Theo sat in a corner of the tavern, a little covered by shadow. His hood over his head, shadowed his face. He watched people as they came and went. He was just coming in to stay out of some back lightning that was going on outside. He seemed to attrack it when he was standing in a lightning storm. He glanced around at the faces, what they were doing and even analyzed how drunk each of them were. Just out of boredom.

Resisting the urge to grumble at being caught in a storm, Vivi quickly hustled into a nearby tavern. While she would have otherwise removed her hood when she entered a building, she didn't feel like taking the risk of exposing her ears and eyes. Finding a relatively empty table, she ignored the drunken clamor around her as her cobalt gaze scored the tavern, making sure to avoid anyone who was likely to start a fight. After all, her race wasn't generally welcome in this part of the world...
Almost sighing, she ordered a drink before continuing her examination, more to keep the tavern's keeper off of her back than wanted to drink the liquid.

Theo's gaze landed on a small person who came bustling into the tavern. His gaze stayed on her as she came in and found a secluded table. His eyebrow raised slightly, examining her from head to toe. She was hiding something under her hood, though so was he, so who was he to judge. His ears were a dead ringer for what he was. Many people mistook him for a wood elf though, and he got a little upset when they did. So, he avoided the whole conversation now. Just keeping them covered caused less trouble. He was curious as to why she was hiding though. He motioned slightly for the bartender to come over to him, then gave him a message to give to the girl that just came in. It was in a note form, which he'd written out quite quickly. It asked her politely if she'd come sit with him, that he wasn't one to judge, whatever she was hiding.

Sighing to herself, she continued to look down at the liquid in the glass, moving the cup languidly to stir it. She wasn't even sure why she was here. She had left the safety of her kingdom, and for what? It wasn't like she had a real reason in the first place except for she 'wanted to find the beginning'. Smiling a half grimace, she did a silent toast to her own naive self before sipping her drink.
"Mam, for you," she hear a voice next to her and looked over to see the bartender holding out a note. Setting her drink down, she took the note with a quiet nod of thanks before reading it. Raising an eyebrow under her hood, she sent a questioning look to the man the bartender pointed at. And despite herself, Vivi found herself curious.
Silently, she grabbed her drink and headed over to the man's table, examining his figure much like he had done to her earlier, though she didn't realize this. Pausing for a second, she sat down before staring into his hood, curious as to why he asked her over but refusing to indulge that need any more than she had.

Theo watched the bartender, then the girl as she read the note. When she looked over he smiled slightly, though she probably couldn't see him do so. When she came over he smiled. "Hello, mam." He nodded slightly. "I'm betting you're wondering why I asked you over here. Am I right?"

"The thought crossed my mind," she replied evenly, though she couldn't stop the small smile that made its way onto her face. "I never expected to find someone calling out to me in here, that is certain," she continued easily, threading her fingers together before resting her gloved hands on the table. He certainly wasn't the type of person she would expect to find in such a place, at least not from what she had seen so far. However, she refused to jump top conclusions, one way or another. "So?"

Theo chuckled softly. "I was curious. My name is Theo." He nodded and pulled his hood back, only slightly. So you could see his face and his ears a little, with some hair. "Can you guess what I am?" He grinned, almost certain she would guess wrong.

Almost laughing when he explained that he was curious, she instead lifted and eyebrow when he lowered his hood lightly, letting her examine his features. Vivi could tell that he was an elve, that much was a given. However, he was unlike any elve she could remember seeing. Wood elves usually had brown hair, and no other type she could think of had crimson eyes. 'No, crimson isn't right...They are more like a dark amber....' she thought, thoroughly curious. "Not exactly. But you are certainly no woodland creature," she replied, grinning. "Any hints you would be willing to part with?"

Theo was absolutely thrilled that she had said what she did. And she took so long to examine him. He smiled a little handsomely. "Ah. I'm so glad you said that. I'll give you a hint, its a little wetter than the woodlands."

As he smiled, her stomach did a quick flip from a sudden nervousness, though it was gone the next second. "'Wetter'," she repeated back, thinking more about his statement. So, he was from the water, yet she had never heard about a water elf before...All of the sudden she remembered something, a passing rumor that she had heard a little while ago. 'Well, worth a shot,' she thought, grinning lightly though she was careful not to expose her fangs. "Are you a sea elf," she asked, though she didn't expect her answer to be close.

Theo watched her, grinning now. He nodded slightly when she said the clue back to him. Then watched her expression and her eyes as she thought through it. He didn't expect her to get it right either. When she answered, he didn't think he'd heard right, then his eyes narrowed. He leaned forward slightly and stared into her eyes. "How did you know that?" His tone was flat.

Seeing his eyes narrow, Vivi blinked a few times before laughing softly. "Wow, I can't believe I was right," she muttered softly before resting her elbows on the table, inadvertently leaning forward to get comfortable. "I heard a rumor a while back about a sea elf, though I didn't believe it. Didn't seem possible until now," she explained, keeping her voice and tone level, though her eyes sparkled lightly with amusement. "Seems I have been proved wrong once again," she finished before leaning back, taking a sip of her drink despite the fact that it didn't sound appetizing in the least.

