Belle followed her quite calmly, relaxed and willing to just kind of take her time. For the moment at least. She wasn't in any particular rush to get anywhere.

The walk to the town was only a few miles or so, and didn't take long. Andy wasn't surprised to find that the roads in the town were wide enough for dragons to walk on; such things were done book-verse, so why not in the territory, too?

"Now, to find the place where they do harnesses," she said.

Belle snickered and pointed a little ways down the road to a leather working place. "Think they might do harnesses?" she teased.

Andy stuck her tongue out at Belle.

"Hush, you," she said. Regardless, she went with her friend towards the leather shop. The bell over the door dinged when they walked in, and one of the craftsmen inside looked up.

"Welcome!" he called. "What can we do for you today?"

Andy gestured back out the door, where her dragons were waiting.

"One of my Temeraires desperately needs repairs to his harness," she said. She paused. "Or an entirely new harness, whichever is easier at this point."

The craftsmen raised an eyebrow.

"One of?" he repeated.

Belle snickered. "Yup. She has two, now." She grinned, letting Andy explain that one.

"I was also wondering if I could get two harnesses for these guys." She pried the male off her and held him out for inspection.

"I have two Temeraires and a Lien," Andy clarified. "Still. One harness is all I need."

The craftsman nodded, and looked at the fire lizard.

"I think we can put something together for them," he said, nodding again. "Will they get much bigger than they are now?" He'd heard of creatures that small, but he'd never personally encountered anything smaller than a courrier-weight dragon from the surrounding territory, and even courrier-weight dragons were big enough for one rider.

"Mmm... Not much." Belle shrugged. "Maybe twenty five percent bigger? They only get maybe three feet long." She shrugged. "Makes it easier to snag them, if I have to."

The craftsman nodded again.

"That should be easy enough, then," he replied. "It'll have to be a custom job, though, so it might take a day or two to really dial it in just right for them. Is that alright?" He wasn't worried about a harness for a Temeraire at all. Those were easy enough to make, once the materials were gotten together.

"That's fine with me." Belle grinned. "I've never been here before, so that'll give me some time to look around and all that." She didn't mind spending a few days here.

The craftsman nodded.

"Alright, then," he said. He turned to Andy. "Alright, your turn. Let's go see how badly that harness needs attention."

He would regret those words.

Andy couldn't help but snicker a bit as the poor man gaped at the tears and holes in the leather of the harness.

"What... happened to it?" he asked.

"An eight-hundred-pound cat happened," Andy replied. "Kaelas... doesn't fly well. At all. And there was no other choice at the time."

"This is all going to need replacing," the man said, gesturing vaguely to the entire harness. "It'll need to be completely new."

"Have at it, then," Andy replied brightly. "Temmy knows to behave, and Li and Xiang don't need harnesses." She glanced at Xiang. "Unless you decided you want one...?" The dragonet shook his head.

"No," he replied. "I would rather a collar like Mother."

Andy inwardly cringed at the cost of such a thing, especially as the dragonet grew, but promised to figure something out.

Belle snickered, biting her lip when she saw the look of horror on the poor man's face. She put the two fire lizards on Temmy with a stern word to stay. She took three steps away before the little female vanished and reappeared on her shoulder again.

"I told you to stay here," Belle said sternly. The female cheeped at her, clearly scolding her, and she sighed. "Fine. Hopefully you can work from just the little guy. They're about the same size."

"If they'll stay about the same size, it'll be easy enough," the man said, pulling a tape measure out of one of his pockets. "Hold still," he said firmly to the little fire lizard when the creature fidgeted a bit. The measurements wouldn't take long to get, and then he would have to get the harness off of the Temeraire to examine it and see if there were any salvageable pieces.

Belle nodded, watching them to make sure the worker got his measurements. She didn't let the male come back to her until he was done, and then he hid behind the female. She rolled her eyes at the two of them.

"Need any help getting the harness off?" she asked. She wouldn't mind clambering around getting the harness off.

"Sure," Andy replied, already climbing up Temeraire's side to start undoing the buckles on the harness. "We just need to get it loose enough, he can take it off himself from there."

Belle nodded and helped her get it loosened. It wasn't too hard to figure out. Besides, she was glad to help. Temeriare was rather big after all.

Once the harness was sufficiently loosened, Andy climbed back down so that Temeraire could get it off. Once he had, he laid the harness down in front of the leather shop, and actually in an impressively neat pile. The craftsman nodded and shooed them all away.

"Come on back a little later and I'll give you an estimate on how long this'll take," he said. "I need to sift through this... disaster."

Belle snickered, totally unsympathetic, and started walking.

"Well. Shall we go find a hotel? Or do you want to camp out?"

"Let's go find a hotel," Andy replied. "The roads here are big enough that the dragons don't have to stay outside the town, so we can find a good place to crash for the night."

Belle grinned and nodded. "Good. I was hoping you'd say that. I really, really want a shower."

Andy grinned.

"So do I," she replied. She couldn't blame Belle in the slightest for wanting a hot shower. It had been a while since either of them had gotten one, and Andy could tell Belle was just as desperate for a good hot shower as she was.

Belle nodded and found a good hotel for them before she glanced over at Andy.

"You want your own room or shall we share and set up a couple of PD rooms?"

"I don't mind sharing if you don't," Andy replied. It would be cheaper that way, anyways, but she wouldn't object if Belle wanted her own room, either.

"PD rooms it is." Belle grinned and went over to order one room for the two of them. At least they got a bathroom, which was really all she cared about right now. Maybe she should look into getting a PD bathroom...

Andy went over as well, to chip in her share for the price of the room. Only fair, after all.

"You can have the shower first," she said to Belle. "I can wait till you're done."

Belle nodded. "Alright." She took their room key and headed up to their room. She was looking forward to a shower and a quiet night to read.
