Andy grinned.

"Ideal time to get some more reading done," she said. "It's not as if we're going anywhere."

"Exactly!" Belle grinned. "Bet you can finish that series in the next couple days."

She turned the eggs carefully, making sure the sand was well-packed in around them. And then she looked over at Lien and Temeraire, still rather amused. Sure, she was used to the thought of dragons being protective of eggs, but this was her first time seeing it.

"A book and a half left," Andy replied. "Easy." Getting up, she went over to get the book out of her bag, and then settled back in next to the egg. She leaned against it comfortably, though she made sure her dragons could see her and the egg at the same time. She knew exactly how protective they were of the egg, and she wasn't going to test it.

Belle snorted and pulled out a notebook, starting to write. Eclipse glanced at the pages before he braided her hair back for her, settling in next to her.

"What're you writing?" Andy asked when she glanced over after a few minutes. "Anything interesting?"

"You can read it if you want. I'm working on another story, trying to get it done. We'll see how it goes." Belle shrugged. "Figured I might as well since we'll be here for a while, so I have time to sit and write."

"Well, if you end up needing a proofreader or anything..." Andy replied. She grinned. "But no, really, I'd love to read it at some point."

"Cool." Belle grinned. "Well maybe after you finish the series, or if you're between books or something. I've got it all written down."

"Sure," Andy replied. "Let me finish these first so I'm not completely confusing myself, and then I'll read it."

"Yeah, that's what I figured." Belle chuckled and went back to her writing.

Andy snickered a bit and went back to reading. She was comfortable where she was, so she didn't bother getting up at all.

Belle only got up at dinner time. Dejaal had gotten a deer for them, so she went off to go butcher it to the best of her ability. And then cook up a slab of meat for them with rice.

"You could make one of the males do that, you know," Andy called over to Belle when her friend started to take apart the deer. "It might be easier that way."

"You want me to trust one of them with a large, sharp, pointy object?" Belle raised her eyebrows, looking at her bishis. Half of them looked all too innocent, while the others just looked disinterested.

"So bully one of mine into it," Andy replied. "Yas can do it, I'm sure."

"I'm almost done," Belle said with a shrug. "I figured I can just let it drain out and then shove the meat in my PD freezer that I got." She grinned, kind of looking forward to being able to use it for the first time.

Andy grinned.

"You bought one?" she asked. "Awesome."

"I figured we'd need it, especially if we don't want to be eating fish every day." Belle grinned. "I got the slightly less than industrial size one. It's literally a walk-in freezer. So I can keep a lot in there."

Andy snickered a bit.

"A walk-in?" She shook her head. "Only in this world can you get a walk-in freezer than you can keep in your pocket."

Belle snickered as well.

"Seriously. But hey, it works. And I can keep something like three or four whole deer stored at a time. I knew it would be a good idea."

"Which is a wonderful thing," Andy replied. "Fish is great, really it is, but red meat is even better."

"Yes. Yes it is." Belle grinned. "I think I might go off with my guys and find a pig and a cow, and store those in there so we have some variety."

"Take one of the dragons when you do," Andy replied. "They're good at spotting food from the air."

"Oooo, good idea. I hadn't thought of that." Belle grinned.

"I wonder if they get tired of fish too? Hey Temmy, do you actually taste the fish or does it vanish too quickly?"

"I would rather it have more flavor," Temeraire replied. "I am rather partial to spice and heat, though unfortunately we haven't had anyone who could cook that well for a long time."

Andy just shrugged. She knew she couldn't cook.

"What he didn't mention is that he loves variety, and we hardly ever find it," she added.
