Oh, no! Scallops are really soft. It's kind of like something between mashed potatoes and those really soft kinds of white fish only a little firmer. It's a bit hard to explain but it isn't anything like the rubbery oddness of clams.

I agree that some of our food is questionable but most questionable foods end up being not too bad, :')

Haha well I think the cultural aspect of foods that are weird to us is interesting. I just don't have a very strong desire to eat many of them in the near future.
