I plan on reading a TON of classics this summer, mainly because I'm looking into buying Amazon's Kindle 2 eReader, and classics are free.
And there are a TON of classics I've been meaning to read.
...I always forget Ann Bronte! :gonk: So it's Charlotte, Emily, and Ann, then?

Look for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Facade.
I think you'll like it. It's actually pretty autobiographical.

The author is Betty Smith.

OH GOD, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT BOOKS?
If you guys have never heard of Fire bringer and are interested in Natureish/Fantasy-like plots, then read it. That book is amazing, and I read that back in 5th grade, and loved it soo much.
I wanna read it again but I can't find it T_T

@Jeanne: I always meant to read that book!
It was an optional read on my summer reading list in middle school, but I chose to read The Burning Time by someone or other instead. :P It was a book about the Salem Witch Trials, which was always one of my obsessions.

Quote:
Fire Bringer is a young adult fantasy novel by David Clement-Davies published in 1999 in the United Kingdom and 2000 in the United States.
__________________________________________________ ____
Plot

It tells the story of Rannoch, a red deer born in ancient Scotland — the night his father was murdered, and his mother, Eloin, taken by Drail's servant Sgorr. But Rannoch is no ordinary deer; he is special, for he bears a white mark on his forehead resembling an oak leaf. To the Herla, as the red deer called themselves, this white mark holds great meaning and power, for it was stated in a prophecy that the deer who was born with the mark would bring freedom to all Herla in the future, and that the bearer of the oak mark would have the ability to communicate with all animals. The Lord of the Herds, Drail, wants him killed out of fear of The Prophecy. Drail is overthrown and instead replaced by Sgorr, who has militarized the herd by making the stags sharpen their antlers, training and drilling the young bucks, and will take no resistance. He realizes the threat Rannoch poses to his leadership. Rannoch escapes from the herd, accompanied by Bracken, not his real mother, and his companions Thistle, Tain, twins Peppa and Willow, Quiach, Bankfoot and their mothers - but deep down in his heart, he knows that he must return, in order to unite the deer, and end Sgorr's reign of terror.

It always makes me uncomfortable to read about the terrible things that people did in the name of religion.

I know, I'm trying to get ahold on all three.
David's way of writing is just breathe-taking, I think.
Screw Stephanie Meyer.

@Jeanne: That's the fascination for me, actually! ;)
I love anything that deviates from the crippling hand of religion... I'm sadistic, I know, and awfully bitter, but... Yeah. Religion is just something I've always had a vendetta against.
