This is an interesting classic game which I have ressurected from my chest of Play Station One games. It is a turn based battle system which allows you to have five characters on a team at one time. Finn is a fourteen year old boy who is being raised by a knight from a nearby kingdom that lives in a small village with another knight and his family and how he discovers the mysterious background of his heritage and learns to become a hero to save this kingdom and many others with the help of many friends along the way. I found the game very refreshing, but of course the annoying grinding is there. Leveling up is just something you have to do if you want to get far and the game is quite challenging on many levels. The monsters are difficult and some of the puzzles were really difficult to figure out leaving you not knowing what to do next. The items you get, you have no clue as to what in the heck they do for your character.

If you are a traditional RPG'er I suggest you play this game.
I would be interested in hearing from others who have played and what they think of the game or to share any other insights about the game.

This is a great game! I have not played it in ages though. It was the very first RPG I had ever played (played it when I was in elementary school) and it really got me interested in RPGs. After playing this game it made me go on to play other classic RPGs like Suikoden, the final fantasy series, etc. I even loved the music in that game. However, I do remember it being challenging. : / What classic RPG isn't though? I'm glad that someone remembers this game because whenever I mention it to anyone they've never heard of it. Happy gaming!

Thanks for sharing your experiences with this game. I really enjoyed the classic style of leveling up. Patience is a virtue in these kind of games. I actually found this game a few years ago in a Gamestop and bought it just because I thought it looked cool. I got frustrated with it quite a bit because some things I really had trouble figuring out where to go next or how to do certain tasks. I got some help with some of it. I always thought there would be a sequel but I guess it never came to fruitition. I too like the final fantasy series as well, but never really tried Suikoden. Maybe I will give that game a whirl at some point. Another point I would like to tack on, is that in a good role playing game the music is a crucial ingredient for me as well.

I agree. Music really makes a game. I also think it's important to have a good storyline, character development, and some sort of unique element (or else it's just a boring game. : /). I am glad that you have played this game and enjoyed it. I definitely suggest the Suikoden series. They are fun too.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will look into Suikoden. I don't have much time for video games as I used to. But usually early in the day if I am off or late in the night before I go to sleep I usually tend to play some. I wished they would have made a sequel for this game. I would have loved to have played it.
