Shadow seemed happy to cuddle and rest with Angelo, and he kept his eyes closed most of the time. He certainly needed the rest. The past few days had not been too kind to him.

A loud crack would wake both of them as one of the wheel pins broke. the wagon tilted and creaked as the wheel itself fell to the ground. From up in the front they could hear her cursing in more then one tongue as she climbed down from the drivers seat.

"...Oh my. We had better go and help," Shadow murmured, stirring unwillingly from his spot. He was quite comfortable and didn't feel like moving.

“mmmmmm” Angelo sounded slightly sad as he sat up. He too was unwilling from moving from where he was. He had been enjoying the closeness he was getting from Shadow and he did not really want to deal with the sun. it was to bright to him now even though he was using the Lampshade ever day.

Out side she had gotten to the wheel and was looking it over. She was happy that it had been only a pin and not the axel. Had it been the Axel she did not think that they could have move the wagon off the road or even find something to make the Axle out of.

Shadow poked his head out of the wagon, rubbing his eyes--he had almost been asleep. "What happened? Do you need any help?" he asked, contently.

“no I don’t think I will need help but it would help me a lot if you two were not in the wagon. I am going to have to force the wagon up so that I can get the wheel back on and then get a pin in.” she frowned at the axel. “you know what, you two could go look and see if you can find a tree branch about the size of my arm around.”

"Sure, we will go and look." Shadow held his hand out to Angelo, to help him down from the wagon, as he hopped out. "Come, let's go and have a look around."

Climbing out of the wagon Angelo made sure to catch her eye then gave her a few hand signs, signs that Shadow would never have been taught by any one of the clans that he had run a crossed. She answered in like kind and Angelo smiled before fallowing Shadow. “Do you know what we are looking for?”

"A tree branch?" Shadow asked, absently, as he walked. He seemed distracted for some reason, by something he hadn't bothered to ponder until just now. Whatever it was, it seemed like it was weighing heavily on his mind.

“No a Tree Branch has not the full strength to keep it on and not brake under the stress. It would be the last one that we would pick.” Reaching out he patted a sapling. “One of these would be so much better but this one is still a bit to young to help us. If we can find one that is good it should take both you and I to break it and bring it back to the wagon. There we can cut it down to the right size and then cut more lengths out of the tree for other uses.” Leaning on a thicker tree Angelo was in profile before he looked over at Shadow. “What is on your mind love? You look like it is bugging you heavily.”

"All right. tell me when you find a good candidate tree." Shadow blinked, surprised by his outright asking. "Oh...I thought it was not noticeable. It still bothers me that you saw Kain...so many days ago. Kain is a very dangerous woman...and if you are a true seer, and what you saw was true...I fear for the safety of the people of that town."

“The problem is, is that there are no real place to find good candidate trees, you just happen to find them. Sometimes you can go for a day or more and still not find a tree that is good for it, other times you find one in seconds after stepping off the road.” Sighing he looked up into the trees as he leaned there. He looked relaxed and content staring up into the dimming glow of the sun. “Is there a chance that it will happen in years to come? “

"We should be looking a bit more vigorously then, hmm?" Shadow looked around, curiously. He wasn't sure what exactly he was looking for. "It might. We should sneak back to that town next year, on the same date you saw her there. I do not want her alone in a human town."

“I am not…” Angelo stopped talking and dropped to the ground his hands holding his head as he whimpered. He knew now that he should be seeing something but he was only seeing darkness, something was making it so he was not seeing what he should be.

Shadow rushed to his side, gently gathering him up into his arms. "Angelo...?" He sounded quite concerned. "What is it? Is something happening? Do you need to go back to the wagon?"

Reaching out Angelo held tight to Shadow trying to see past the blackness. His eyes were open and he seem to be trying to say something but not a sound was coming out of him. His eyes were not seeing anything in this world. Then something cold slipped in between Shadows rib’s, something cold and with it came a darkness he too would not be able to brake from. It was a magic he would have never felt or seen but had heard hints that it was out there. It was made to keep a vampire prisoner until the weapon that had delivered it was removed from the body. At the first touch of the vampire’s blood the spell would know how to affect them.

