Léan snatched it up at once, to test it out. He waved it about, and checked to see if it was brittle from aging, which it wasn't. "This should do. We should try to find one more...are there any others here, do you think?"

Emy looked proud that she'd found something, that she was actually slightly worth all the trouble he'd gone through. Then she blinked slightly. "Well, I'm not sure....there is another cave a little bit that way." She thumbed to the right. "Then there is the ship....it's been there a long time, but I doubt any merperson would go near it since it's human."

Léan hummed, softly. "I will check the ship. Sometimes, it provides good shelter for nomads, like myself. Most nomads aren't afraid of humans--they just dislike them. So, they'll take advantage of sunken ships...you can check the cave, but be careful--if it's still occupied, there will be trouble."

Emy looked like she was slightly disappointed, but would follow his instructions. She sort of wanted to explore the ship, but knew they didn't really have time for that.

Léan had no interest in exploring the ship. He had no interest whatsoever in the human world, though it was interesting to see it up close like he had. He liked living in the ocean, beneath the swells...and it was where he wanted to stay for the rest of his life.

Quietly, he headed off to scour the ship. He hoped he wouldn't run into any aggressive merpeople, or other sea creatures.

Emy went off like she was told to check out that cave. She felt slightly wary. What if there was someone or something in there? What would she do...run?

Léan didn't find anything of interest in the ship, which was fairly small. Everything was rotted away. The only weapon he found was an old human gun, which would, of course, not work underwater.

Emy soon noticed that something did indeed live there. She didn't find anything of use though. Suddenly she looked up when she saw a shadow sprawl across the cave.

((I suppose we could add one or two more permanent characters, and maybe another pairing. I'm making it so that Léan's brother had a mate, but that mate died about a week before Léan's capture...so someone could be paired with his brother.))

Emy sort of flattened herself against the wall of the cave, starring at the figure that was coming near her. It appeared to be another merperson, but it wasn't Leandre. She sort of felt paniced, what was she to do? If she spoke, she'd be exosed as a 'human' most likely, but if she stayed without saying anything, he might attack her. She couldn't call Leandre without setting the merman off either.

Léan had just finished his search of the sunken ship and was heading towards the second cave when he spotted the strange merperson. He noted that this one looked older than him, and as such--with him being a possible invader to this one's territory, and being directly in the line of sight--he lowered his head a bit, keeping an eye on Emy.

She could hear the merman speak to her, but she couldn't understand what he was saying. Though it sounded gruff and defensive, like he'd attack her if she moved.

Léan approached from the side, so that he was still in sight. He, of course, knew the language of his people and could communicate with her.

Excuse me. Is this your territory?

He had a semi-formal tone to his voice. He hadn't scented any recent scents here, so he honestly hadn't known.

The man looked over at Leandre, now noticing him come closer. He peered at him for a moment, then responded. I wouldn't call it my territory, but this is where I'm staying for a day or two. He looked into the cave again, he could smell her, but couldn't see her. Who's in there? Do you know her?

Léan was glad that the reception wasn't violent. Though, it was bordering on violence. He took careful note of that.

That is my mate. We're traveling together, towards the Bering Sea to meet my brother. We swung along here to look for weapons. I apologize for her lack of response. She is mute.

The merman raised a eyebrow and shrugged slightly, moving back a little. Since she is mute, you may want to go get her. She seems afraid. If you need weapons, I have some you can use. He thought about that, the Bering Sea. Maybe he might tag along. He had nothing better to do, though the way this guy looked and acted he wasn't around people older than him much.

Léan swam back into the cave, showing Emy that it was him before grabbing her arm. He put a finger to his lips, and then motioned for her to follow him out.

Emy looked a little relieved when Leandre came to her instead of someone else. She was about to speak when he put his finger to his lips. She looked confused but nodded and carefully followed him out. When she saw the other merperson, she resisted hiding behind Leandre.

The merman's face seemed to be stunned when he saw her. One, she was topless, which he wasn't used to. The women where he came from were a little more modest than most merpeople. He then saw that she had a the most beautiful eyes, but he stopped himself from starring. She was claimed, he wouldn't do anything anyways.

Emy didn't like the way she was being starred at and actually did move behind Leandre slighlty now.

It's all right, Léan murmured to her, in his language, as he patted her shoulder. He was hoping the pat on the shoulder would convey what he was trying to say.

He then turned his attention to the stranger and idly bowed his head, a form of a greeting in their world. My name is Léandre. Pleased to meet you. This... He glanced behind him. ...is Emy.
