Welcome one and all to Songs of Delight and Happiness. The story of our little home away from home here may not be of particular interested to some of you, but to others it spans the length of a brief war between two great factions/teams known as Gasket and Sprocket respectively. In other words, this is a post Phoenix Jubilee of 2010 hangout thread meant to help the blossoming relationships formed between both team members and the opposition continue to bloom. Naturally folks may reminisce about 'the good ole days' when flowers were everywhere and spanners and gears were only in high supply when one had absolutely no need of them, but for the most part, we here at SoD&H plan on employing randomness and cleverness in order to move beyond what we had then and into what could be something even more special.

FAQ

Q: What's with the name of the Hangout?
A: SoDH or SoD&H (or even SDH for those of you using the shortest of shorthand) was named after a message that many engineers saw during the course of the Phoenix Jubilee 2010 event when they had run out of gears but continued to try to repair the machine. It was meant to be vaguely insulting, but we found it amusing and now bear it as a namesake of sorts. ^.^;

Q: Can I have some free art?
A: No, if you ask/beg/etc. you most certainly will NOT get art, free or otherwise. The staff and regulars of SDH reserve the right to draw avatars on a whim and present them at random.

Q: If presented with random avatar art, do I have to tip?
A: No, of course not. However, keep in mind that tips are, of course, appreciated (as they show respect for the artist's time and talent) but not required (as we're essentially doing this for fun and/or to improve our art skills).

And unfortunately, no...at least I doubt it. I wasn't here for the final day of the event, so it's difficult for me to say for sure.

I missed the last couple. I was pretty disappointed with that event as a whole but hopefully it was a learning experience for the moderators running it..

@ Harley: The first part, I did know. The baby killing part, I was unaware of o.o I have problems with the amount of chemicals that are jammed into products now a days. Many aren't sufficiently tested for ill effects, or pushed upon us anyway.

I believe there is a correlation between the rise in number of things like cancer and the inordinate amount of chemicals in almost everything >.<

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing. I was also thinking that I liked the way her monocle mirrored the "Q" in her name. I assume it was unintentional. But it's a nice touch, overall-design-wise.

Lmao. I'm just on a roll. And nevermind, apparently they didn't inform the families [and by that I meant like.. carry the obituary things or whatever; I'm very tired at the moment, it's my only excuse] but they did warn against death in coal mine's. They were used to spot out toxic gas. Kind of a cruel system actually.

And no, the monocle in and the Q was not intentional but that's actually pretty cool, now that you've pointed it out.

Apparently canaries sing a lot and so in the mines when the birds stopped singing it meant that they'd died due to toxic gases.

But I definitely was taught about some bird that carried death messages from people who had left home. Now I have to find out what species it was.
