Serena rolled her eyes and turned away, facing the wall. She felt like her heart was being ripped into pieces, she didn't want anyone to see her tears should they come... she secretly thought that Cassiel was just faking the whole being blind thing. "I don't know, you go ask him. He seems to think I'm in love with him" she argued, her voice breaking this time.

Cassiel listens. "Honestly, are you? Kindly don't lie to me." He pauses, hearing vomiting from the bedroom. He shudders and shifts a bit. "...I certainly don't need to ask him. That's my answer..." He shuffles forward, having been dragged not near the couch. His hand absently reaches out until it hit the couch. He then settles himself on the arm, not fully sure where she was, due to her tears.

Serena reached back and pulled him onto the couch. "It doesn't matter if I love him or not, he doesn't love me, he never will. so even if I do love him, which I don't, it would be futile. All it would end with is me with a broken heart" she shot back, allowing a single tear to fall down her cheeks. She still faced the wall, however.

Cassiel sighs. "If he didn't love you he wouldn't be in what I hope to be the bathroom-- throwing up, now would he?" he points out. "Cormac's been hurt a lot more than you think, mainly by women...and you telling him you don't love him, then hinting that you do, then taking it back again only cements that pain." His eyes absently direct themselves towards the bedroom, looking saddened.

Her chin trembled and her heart clenched in pain "he doesn't love me" she whispered. The tears were eminent now, so she stood up and walked outside, sitting out in the rain. At least this way she could hide the tears in the rain. "I want to go home" she whispered to herself, wanting to get away from Cormac... desperately. It tore her apart that she hurt him... but she just couldn't believe Cassiel when he said that Cormac did, in fact, love her. She could believe him. If he loved her, he wouldn't have kissed Cassiel. She rested her head in her hand, letting the tears flow freely, racking her body. She didn't care one bit about the rain... she didn't even notice the thunder. She felt as thought her heart was not only being ripped straight from her chest, but as thoguh it was being torn in shreds.

Cassiel carefully follows her to the doorway. "The only reason he kissed me was to see if you cared. And you told him you didn't. That it didn't bother you." He sighs. "I'm going to go stop him from effectively killing himself from throwing up too much...Come in when you're calmer," he mumbled, slowly heading to Cormac. It wasn't too hard for Cassiel to get to him, with his powers.

Serena didn't move. I suppose this is why I like Cassiel... he knows things and makes me feel better, she thought. She was nervous, however, about going back inside. The doubt was still there in her mind and heart. However, the pain in her heart had disappeared a bit. She wiped back some of her tears. She looked up and watched the rain fall on her tears.

Cassiel can be heard talking quietly to Cormac--who was replying sharply. It seemed like Cormac wasn't buying anything Cassiel was saying, which was odd. Normally Cormac followed whatever Cassiel said without blinking. Cormac's voice was hoarse and didn't sound good.

Serena turned back and looked at the house. She shivered, seeing as how she was soaking wet. She stood up and walked back inside, partly for her health, partly to try and talk to Cormac. She knew that he normally listened to Cassiel. As she moved to Cormac's room, she slipped on the water that was dripping around her feet. As she fell, she ended up smashing into Cormac's door, effectively landing her flat on her face in his room.

"That sounded painful," Cassiel points out from inside the bathroom, which was on the other end of the room. He then sighs at Cormac. "Macy, listen to me...," he murmurs. "I said, get out. Nothing you can say can change my thoughts. Now, out before I punch you," his voice is dull and bitter. Cassiel stands his ground. "...Would your mother want this?!" he snapped, knowing he was going to get hit.

Serena laid there a few moments, unmoving, listening to the conversation. Ow... pain... intense pain... she thought, moving her arms back, pushing herself up. She gritted her teeth against the pain, she was still bruised from her father's latest beating owowowowowowowowowowow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she screamed inside of her head, biting back the tears and scream that threatened to be let out.

"You're dancing on the fine line of my temper, Cassiel. I wouldn't push me. I will hit you." Cormac says this quietly, his voice shaking. "You're wrong, you realize. She does care." Cormac doesn't answer for a moment, silently throwing up again. Once he finishes, he sighs. "Liar. You're a liar, Cassiel."

Their words penetrated Serena's heart. She wanted to call out to Cormac and tell him how wrong he was. At the very least, he was her friend. She was not afraid of telling him that. However, because of the fall, she couldn't do anything but kneel on the floor, doubled over in pain, she couldn't even speak. Someone... please... help, she thought, barely realizing that Cassiel read souls.

Cassiel shuffles out of the doorway for a moment and kneels down next to her. He closes his eyes and heals the wounds. He then stands up and scurries back to the doorway. "Cormac, why aren't you listening to me?" He rubs his neck, frowning. "You have every reason to hide this from me, Cassiel. ...And I know I'm right. That's why I'm a hermit. So, just go. Leave me alone."

