One would think so. But in the end, even if you know who the ninja is, you won't see them coming for you until it's too late. Every good ninja knows to strike when you least expect it.

Well if you're constantly expecting the unexpected then 'the unexpected' ceases to exist and therefore disproves the action of 'expecting the unexpected'.

Everyone slips eventually. Simply by being human we can never indefinitely do away with the need for that particular action, no matter how skilled of vigilant we might be. Fallibility lies in all of us.

That is quite an interesting paradox. The closest thing that one can do is attempt to expect anything that is even remotely possible - but that is quite difficult, as many expectations will contradict one another.