Shadow didn't move a muscle. He stayed perfectly still, holding Angelo tight to him, as he attempted to combat the odd magic and decipher it for himself. His lack of movement caused his heart to stop beating, and his blood to stop flowing for the moment.

Hands more gentle then one might have thought from such an attack moved him so that he would lay more comfortable. The spell seemed to perk its ears up at his attempts to combat it and smile. It changed and then grew more powerful. As it gained more control of him, shadow would know that this was not just a spell there was someone actively working on it in real time. “Are we taking them to the camp or the wagon?” the words were an older form of Angelo’s native tongue. The speaker was male and was gently pushing shadows hair from his face. “If the Mothers have not given us orders I am taking these two back to camp. I have seen this one’s face a few times in my visions.” The sound of cloth rustled as he bent down and kissed shadow on the forehead. “I am sorry cosine but I had to do this for now.” Gently Shadows fingers were removed from Angelo and they were pulled apart. ~can you hear me? Do you understand us?~

Shadow, antisocial as always, didn't respond. His facial features showed that he did understand, but wasn't going to grace him with a response. He was not so happy about being separated from Angelo.

Gently they were lifted up onto litters, the hands of the man that was talking to Shadow never left off touching his cheeks. ~it would be nice for you to tell me if you were ok in there. Do not worry your childer is safe and he is not far from you.~ the person stepped away for a few moments only to reappear on the side where Angelo had been. Taking Shadows hand he connected it to Angelo’s hand. The people carrying the litters made sure that they never were to far apart, as they walked. ~ I know you mean no harm to us, I have seen it but.~ Shadow could hear the man shake his head. Suddenly a vision of a man standing in front of Shadow on an empty plane appeared in Shadows mind. He seemed young and sad. His pale gold hair lay limply around his angelic face. His eyes were a pale lilac. “I am Sidhe, one of the few of my kind.” His voice was the same as it had been in real life. “I was sent with this party by the Mothers to bring you three to where you could be questioned. There are so few of the Family and when one of their wagons are found in the hands of others…” he looked away sadly.

Shadow looked bitter, antisocial. "If you want to know the truth...you do not have to question us. Not them, at least. My mind holds the answers, if you would like to look. It is free to you." Shadow's voice was short, unhappy. He sounded...cranky, and rather ornery. He was old. He rarely showed his age.

“It is not just what the purpose of your group as a whole we a looking to answer but your personal reason.” Reaching out he touched Shadow gently on the cheek. He stood there for a moment his lilac eyes seem to bore into Shadow. “You’re worried for your friend, your child…” he blushed slightly. “Your lover. That is why you are on this journey.” A scene of calm blanketed Shadow. “Soon I will take the spell off you and you will be able to hold him safe again. For now you will just have to accept his hand in yours. It is all I can do.”

"I do not like feeling vulnerable. Naturally, I am going to be snippy. I will apologize later, but it is just a warning." If there was one thing Shadow hated feeling, it was weakness...vulnerability. He was probably going to act like a bitter old man for a while, a side of him which Angelo had seen more than once when he was younger and had gotten on his bad side.

“I never said you were being snippy, just worried and I can understand it.” he gently rubbed his finger on Shadows cheek. “and do not worry about your hunger or his, there are many waiting back at the camp who would happily offer themselves to you.” he smiled and some thing was off with his teeth. Where his canines should have been were two holes. Never before had Shadow seen anything like this before. “and what should I call you? I do not want to pull out the wrong name and use it only to find it is your privet name.”

"He is a youngblood. He doesn't feed unless I am there with him--he hasn't tasted the blood of a human, yet. It is Shadow. And I am being snippy." Shadow paid no mind to his teeth. He was in too bad of a mood, and he would question it later, of course.
