that is an insane ammount of spanners to bad you cant like trade them to be something else like in the christmas thing

Yes. That was the original thought with the donations system, but unfortunately that didn't work.

But yes, the spanners should "morph" into gears, and then everything would be all right.

It would. I don't think the people from gasket have a problem getting rid of their spanners. It's only sprocket, but the majority is on sprocket.