Theo just listened to her, then leaned back and pulled his hood forward slightly. He uncomfortable with being the source of someone's amusement. "Its not impossible, young lady." He watched her drink that swill, a slight disgusted look crept onto his face. "How do you drink that?"

Slightly disappointed that he covered his face back up, she took another sip though she it back for inspection when he asked his question. "By pretending it is something else far less disgusting," she replied bluntly, though she grinned again. "That and stubbornness of having no wish to waste the money that went in getting this." With a small cheering motion, Vivi downed the rest of the glass, expertly handling her distaste behind a collected mask. "Honestly though, this stuff could kill a human..." she muttered, more to herself then anyone in particular.
Setting down the glass, she pushed it to the edge of the table so that it was out of her way before turning back to him. "Back to identification, my race isn't uncommon. Merely... unwelcome here," she said solemnly, pausing for a second before lifting her hood enough for him to see her ears before replacing it.

Theo did watch her when she downed the drink, though it made him a little sick to watch. "That's putrid." He cringed slightly. Then nodded slightly. "I'm surprised you didn't drop dead the minute it hit your throat." He watched her as she discarded the glass, though he chuckled softly. "Stubborn indeed." He then peered at her again. "What exactly are you?"

She chuckled lightly before grinning. "But now I don't have to drink anymore."
And though his comment made her want to laugh, his last question made her stop. "Me? I'm a neko, through and through," she said, almost as if it was a common table conversation, yet she made it so her voice wouldn't carry over to unwanted ears. "Panther to be exact, but no one cares for the specifics anymore." And just thinking about that made the temptation for calling another drink all the stronger, no matter how foul the stuff was. However, she refused to go down the path of drinking away her sorrows. It never worked. It only made things worse.
After a second, she grinned again, her fangs showing lightly at the motion, though not in a threatening way. "So, elf, mind telling me your name," she asked, trying to shift the conversation in a different direction.

Theo's body seemed to perk slightly when she told him what she was. He blinked and looked at her. "Panther?" He leaned over the table a little and peered at her curiously. "Wow...I rather love panthers." He grinned slightly. He could hear the sorrow in her voice when she said the second part and frowned slightly. "I don't like people assuming I'm a woodland elf either, but they do." He shrugged slightly and sat back. He hadn't really meant to be so cold, but it was like a reflex now. He watched her for a moment as she sat there. Then grinned again. "Theo....its actually Laurtheo...but please use Theo."

Smiling lightly as he tried to help reassure her, she chuckled lightly, trying not to linger on the fact that he had said he loved panthers. "It is good to meet you, Theo," she responded, both to be polite and to test his name, which she surprising liked. "I am called Vivianne, or Vivi, whichever is easiest," she continued, holding out her hand automatically. "I have to admit, I'm glad that I came over here. It isn't so often you meet someone friendly, whether or not it was sparked by curiosity," she said with a laugh.

Theo watched her for a moment, thinking about what she was thinking on. He could tell, it was in her eyes. He'd become very good at reading people, sense he was older than most beings could be and he'd seen many more species. He smiled at her when she said his name, she was one of few that actually said it right. Most said it like 'Thee-o' instead of 'Thay-o'. He nodded with a smiled. "Vivi." He sort of looked at her hand questioningly when she held it out, then slowly took it, but only for a second. He grinned. "I'm also glad you came over. I was actually expecting you to tell me off."

Her smile widening into a grin as her took her hand, she lowered it back to her other hand. "Any other time or place, perhaps I would have," she responded, still grinning. Silently, she turned to scan the others in the tavern, snorting inwardly when she saw some start to sing. "Honestly. No composure," she muttered with a small sneer, watching as a few tumbled to the ground. It disappeared, thought, when she turned back to Theo, her expression much gentler.

Theo watched her when she looked around. He could see the disgust in her features. Which, truthfully made him glad. He didn't want someone like her to be caught up in rediculous acts of other people. Especially not these kinds of people. He smiled at her. "I agree wholeheartedly. I'm only in here to avoid the lightning. Were I in it, truthfully, I'd probably set the whole town ablaze on accident." Which was half true. He would have done so, but not really on accident. Lightning sort of took control of him and wrot destruction on its own whim. He wasn't old enough, or experienced enough to control himself in those circumstances yet.

Smirking slightly, she nodded in a agreement. She may not have understood the entirety of his statement, but there was enough for her to agree with. "I don't like being outside in storms," she said lightly, looking in another direction before scanning the crowd once again. "While there may be good effects in the long run, to many things can happen in the dark in between." After a moment, she chuckled lightly before turning back. "After all, isn't this whole world caught in one big storm?"

Theo blinked, then just looked at her for a moment. "I suppose." She was a curious thing...whenever he thought he had her figured out, she went and threw something in like that. He sighed mentally, 'women'. Then leaned back and watched her from under the hood, wondering what she'd do if he didn't say anything else about the state of the world.
