I read the first through third twilight books, only saw the first movie. The second book is blah, the first and third are mediocre, the tvtropes for the fourth book are enough to keep me away from it. It (with the exception of the third book I guess) generally goes from mediocre to downhill.

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series rocked! (at least the first... ten of them before it became all about the various nonhuman sex she was having)

The best new series aimed at teens and young adults is The Hunger Games. A cross between Battle Royale, 1984, and set in North America. Stephen King spoke down about Stephanie Meyer but gave The Hunger Games (the third book in the trilogy coming soon!) positive reviews.

I read the first book in the Hunger Games, and I loved it. I've been wanting to read more, but I haven't had the chance to.
I'm also getting into the Dream-hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I heard nothing but good things about the series, so I bought one of the books, Upon a Midnight Clear. I read most of it so far and I like what I've read.

You can go to a bookstore like Borders or Barnes and Noble and grab a stack of books and sit in the cafe. I've been known to do that for HOURS at a time.

And if you liked The Hunger Games, you'll love catching fire and the end will leave you downright breathless waiting for the third book that isn't out yet, but will be called mockingjay

I should do that sometime, go to a bookstore and read. The city I live by, Portland, has a bookstore that is an entire city block. It's called Powells and it's way awesome. One could get lost if they're not careful.
