A Chaotic Order
A pre-Zhou era Roleplay set in Ancient China

Curious about pre-Zhou China? Need resources?
CECC: China's History -- Pre-Emperial
Chinese History - Shang Dynasty ? event history (www.chinaknowledge.de)
Chapter Two: Classical China

======================

Leaders of the Board:
Mayuka - Head of the Board
FidelisRaor - Ancient China Advisor
kokonimo - Manager out of the country

Plot: Those who can read the oracle bones have the most power, whether the King likes it or not. He might be busy praying to the spirits, but will he ever truly know their answers? With suspicions of interception abound in the court, one cannot help but believe the enemy lords of state to be at fault. The King cannot possibly hold his own without his cohorts. This is the story of their loyalty. {possible edit in future}

Characters: [Currently Accepting Applications!]

Rules:This will be a structured rp, even though a specific plot has yet to be set. Please keep a look out for the final plot, but until then, a basic knowledge of pre-Zhou era China will be enough. As long as characters interact, I'm sure we can make this work.

1. Please follow Menewsha's forum rules, first of all!

2. To join this roleplay, please pm your profile and interest to Mayuka (Head of the Board). The profile backbone is at the end of this list. Images are not required. I personally do not prefer them, but I will accept if and only if you have drawn them yourself. (And drawing ability is not judged here. You're in good company. :])

3. No godmodding or powerplaying. Please do not try to control any one else's character(s). Even if he or she may not be "doing it right," it is not fair to do it for them. Helpful suggestions, though, are fine. And no all-powerful characters, please.

4. Respect each and every roleplayer and their roleplaying ability. Although everyone might not be on the same level, please strive to be patient with each other. Let's grow together and crap! :P

5. Here's the profile:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Race: (may or may not be ethnically speaking)
Appearance:
Occupation:
Personality:
Brief background: (please try your best at this. even if you might not be familiar with ancient Chinese history/culture doesn't mean you can't learn! there's plenty of people here to help if you are lost. just try, that's all that matters :])

And commence to the roleplaying! I'm looking forward to roleplaying with you all!

** Note: I will be studying abroad beginning June 10, so I won't be around after that period. Just a heads up because leadership WILL be changing. **

Ying-jie played by kokonimo
Quote:
Name: Ying-jie
Gender: Male
Age: 19 yrs
Race: Human, Han Chinese
Appearance: Ying-jie is long and lanky, but still of average build. He's about 5ft 5in with long and curly (read as: unruly) raven hair that is usually bound in a high top knot. He wears simple enough attire, a gray jacket-shirt with navy colored loose pants. His nails are long and pointy but they serve a purpose; it allows him precision control over his casting.
Occupation: Sculpter, specialized in bronze casting
Personality: Ying-jie is a meek young man of 19 years. He tries to be friendly with everyone, but only as a means to avoid conflict. He has a bad penchant for gossip though; it's what usually gets him in trouble. When it comes down to it, he will do for himself before he does for another. Of course, he always feels bad about it--it's a never ending cycle.
Brief background: From a smaller village in the northern reaches of central China, Ying-jie was apprenticed as a sculpter early on in his life. Interested in the trade or not, Ying-jie had talent in his worksmanship and was soon taken up by an artisan group working for the court. This group is in charge of making the earthen vessels for the court divination rites. One slip of the wrist and Ying-jie is fired--or worse.

Lihua Jiao played by Mayuka

Quote:
Name: Lihua Jiao
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Race: Human, 1/2 Han Chinese 1/2 Japanese

Appearance: Long hair flowing to her waiste-color, White with very small blue tint. 5'3 with a slim but athletic build. She is always seen wearing traditional asian ceremonial or fighting robes and almost always carries one of her weapons with unless she is in the temple or at home.

Occupation: Apprentice Oracle by day, professional hired-executioner by night. She is one of 'Special Forces' in the Han Army.

Personality: She likes to befriend everyone (unless she's killing them of course). She had a naturally sweet but sometimes wuiet disposition. When she gets angry about something, her fury is quick and extreme.

Brief background: Her parents were murdered when she was 3 yrs old, right before her eyes. Ever since, she has trained in anything that would give her power over others. After her parents died, she grew up with her great aunt until she passed. Then the Oracles took her in to train her in their ways. Because of her great fighting abilities, she was drafted (willingly) into the great Army and is used with a few other 'Special Forces' people to to kill generals, or mass amounts of enemies when no one else can. -This doesn't happen very often though unless they are in a major war.

Quote:
Name: Gao Luo

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Race: Han Chinese

Appearance: He still wears the same cotton shirt and pants he always has, giving him a somewhat scruffy appearance.

Occupation: Vessel Maker

Personality: He can be stubborn when it comes to work and often has the same mannerisms as he did when he was working in the field. Otherwise he has a tendency to be laid back.

Brief background: Born to a farming family he didn't really expect to raise above the status. One day when he was younger he wandered off from the other workers to find himself face to face with one of the many sacred creatures. It told them that his fate was to serve the ancestors. He decided it would be best to do so and apprenticed to a vessel maker. By now he can make them by himself and is slowly becoming known as one of the best.
