After a little while, Andy glanced over at her friend.

"What're you reading?" she asked, tilting her head slightly as she asked. "Anything good?"

"The Chrestomanci Chronicles by Diana Wynne Jones." Belle grinned briefly. "They're very good. Very cute. And it's kind of an established universe thing so she can jump around and add side stories and such."

"It sounds familiar," Andy said. "I think I might have looked at it once. I've been more focused on series I've already started reading, though, so I haven't started many new ones lately."

"Yeah, I know the feeling. I have five books coming out in the next couple months, so I'll be busy with those." She grinned briefly. "I do love looking at new series though."

"I have a few books on my list coming out soon enough, too," Andy agreed, nodding. "It's always good when a new book comes out. We've had this conversation before, I think." She grinned. "Clearly, we both read FAR too much and far too often."

"Oh, naturally." Belle grinned. "Reading is far too fun, after all."

"But then you ignore us," Thomas said with a pout.

"I do not. You usually use me as a pillow and try to distract me whenever I'm reading. Besides, you let me know when you want attention. Which is all the time."

Thomas just grinned.

"Speaking of books..." Andy murmured, reluctantly moving away from Sesshoumaru, "I need to dig out something for Xiang." Going over to her bag, she started to dig down towards the bottom. "I keep a textbook around for exactly such a reason." She rummaged around for a moment longer before pulling out a calculus textbook. "Aha. Found it."

Belle made a face when she saw the textbook. "Yuck. I hate math. At least he won't expect any explanations from us."

"I barely understand any of it myself," Andy admitted. "I barely passed Algebra and Trig, there's no way I'm going to get Calculus at all." She shrugged even as she set the book aside. "I just read it, it somehow makes sense to the genius dragon brains."

Belle snorted. "Key words being genius dragon," she said, shaking her head. "Oh well. At least we don't have to actually understand it. If it were English, this would be a very different story. For both of us."

"Oh yes," Andy agreed. "I would be ashamed of myself if I had that kind of trouble with English." She grinned. "Thankfully, all I have to do is read out of the textbook and it somehow makes sense to them. I don't have to understand what I'm reading." She snorted. "Temeraires, on the other hand, love learning with a passion that defies logic."

Belle snorted. "I do remember that. It was rather funny, actually. I mean, sure, we learn stuff here, but not exactly from textbooks. Not very often." She grinned briefly. "Bet Temmy would make a great teacher."

"Not really," Andy replied, grinning. "I asked him to explain the calculus once. It didn't work." She shook her head a bit. It had been a bit of a disaster, and she hadn't tried to learn from Temmy again since.

Belle snorted. "Alright, scratch that idea." She grinned briefly, relaxing on the bed. "Hey, do they make dragon-sized books, or is it pretty much that you read to them whenever?"

"I'm sure they do, somewhere around here," Andy replied. "They do bookverse, at least, so I figure that there might be a place that makes them somewhere around the territory, but I've never gotten around to looking." She didn't mind reading to her dragons, really, since she was fairly sure that she would pick up on the calculus eventually. Maybe.

Belle nodded. "Yeah, I haven't gotten that far. I really need to go start reading that again..." She shrugged. "Eh. Oh well. Maybe after all these new books are out and I've read them all."

"Maybe," Andy agreed. "I know the newest one for THAT series should be coming out in the summer, after most of the others, so that might give you a little time. I think the author only has plans for nine books, and six are out at the moment." She grinned. "I love how I can keep track of those things without trying."

"Yup. It's not hard for us." Belle grinned briefly. "But it is fun. And you still need to read Diana Wynne Jones. And don't say you don't have time, because they're quick reads."

"I've read one," Andy protested. "And my reading list is almost as long as yours." she set the textbook aside for the moment. It was perfect: she had one Temeraire who knew calculus and one who would want to learn. She wouldn't even have to draw the diagrams in the dirt with a big stick this time.

Belle rolled her eyes. "Oh I know. And our lists are constantly growing, since we keep telling each other about books." She grinned briefly. She didn't mind that at all.

"Although it helps that we have a lot in common," Andy pointed out with a grin. She checked her gear absently. She was going to have to go and see about the dragon harnesses soon. She wanted to keep tabs on their progress.

Belle snickered. "This is true," she agreed. "We're stopping by Leandros-ville later. Just so you know. Because I really want to." She grinned.

"That's fine," Andy replied. "You still have yet to indulge Thomas and let him drag us into Dresden-world, too." Although, she had to admit, she looked forward to that one, too. There were some things just too good to pass up.

"Oh, I know. He won't let me forget." Belle rolled her eyes. "I figured we could hit up Dresden-land at the same time. That way we can get both of them in one go."

"I like that plan," Andy said. "Get one big sci-fi-fantasy fix all at once, sounds good to me." She grinned. That was going to be one hell of a stop, depending on who they managed to run into while they were there.
