Theo blinked slightly and noticed something in the way she was so still. "How long has it been since you've seen them?"

Hearing his question, she tensed fractionally. Not because of the question, but because of her answer. She couldn't remember how long she had been away. "I wonder... Around four years, perhaps," she answered after a moment, her tone friendly, yet at the same time slightly guarded, though she herself was unsure as to why.

Theo really wanted her to trust him, he knew it wouldn't be easy for her, just as it wouldn't for him. "That's a long time...I haven't seen my brother in only 5 months. Too short a time."

Blinking lightly as he talked about his own brother, she wondered about his statement. Did that mean that he and his brother were on sour terms? Or perhaps she was just thinking about it wrong. But if she was right...that would be such a sad thing. Biting the inside of her cheek, she sighed inwardly before closing her eyes as she came to a small decision. "I was born a few years after my brother," Vivi started, knowing that telling a little bit about herself wouldn't be bad. "I was not illegitimate in any way. But I was... unnecessary I suppose one could say. My parents didn't want a girl, and they already had an heir. Yet I never hated my older brother..." She murmured the last part, almost as if she had lost some confidence in herself as she spoke, yet her tone was still solid.

Theo absorbed the information and nodded slightly. "My brother and I...well...lets just say we don't like each other. He and I got into it over a girl...and well...he did some pretty cruel things to get her."

Over a girl, she wondered silently, feeling a little jealous, though she herself wondered why. It wasn't like she had any reason to. Sure, Theo was handsome enough, but that didn't mean anything. What he was saying about his brother. "Cruel things? To you," she asked automatically, though she would have cursed inwardly at her question, which she feared would make the awkward silence from before return.

Theo just looked away after a moment. "It's not really what you may be thinking..." His eyes seemed to become sad. "She was a very dear friend of mine....we were more siblings than my brother and I ever were." His sigh was a bit shakey, almost as if he was trying to keep in his emotions. "He twisted her against me, taking her for himself...somehow convincing her that I'd betrayed her..."

Her eyes widening slightly in surprise at this, Vivi resisted the urge to turn around to face him, though the reason was only partially because of herself. She felt guilty for jumping to conclusions so fast, and was embarrassed by it. But she was also confused. She didn't understand why his brother would do such a thing, it just didn't make any sense. But instead of asking, she merely brought a hand to his, grasping it slightly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up something so painful."

Theo blinked slighlty, then sighed softly and gently squeezed her hand. "It's fine."

"Is it really," she murmured silently, resisting the urge to sigh herself. After a few moments of silence, Vivi tensed slightly, her ears twitching to face behind them as she focused on a sound. It had only been for a second, but she could have sworn that she had heard footsteps behind them. And despite the fact that it was most likely either her being jumpy from earlier or it simply being a coincidence, she felt uneasy.

Theo looked down at her after a moment. Had she felt like she did something wrong? It had been a bit prying, but it wasn't like he hadn't done the same thing. His arm tensed slightly around her when he saw her ears and body react like that. "Are you alright?" He asked softly.

She stayed silent for a few more moments, her ears strained to listen for the earlier sounds. However, she was unable to hear anything after that one incident. "I thought I heard something behind us," Vivi replied to his question, her body starting to relax once again, though she still couldn't shake the feeling unease.

Theo nodded slightly, though he wasn't convinced that she was totally wrong. He appeared to be relaxed, but ready to spring into action at any moment. If worse came to worse, he could always make a run for it with her.
