I swear sometimes I feel like the luckiest student in the world. I've only had a couple bad teacher experiences.
As a whole, i love my profs.

I've only in my life had two bad professors. I've just had them close together.

I can only think of one prof off the top of my head.

I've had a couple that I know are good teachers but it just was not my area of interest so I ended up hating everything about the class including the prof.

I'm sure this teacher I have now wouldn't be so bad if I actually liked the subject, but I don't so I can't stand his enthusiasm for it.

yeah, i had a chemistry professor like that, which also happened to be an early class so I ended up glaring at him a lot.

I was rping in class today. it got that bad. not just chatting online, but actually writing.

I remember a cyclops and that's the only thing I know about the story. I read it freshman year of high school I think.

oh then yeah. that's like books 9-12 and when Odysseus is being a jerk. nevermind.

I ask b/c I love Odysseus. he's the ultimate badass, but the prof I TA apparently does not and thinks he's an absolutely jerk.
so now I'm curious if it's a male/female thing (based on other opinions I've heard)

no, I don't remember story or characters and I have no idea who you're talking about though I can guess. I remember there was a cyclops. that is all I know. I think there were sirens too.

Yes there are cyclops and sirens and nymphs and a whirlpool and all sorts of things that block Odysseus' journey home.

yeah, I remember being taught the same thing in high school and it wasn't an in-depth study and there wasn't really a focus on odysseus.

I don't think I ever read that.

Like Shakespeare...I just can NOT get through that!

um here's an example from the first page of the Odyssey

Sing in me muse, and through me tell the story
of that man skilled in all ways of contending,
the wanderer harried for years on end,
after he plundered the stronghold
on the proud height of Troy

I would say the difficult nature of it is in the highly unfamiliar names (they are greek afterall) and it also depends on the translation you get. The translation I'm reading (by Robert Fitzgerald) is very accessible and interesting, others aren't as much so.

We need a new english translation...

I don't find it that difficult but then I like stuff like this and I love Shakespeare.
