Depending on the man, they can be attractive. Jason Castro wears them well.

In general, I'm not much of a fan, though.

I absolutely ADORE dreadlocks! Like, in the most serious of ways, I've tried to back comb my hair so many times but I just am so impatient so I end up taking them out after 3 weeks. Which is not good for your hair I don't recommend it. :3 but my ex girlfriend had dreadlocks, and I had always touched them, and loved them.

Dreads aren't dirty. ---well some can be if the wearer of the dreads is't taking good care of them...:3 its just matted hair, and I absolutely love the look. :3

I couldn't have possibly worded it better. I was thinking the same thing, but unsure of how to word it somehow.

I'm not a big fan of dreadlocks at all. I can't stand matted hair. XP I think they look really gross and they remind me of my dogs when they get knots on them. Ew. Just ew. And when people are still working on their dreads they look even worse. Sorry to those who like them, but no, no, NO. D:

i find dread unattractive, but in some cases, they look perfectly fine. i know that they arent dirty, like 2 people from american idol had dreads, and crystal looked fabulous with them. i think if you have certain personality, they suit you, but if your all nice, and goody two shoes. they aren't your thing. i imagine them as sort of a worm type thing..urgh. bleh. no thank you.

Real, well done dreads can be amazing if you how which thickness to go with. People choosing the wrong ones is what generally makes them look bad. Also, dreadfalls are fail due to being fake and the pussy way out.

In my opinion, there is only one white guy that can pull off dreads, and he is a red-haired animated drummer.

Depends on the person. I've ever only seen 2 guys that look good with them (one being my sisters boyfriend), and only one girl. She was pretty cool though, she had blonde dreads with deep red streaks.

I hate the 'fake' dreads that people do, or the 'greasy' dreads. They're just disgusting. Like all the people I know, actually shampoo their dreads so they never look raunchy.

I love dreadlocks, and intend to get them at some point. I love the chunky ones, I love the thin ones, I love the messy-looking ones, I love the tamed (as "tamed" dreads can get) ones, I just love them in general. Not a big fan of the fake dreadlocks, though, anymore than I am of fake piercings or fake tattoos.

I don't think it's fair to judge a style by the absolute worst of the worst, the ones who have poor hygiene in general (you can't possibly think never washing your head is an okay thing to do, even if you did absolutely no research on dreadlocks).

Like other people have said, you either wear them well or you don't. I personally wouldn't wear them myself, but if a person things they look good in them it's not for me to judge XD

I've wanted dreads for a while, but my friends all voted it down by saying they wouldn't go out in public with me if I got 'em. -_-

So, yeah, that'd make my vote a definite FTW. As long as you keep 'em clean & neat & whatnot.

Some people judge them because of how they look, and other's judge them because of pure dislike for them. I can understand all of that, and that's why you learn to make those decisions yourself. When you get a weird hairstyle/color, you know that you're going to attract attention, and when you do something to attract attention to yourself you better expect and be ready for it to be bad attention even if it is not. :3

I had dreadlocks as i said, around three times for at least 3 weeks at a time. I love them to death, but my hair was so short that when I did my back combing it just looked so fluffy and odd. @[email protected] So I quit them. But I'm going for thema gain once my hair gets to the middle of my back, I'm going to pay somebody to backcomb my hair and i'm going to wait for them to become amazing like everyone elses that I've seen.

I don't know if I can pull it off yet but all of my friends said that I did, and that it looked fine even as a messed up hair do. I loved them as if they were a project, and they're actually quite the commitment. It takes a lot of energy to maintain those things and whenever they get messed up its' hard to get rid of the messed up thing. A lot of people think you don't wash them, or anything like that, but in truth I washed my hair every two days, and I washed it with Suave shampoo. ;3 So it was always smelling good.

i DO HAVE TO SAY that when I took them out;; it smelled really bad, but that was probably just the inside of the actual dreads and due to the fact that I probably hadn't done them well. Which is why I will be getting them professionally done. :3

I totally love dreads. :3

I like dreads but I prefer them when they are done professionally rather than people just leaving their hair to get uber greasy and dread naturally, I personally feel that is disgusting.

All in all though I like dreads.

I put temporary dreadlocks in my hair on occasion when its long enough. I'll leave 'em in for 2-3 days before washing them out though. The amount of pomade, hairspray, and straight ironing is just too much of a hassle to do it often though. If you want, I can post a picture of when I did them last. Right now my hair is fauxhawked, so no dreads for me.

I had half dreads done when I was in Spain a few years back, but I hated them after a few days because they were getting really icky with the vaselline and things the woman used.

Well, not everyone does their dreads the same way.
Like people have said, there are fake dreads, that you can use with dread wax (which is really bad for your hair btw) and hair spray and such. But there are other ways to get NATURAL DREADS without neglecting them.

There is the process of NEGLECT, which is leaving it to not brushing it and letting it knot up and stuff and eventually turn into dreads, those tend to look messier, and in the end they require more maintenance because of the loose hairs and all the stuff you have to do to make them look cleaner.

There is also BACK-COMBING, which is exactly what it says, you back comb your hair very tight and make the dreads as small/large as you want them. Particularly I don't like huge ones on myself, but I like the ones that are just a little thicker than a pencil. :3

Dreads really are a hairstyle, and a commitment as I've said before. They're also an acquired taste--if you will.

It depends on how well they are taken care of. If they are actually taken care of and kept clean then I do like them. However, if they are dirty and nasty then it just is gross. It also depends on the person they are on. Some people look good with them while some people should never have them. It's the same as with any other hair style.

One time when I was at an amusement park, there was this guy that has the grossest dreads that I ever saw. He had trash stuck to them and his hair reached down to his knees. He smelt horrible too. I mean, if you can afford to go to an amusement park then you can afford to shower and wash your hair.
