"I never trust humans. Humans kill many of my kind every year with their fishing nets, their boats." The merman did not appear to be swayed, too much. He did venture a little closer, some of the displeasure vanishing, when he noticed the bucket of squirming fish.

Emy frowned slightly. "Humans may have killed many of your kind, but I've never killed anything in my life....other than the occasional spider." She glanced at the fish and sighed. "You're hungry, huh? You can have them, I'm not going to throw them up and expect you to do tricks." She looked a little disgusted at the idea.

The merman's stomach grumbled as she spoke, but he didn't venture closer. He kept his distance, staunchly. He didn't seem to want to get any closer than he already was. It seemed she was going to have to befriend him if she wanted him to act like a gentleman.

Emy bit her lip softly and tried to deside what to do. But, while she was thinking, why not learn about him? "Umm....so, what's your name? I'm Amelie, but please call me Emy."

"...Léandre," the merman replied, after a moment of contemplation. He looked confused. Why did a human care what his name was? It wasn't of any use...

Emy smiled a little at his name. "That's a good name, has a nice ring to it." She thought a little more, wondering what the look on his face was all about. "How big is your family? I've just my father and my sister." When she mentioned her family she looked a little sad.

"I have a twin brother. And that is it..." Léan replied, slowly. He seemed to be getting more comfortable as time passed, but he was still quite wary. Years and years of mistrust were hard to brush away.

Emy smiled softly. "A twin? That must be nice to have someone your age that you can relate to. I'm just sorta like...a message in a bottle floating off to sea looking for someone to take interest and help." Then she suddenly stopped talking and looked at her lap, seeming embarrased.

"Actually, 75% of the day, I'd like to bash his head on a nice, sharp rock," Léan drawled, though there was a playful look in his eyes. He loved his brother...but he was annoying.

Emy couldn't help but notice that he was just messin and couldn't help but giggle a little. "I feel like hurting my sister sometimes too...but I don't, mostly because I love her and wouldn't really do anything to hurt her....but I don't want to cause my father any more heart ache..."

"My brother and I fight all the time. We don't have anyone to give heartache to if we fight," Léan murmured shortly. "He is my polar opposite in many ways."

Emy blinked slightly, her eyes looking a little sad from his words. But she kept going, trying to keep him talking. "My sister and I are like that too....did you see her? Then little girl in pink with black hair?"

"You all look the same to me," Léan shot out, before dipping his head underwater. He peered around at the people near the tank and then resurfaced. "I do see her."

Emy grinned a little, then waited for him. She smiled a little when he came back up. "Can you see how different we are?"

"All I see are different clothing styles, and hair color," Léan mused, frowning. He was eyeing the fish again, with obvious hunger in his eyes.

Emy shrugged a little. "Guess you'd have to know us to see the differences." She followed his gaze and sighed slightly. "Guess I have to go....once I feed you they're gonna make me leave." She stood slowly. "Well, it's there if you want it. Unless you want me to dump them in the water."

"...If you want to stay longer, just drop the fish into the water one by one," Léan suggested, hesitantly. This human was friendly...and he needed all the help he could get to get out of here.

Emy blinked, then nodded and tried to pick up a fish, but flapped a little and she dropped it. Luckily it hit the water. She sighed a little, not really liking the way he got his food.

Léan reacted in a split second. He dove under and chased the speeding fish underwater until he captured it, then he swiftly broke its spine as he swam back up to the surface. He took a big bite out of it, relief washing over his features. He was so hungry...it looked like they hadn't fed him in over a day...

Emy watched him and cringed slightly when he came back up with the fish. She didn't want to see him eat it, it made her a little quesy, not that te smell didn't already. Just focused on him, she then got a little angry. "When was the last time you ate?"

"When they first brought me here. Three days ago," Léan replied, through a mouthful of fish. "I'm starving...I suppose they've been too frightened of me to step foot on this walkway to feed me..."

Emy looked angry now. "That's just...messed up. The least they can do is feed you." She looked around for a moment, then looked at him again. "Hey, maybe I can get them to hire me as your caretaker."

"Perhaps..." Léan looked semi-peeved about that, but more relieved than anything. He didn't want a caretaker, but if it was someone kind who would actually feed him...that would be a good thing.

Emy shook her head a little. "I know you probably don't want one, I'm sorry, but you have to get food until I can figure out a way to get you out of here." She said a little quietly as she started looking around again.

Léan paused in his eating, then tilted his head. "You're attempting to break me out of here?" he asked, idly, raising an eyebrow. He sounded skeptical. "And how do you plan on doing that?"
