I prefer actual books over e-books anyway. Anywhere I got, there's a book or two in my purse.

If the software was designed to use the screen that way, may programs could benefit from it, but programs too often (at least when it comes to screens like that) require a keyboard.

I have a laptop, but, like I said. it's 17'' of pure power. So it's a bitch to carry around, so it's not exactly easily portable like some laptops these days are. D:<
Once I can afford it I'm going to get a custom desktop setup, built hopefully by zazabar if his offer to build me one is still valid.

Oh shit, I should have been doing the power hour and running missions. Whoops!

@Urbeth: You can't really write on a touchscreen monitor. My music is full of random comments and fingerings and stuff. I don't think paper music is going away anytime soon.
@Flux: I've really enjoyed a few games on it, like Drop7, Marple, Crayon Ball, GloBall, etc. Mostly it's been a lifesaver as far as organization goes. I tried to switch back to a paper system these last few months, and it's been really awful, so I'm going back to the iPhone for tasks and scheduling.

Opening the case and vacuuming it out helps too (removes the dust).

It's a laptop or I would, instead I just keep it on a non-solid surface (ie a chair with gaps/holes in it on the seat) and keep a fan, or just try to be gentle with it about running programs and shit.
I don't really have any desire what so ever to get books on my computer. I love actually being able to be curled up in bed at night and read a book.
You can't do that with anything electronic unless you NEVER want to get to sleep.

My parents both have laptops, they're cheap and don't wanna buy from outside sources (i.e. they only buy from best buy/staples, y'know..crappy places.)
So I at least helped them avoid Intel GMA and really low end onboard GPUs, but unfortunately they couldn't get anything really worth the money they spent.
Me, I'm totally getting my parts from Newegg.com, they get sent to a friend, he overclocks what needs to be overclocked, sets up BIOS on the Mobo, etc.
Then sends 'em to me, way up here in Canada.
then I'll set 'em up in my PC. (Have to format my HDD for that too.)

Probably not and that's for the better--to some extent. ^^

Done that too. It doesn't help, I think it's just this brand of laptop, I should have looked into it a little bit better. But for the price i got it for, it's really not a terrible deal, I just with I hadn't cracked the screen. I need to stop being so brutal with my laptop. My poor baby...

@monstahh: I bought this little thing called a Thermapak, filled with heat-absorbing crystals, for my poor laptop which a few moments ago was straining to handle Level 18 of Attack of the Fan Girls. It's worked all right for the past year or so -- you can even put it in the freezer to cool it down further if it overheats more.

The prices on the Xotic are good compared to the other places I've looked for the same quality.

My computer runs most things real well at first, but then 30 minutes into a Sims game, it's all.
