When I lived on the farm, Chikuma, we had barn cats.
That was in North Dakota, with very bitterly cold winters.
They were outdoor cats who had their little places in the hay in the barn.
They were happy, and they did very well. My uncle refused to allow them in the house, and he also discouraged us from feeding them. He thought if we fed them, then they would not catch the mice and gophers in the barns and fields.
