@Jester -- The kid I was watching is my cousin, and he's sitting at about the mentality of a five year old right now. I don't take him in public, because he climbs on restaurant tables and touches EVERYTHING in stores. And he won't listen when I try to discipline him because his mom doesn't tell him not to do that crap. D=<

I have ADHD... it's mostly problematic while I'm at school though. The rest of the time it's not a huge issue... mostly because I don't have real, time-sensitive responsibilities.

Not much going on here, just wanted to peek in and see what was going on.

@Kid- I feel so sorry for him. D: That poor kid... what's sad, is that, it's mainly the mother's fault. She's probably like my cousin's mom. She doesn't want her son to 'hate' him.

I sometimes wonder if ADHD is over-diagnosed for younger children who simply have a lot of energy? In my (limited) experience, there's a difference between hyper-energetic and hyper-something's wrong. I've done a lot of summer school teaching of the 7-12 age, and you can totally tell the difference. I think parents should take more responsibility in helping out in such cases. There was one poor kid who was dropped off by his aunt and uncle at 7am when daycare opened, was given a bag of chips or other junk as his "lunch" and then not picked up until daycare ended at 6pm, usually by some friend or other relative. Never saw his parents. He had a lot of trouble focusing in class, more than just having a lot of energy and wanting to be outside (there were a lot of normal kids like that).
