Honestly, I'm not sure how to define him. To the a normal audience, he is just a crazy (but very talented) musical artist. To his more involved fans, he is... I really don't even know how to put it.
As for his music, he does a lot of progressive/experimental rock sort of stuff. A lot of people describe him as having a steampunk feel, and that's also how he puts it.
