Okay, so earlier today, I was going through some old stuff I had in the back of my closet and found my basket of Barbie's, Ken's, and their stuff. And I got curious.

What's you guys' back-story with Barbie and Ken dolls?
Did/Do you still collect them?
Do you still play with them?
etc...

With me, I played with them A LOT growing up. I always loved playing Barbie's with someone else. :) Sadly, no, I don't still collect them. Once I have my own money, I want to buy my own Tinker Bell Barbie only because I  Tinker Bell all the way! I play with them once in a while (sadly...I admit) but only when I'm uuber bored, have a good story running through my mind, or I'm UUBER BORED.

lol I actually used to have boxes and crates and bins FILLED with barbies to the point they wouldn't close. Oh and barbie clothes. And yet....I only ever had 1 Ken. I'm sure you can imagine why I never had any romance story lines goin'.... Ken would have been such the player...

I used to play with my sister, for quite a while actually. Though as I got older I more just liked to dress them up and play with their hair. Then I just stopped altogether. A few years ago I found a ton of them in the basement, but they were covered in mildew and cat pee, so I had to throw them away. ...Toy Story now makes me feel EXTREMELY guilty...T_T

Oh my gosh! I'm sorry to hear about that! (R.I.P Your Barbie's...)

With me, my collection was always limited. Only because my mom didn't want to spoil me. I would say I had a bin filled with them. I only had one ken too...until My Scene Barbie's came along. I had three after that. But A LOT of Barbie's. I played a lot with my sister until she got into the teenage-depressed stage. But I always had my best friend Jamie who had twice the stuff I had. She still has them now. :) My favorite story line to play was that my room was a castle. I would make up rooms with washcloths and blankets and shoe boxes. And I would pretend there was a ball and guests were coming. Then a commoner (it was basically Cinderella) fell for the Prince and the Prince fell for the commoner. XD

Aww! Cute! I think we only did that kind of thing occasionally, by my sister's request. I was the weird one. My barbies all had magic powers and could fly and teleport (which is extraordinarily convenient, by the way) and fight off the bad guys, which I usually also played because I'm just that twisted and loved it (still do when I feel like it in the RP's...). ..And then they'd go shopping by the beach or something like that. XD

Laugh out loud! That sounds fun. :D I also liked to play that my Barbie's were Ballerinas! Ha I had a Brittney Spears Barbie and I had a Queen Emidila (I don't think I spelled her name right...she's the queen from Star Wars..) Barbie. :D Fun times, fun times. But it got scary when my sister got sexual with the Barbie's. O.o A lot of threesome's going on at that time. :/

Amidala, right? haha I had Spice Girls barbies, Sailor Moon barbies, an Anastasia Barbie, a Jasmine Barbie, and a ton of regular barbies, too. haha We'd play with them in the tub, too. I had one Jasmine barbie that had a flower on her wrist that was supposed to bloom in the water or something like that... XD Funtimes...

You had Sailor Moon etc Barbie's!!? LUCKY! -jealousy- I DID have a Princess Arora Barbie. I remember having an Ezmerelda Barbie. And I'm pretty sure I used to have an Ariel Barbie. But those went gone fast. I still have an Erika Barbie from the movie Barbie in the Princess and the Pauper. :)

haha Yup! My mom bought them in doubles, too, so we still have others left in the boxes as collectibles. They're never coming out. They're just so beautiful. I never liked Aurora...even as a 4 yr old, I thought she was stupid. I was on Team Maleficent. XD My sister had a valentine's day Ariel barbie. She came with a pink swimsuit with red hearts.

Ha haha she is stupid and I never liked her because I hated pink. -_- But she was my sisters and she looked better in blue. She always played the mean person in my Barbie's stories. Just...you. Are. So lucky. I DID have a Tinker Bell Barbie once...but she was destroyed after two years. I also had Mary-Kate and Ashley Barbie's along with an Aaron Carter Barbie. @_@ I also had a Jane one from Tarzan now that I remember! :D But I think that was it. :/

haha ya...I know. I was such a cool kid. My mom made sure of it. I was the only one on the block with Wellies, half a million barbies, and a homemade halloween costume. >D People didn't start hating me until I got to Virginia. People are so rude here. But now they all grew up and realized I was so much better than them.....>.> Or they could still hate me. I dunno. But I had the cool kid toys. haha

I never played with barbies as a kid, though apparently I kept asking for them .. I always wondered why my parents kept buying me dolls.

Now I buy them to steal their clothing. Barbie clothing fits a tiny asian ball jointed doll near perfect, and my tiny needed some cheap clothing.

I took a writing class last year, Writing 121, and the first topic they had us write on was something nostalgic. So, I thought about it for a while, and chose to write about Bubble Barbie. [It actually turned out to be a really cool paper].
To make a long (well written, thought out) story short, I was kinda young and I wanted this Bubble Barbie that I saw on tv. She was awesome. She had hard plastic wings with holes in them that you dipped in bubble solution and when you ran around, they made bubbles (or at least, they were supposed to make bubbles.) I begged my parents for one for Christmas, and the day I got it, I was sorely disappointed because when I tried her out, she couldn't make any bubbles at all. It was my first barbie ever, and I think my sister still has it tucked away somewhere (she's four years younger than I). Quite a few years later, my sister actually cut the Barbie's hair, so it looks totally awful, but I think I'll always have a place in my heart for Bubble Barbie.

Awww! I remember wanting the ones that you could supposedly make walk, but my mom refused because she said they looked freaky without any knee joints. And my older friend had THIS one. She used it to help me learn my cursive letters. I think that's the only way I remember that 'z'.... haha

Why is it that in barbie and other doll commercials, it always looks like the Barbie is doing all the moving? It never looks that good when you're actually playing with them.

haha I found a site: Barbies of the 90's I wanted to see if I could find the Barbies I used to toy test (ya, I got to play with the barbies before they released..>D) and I found some I actually owned. Like the Blossom Beauty one and I think the Hollywood one (the dress looks familiar). And then there's THIS site. I had the Twinkle Lights Barbie, my sister and I had Tori and Chelsie from the Generation Girls dolls, along with the computer game, I had Cool Color Barbie, sister had Teresa, I may have tested Hula Hair, and some of the others look oddly familiar, too. >.>

I had that tape! I think it might still be around somewhere. I hope sooo. That was one catchy song! I never even liked the color pink! When I lived in Alabama, me and a couple "friends" held little concerts on top of the picnic table during recess. hahahaha

ooo...were they the original polly pockets that were so small you could choke on them? Or the later ones...?

And ya. I remember getting a Barbie doll that came with a nightgown for me and her. =]

the absolutely tiny ones, my older sister got one where she had this little house thing and you could wear it as a necklace, and it looked like a flower, so naturally i took it from her, and sort of swallowed the little polly thing...oops...=]

I never really played with barbies unless you count stripping off their clothing and then promptly discarding them into a pile of other naked barbies.
