I can download torrents on my Mac! Transmission is what I use. It works well!

Re: Wine -- I got SimEarth, Loom, and Lemmings to work on my iMac. Arkanoid, too. I have a bunch of other ones that I'm hoping to install, but Loom was my priority. It was really fun to relive my *cough*teenage-hood

We shouldn't really be discussing torrents and piracy though, that is against the rules after all.

they'll end up costing about the same.
I'm not a fan of this revolution where the computer can't do anything but is hand-held. What would I use a computer that small for anyway? Only one thing I can think of, and that's breaking into wireless routers.

The Apple-fanpeople get teased and the other Apple users are respected.

Not an admission I'd make in a globally-accessible forum.

I think it depends on the person. You weren't in lab as much as I was this last semester.

THANK YOU.

God, I fucking hate how computers are getting smaller and smaller. It's stupid.

I got a bigass cellphone (env3) and my computer is a 17'' high performance Toshiba Satellite.

Fuck tiny computers.
If I can hold it with one hand, it's not good enough.

I enjoy my iPhone -- it's been great for scheduling things and having games to play on the bus -- but I confess the iPad leaves me cold. Except perhaps for reading books, but I love the feel of paper and the "toss-it-in-my-purse" aspect. Plus if someone steals your paperback you're not out $47843210.

I love my toshiba, it's literally too big and too heavy for me to hold with one hand for longer than a few seconds.

/pets it

My precious, I love you. Stop overheating so I can play Sims on you.

Yeah, or if you're really desperate for electronic books, get a kindle. A LOT cheaper, I believe.

I have an ipod touch and I like it. I wouldn't mind an iphone, but with a touch, I don't really need it.

For me the bigger the computer, the better.
I don't want small and portable.

I want a full PC tower, with everything filling it.
Lights, and tubes, and things that silently run.

@monstahh: I bought a little fan to train on our %$#*ing old modem which can't stand anything over than about 80 degrees room temperature, and that's really helped. Maybe installing an extra fan?

Re: the Kindle, I've seen them a few times and though they're shiny and fun-looking, most of what I need to read is not going to be available on Kindle. Unless "Western Music in Meiji Era Japan" has been converted to a Kindle edition, or recent dissertations in Musicology is an RSS feed...

It's not bad for those things. I think it's a bit expensive to use for playing games (given the games' quality and size), but I can see a legitimate use for that.

I do not like electronic books for reading for fun. How, as the saying goes. "you can't grep a tree," so it's a good medium for technical resources.

I would think that a touch screen monitor would be more useful for you reading music. Like the ones that HP has.

I need to redownload Steam.

And evercrack.
/drool

I need to find my code for my Sims 3 game. When my computer had to get windows reinstalled (my computer overheated one too many times and some of the drivers got fucked), I want to be able to play it and actually be able to download the updates for it...I admit the code I have now is not legit, but I have my game and my receipt for it, if you'd like to take a shot at me.
I just lost the paper slip in the game with the code on it. T_T I think it's lost in my room, hopefully when I move I'll find it.