Serena sat in stunned silence for a moment after Cassiel left, before she turned her head to the doorway where Cormac's voice was coming from. She pushed herself and strode over to it. She stood in the doorway and looked at Cormac. She mustered up all her courage, strode forward, and slapped Cormac as hard as she could. Angry tears flowed down her face "just a note, if you wanted me to admit to anything, you shouldn't do the one thing that rips my heart out!" she shouted.

Cormac just sits there, stunned. "...You said you didn't care," he points out hollowly. Cassiel steps back, at the violence. He presses himself against the door frame, making himself as small as he could. It seems to be a habit of his. He listens closely though.

She took a few deep breaths to calm herself. "You were kissing him. Why would I tell you what I really thought? In my mind, that was you pointing out that my silly little crush on you would never go anywhere!" she yelled. She breathed heavily, when she spoke again, it was in a low voice. "Yet, from what I hear... your intent was quite the opposite."

"I'd never do anything like that with Cass. That's just gross, no offense." He rests against the toilet and sighs. "You'd be right. That wasn't my intent." His voice is flat and dull, almost like he's given up. Cassiel chews his lip, worried at Cormac's tone.

Cormac's tone worried her as well. She opened her mouth to speak, but ended up sneezing. She twitched her nose and then sat next to him, purposely bumping him to make room for him. She sneezed again, recovered and bumped his shoulder "alright... so now you know I'm moody... you also know that I'm scared. There's only been one person in my life before that ever cared whether I lived or died. It was weird enough with you caring so much for me... I... I was scared to admit anything. I thought, though... that maybe it'd work out. But then you did that... and... I just... fell apart" she told him, pausing to sneeze again "ugh... I can see why you hate rain now... anyway" she continued, grabbing his hand and kissing his cheek. She was nervous, but the tone worried her so much.

"You don't need to lie to keep me from killing myself, or whatever you think I'm going to do," he responds, his voice still hollow. His eyes are locked on the spot between Cassiel and the wall. Cassiel stares at him, thinking. "She's not your mother," he murmurs, going slightly tense, as if waiting for an attack. "I repeat, shut up or I'm punching you. Hard." Cormac's voice is still hollow, but a tad more bitter.

Serena rubbed her thumb across the back of his hand. "I don't pour my heart and soul out to someone before I lie. It's hard enough doing it to tell the truth... it's making yourself vulnerable... vulnerable to attack... something I've learned is the worst thing on the face of the planet. Yes, your tone really pushed me to do things I won't normally do... but I meant every word" she told him softly.

Cormac nods, still not really buying it. His eyes are still on the wall, and watching Cassiel slightly. "I don't suppose you'd believe me when I say she's not lying, now will you?" Cassiel folds his arms, frowning. "I've told you I have no reason to lie." "If she's skilled enough at faking emotions they can seem real to you."

Serena stood up and faced him "why would I do that? I've barely known you for a day. Why would I do any of this to save you or whatever you think my motive is. I grew up relying on myself. I didn't give help to anybody, and I never let anyone give me any help. I always always too busy getting beaten to a fricken pulp by my drunk father who for some reason blames me for everything, especially my mother's death. I have no one to turn to, not even Jake in all his best friend glory. Why in the world would I put all that behind me and try and save your pathetic life? You were right... you're just an idiot in tin foil. I can't believe I ever thought you might be the one that could heal me" she shot back at him. She was upset and hurt. She stared at him for a few moments before turning on her heel and walking back to the living room. Once there, she curled up on the couch and cried.

Cormac slowly gets up and flies out the door. He sprints to the stable and grabs Sepia. He then takes off, riding her as fast as he can. Cassiel tries to catch him before he leaves. "Oh, dear god...he's..." Cassiel slowly walks back in and leans against the doorframe. "Would you like to know why he doesn't trust you?" Without waiting for an answer, Cassiel continues. "His mother basically used him for whatever she needed, sold him out for money. His father could never stop her, she wouldn't listen. One day, when the stress became too much, he lost control, shifted and killed them both...with his sister standing there. Sera ran away and joined Angeni, who as you know, killed her. He lost the female he cared about most, seemingly because of the woman he cared about least." The entire time Cassiel's voice is calm and quiet.

Serena quietly listened to Cassiel, aware of how worried he was "so I guess you're really mad at me, then, for pushing him to go do whatever he's doing. Fine, be that way... just do me a favor and get in the back of the ever-growing line and wait your turn to punish me like everyone else. But honestly, what was I supposed to say to him? I was already telling him the truth... I told him things that I never told anyone. What more could I have possibly done? Nothing I could've done would've persuaded him to believe me! I wanted him to believe me... I wanted him to be everything I ever wanted... Now I see that's a stupid dream. It's like me hoping that one day my dad will forgive me and be my daddy again, the way he was before mom died... the way he was when life was wonderful and he would be my knight in shining armor to scare away bad dreams and slay dragons... I wanted to believe it could happen again. I wanted to believe it was him... but I can't. I grew up hiding my emotions... my father raised me to be this way, even though it was unintentional. I just... I just want to be loved... I want him to love me... I want him to believe me when I say I love him" she cried, breaking down into more tears, giving in and letting all of her emotions out.
