Bradbury is still kicking.
And still writing too. He comes out with at least a new book a year.

I am currently reading Love in the time of Cholera.
I put it down for awhile because my best friend sent me almost every book from my favorite author, Patricia Briggs and I picked them up for awhile.

Richard Adams just had his 90th birthday. =D Speaking of older authors.

We should come up with a big list of steampunk books for the first post.

I remember reading several Dune novels and really enjoying them. But I don't remember one bit of what I read, all these years later. ._.

well both of the major steampunk book that are being talked about in the steampunk world have already been put up near the front page. boneshaker and Anubis Gate, but one that had not been listed that was a good book is Soulless by Gail Carriger. bit of romance but a really good book. and for me to say its a good book and for it to have romance is saying something. I usually dont read any of the books that are set to have romance.

There's a ton of them out there, though. I thought it would just be fun to have a list for peeps to draw on.

I really don't read a lot of fiction, though, so I don't have a lot to *discuss* about them per se ...

I love the Ender Books!

I haven't read everything in the series- but I have managed to read Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow of the Giant, and Ender in Exile

Anne Bishop is the author of the Black Jewels books.

Pounded mentioned them above on this page.

*grins* It's quite a good series, I guess it caters for more 15+ that may be why I like it XD.
Also quite like the Golden Compass series by Phillip Pullman, that's quite good.
Uhh....I have a memory blank on some other books :/

I saw the film, but have yet to read the series.

I've heard some very good things about it. As an opposite to C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, I'm very interested in how the concepts of government and religion are dealt with.

Then I watched it and it isn't that bad but it does miss alot of important things like the end! *prods movie*

Mmmm, I would say something there...but i got nothing ;D

I have to agree with you, and I like books that are geared for adults and Young adults.

I didn't like it because it set out to be the opposite of the Chronicles of Narnia. I like the Narnia books.

So I had this lovely post typed up about how I respect Lewis' work for incorporating an alternative view of Christ in a fantasy setting and how I adore how the Inklings influenced his work.

Then my internet had to freeze up and eat it. :(

Really? I've never heard that before. I can see how that might be the case, but I never got that feeling from them when I read them. (Then again, I started reading them when I was about the age of the main character, so I wouldn't have noticed at that point. I've read them several times since then, though.)

@Knerd: Oh noes! I hate when that happens!

I enjoyed both the Chronicles of Narnia and His Dark Materials, but my favorite at the moment is definitely the Dark Materials. ^^ However, I should really get around to reading both again, as it's been quite some time.
