I seem to have a new question every day, even though I have only been here for 2 days in total. Oh boy. But today's question, since I have been seeing it a lot on profiles..

What is a permalink? What does it do? Is it a special or something?

Actually, it just allows you to link to a thread's content from the particular post that you psted the link from. Say you wanted to show someone a conversation that started at post number 123 in a thread, then you'd use the permalink from post 123.

Where as if you only wanted to show post 123 you'd use the numbered link next to the permalink :)

Try them both out by pasted each link into an empty url and you'll see :yes:
