Glad to hear it.

Ah, well good luck with college. I know how stressful that can be.
I've noticed the drama. It seems to come and go in groups.

search engines?
I really couldn't care less about that.
I just wish they had made announcement about it at all.
It would have been nice to hear about it before hand too.
Yeah, I bet this messes up a lot of links, and page prizes. I hate to think about some of the super big threads.
Yeah, I can tell this is going to cause lots of problems during events for me. My internet slows down horribly during events and with this added strain I just don't know.
That's crazy, you shouldn't get in trouble for stating your opionions.

Thanks :)

It's definitely not wanted not appreciated :( </3
I got enough of drama back in high school -- don't need it on a website where you're supposed to find mature conversation and be able to have a relaxing experience on, or however you want to word it lol
You know what I mean though :3

It wasn't trouble -exactly- -- but it was basically a message saying "Look here to see why we did it" and basically said that the negative affects, such as my predicament, affect very few people and it wouldn't be beneficial to ask or get opinions on it or whatever because it'll help the community over all :P
So I wasn't really in trouble, per-se~
My opinions just weren't appreciated :P
I don't buy into it, but whatever - their prerogative lol

And yeah -- it'll cause problems for anyone who links a page and doesn't link specific posts. Like in art shops, it'll affect those who's orders they have linked via page because there are multiple posts on the order and not just one~
I just wish we could have been notified so NO ONE would be in this predicament, and I know I'm not the only one :/
I mean, if we knew ahead of time, we could have bookmarked posts around where we needed to link pages -- so that when it was implemented, we could go back to the post we saved and relink the pages, ya know?
I really don't think that's too much to ask and I really don't think it's unnecessary upset on our part because of the way this change affects us :/

As for page prizes - yeah, it affects them greatly.
1000 pg threads get knocked down to 700ish
I know my RP of over 100 pages is now 70ish, and my thread that was over 200 pages is now 130ish~
Some people are really proud of page counts, ya know?
Now they have to work on getting them back up there again :/
My sister and I have to work back up to 100 pages on our RP again now after finally reaching it after almost 3 years I believe :/

I mean, over all it's not the end of the world, but it's still frustrating, ya know?
And I'm definitely glad to see someone else with the same views as me :3
Nice to know my sister and I aren't the only ones concerned with the over all affects! LOL

I mean, I can see the search engine thing -- but still :/
Being told to basically make our first pages full of search engine terms that they'll pick up and to make our front pages beyond amazing so it'll look pretty and entice people, not to mention write a whole bunch to make it look impressive, is a bit silly.
I get where they're coming from on it -- but when new people come and see a site that's been here since '07, with most of their threads having hardly any pages in them, it's going to look like an inactive site and failing due to inactivity :/
It kind of negates the "benefits" of the search engine, in my opinion lol

Wow, lots of chatting.

Yep, I agree. Especially since I try to stay caught up with the drama on here so when something blows I know what's going on.

Really in small matters this will effect every thread. Because of links, page prizes, and general change of pages. After we are used to it, it shouldn't cause too many problems but still.

And I agree I have only been seeing people saying they don't like the change.

Yep, I know what you mean. It would have simplified things.
I just hate that they said nothing about it. No announcements or anything. It is like they are acting like nothing changed. If they gave an announcement and said why they did it I wouldn't be as upset about it.

And I know I'm pretty upset about the page drop too. I mean I was really proud of how many pages this thread has gotten and how many my hangout finally got.

Yep, I know what you mean. Really personally this will not bother me. I don't have links, or page prizes. But it does hurt that I finally got a page count I was proud of and it is gone. And I can see how that would cause problems with the artists, charities, and some contests.

I guess the search engine will be a good thing but I'll have to wait and see about that.

psh, they can try as much as they want with the whole prettifying and search engine term thing but it will not change how I do things or make threads. I make threads how I want and that will not change as I break no rules.

I kind of agree. I know when I first joined this site (it was really new then) I was really iffy with it. I still joined because it looked like a cool site. But I know I've gone to other sites and looked at how long they have been around and looked at their threads and if they look small I usually just leave. I mean I don't want to have to sit around for days to get replies. And I can kind of see that happening here now.

Haha definitely!
But hey -- more convo means more gold :P
It's win/win 'cause we get to chat about our views AND get gold ^_^ <3

I don't much get into it lol
I stay out of it as much as possible because I have enough drama to IRL to last me a lifetime :/

Exactly~
But it'll cause major regrouping, major editing, etc.
In other words, a complete pain in the ass :P

You'd think that'd be a sign that the change isn't an improvement, but a negative thing :(

Precisely~
I mean, I'd still be upset, but why keep it secretive and make us figure it out on our own or "post in the Q&A forum", ya know?
I think a warning that it was going to happen would have saved a TON of hassle on EVERYONE'S part :/

Sameee -- I was happy my exchange had gotten as high as it did after almost 3 years haha
It was a lot of work 'cause no one ever chats there, ya know?
And same for my RPs -- my and my partners were VERY happy at how high we had gotten -- we sort of celebrated and then took a small break to take a breather before we started in again since we had just gotten through some big parts in the RP, ya know?
Now we have to work for those pages all over again :( </3
It's quite a let down :(

Oh I'm not changing my threads either lol
They are what they are -- can't change it~
I don't have time nor patience enough to prettify them more than they are when they hardly have any action anyways :P
The only reason my art request thread is pretty is because I bought it using gaia gold~
And my art threads STARTED to look pretty because I was going to pay briannamal with artwork for redoing my thread in a cute layout and giving me banners, but she kinda disappeared halfway through and has yet to complete it :/
I kinda gave up on it after multiple messages to her about it ^_^;;;

I know what you mean~
I sometimes don't get replies from people for 3-4 days -- my roleplays take weeks :/
I only have a few active roleplays right now, and I'm kind of bored in general on this site right now BECAUSE no one is ever on when I am in my regular threads--or rarely at least--so I'm usually just clicking around doing nothing but playing games to max while I wait for a reply :/
I'm on facebook more than I am on Mene 'cause they have games without limites so I can play them longer while waiting for replies and not be bored while doing so xD;
It really sucks that it only picks up during Events -- and that's because there are prizes to get :/

That is true. And gold is much loved. lol
Very true and very nice too.

I like to keep up with it because as soon as I don't then a friend will come to me and be like "did you hear this? I can't believe this happend?" or the drama will find its way to me or a thread/friend. And then even more drama happens because I have no idea what is happening.

Yep, it will be. And just reading through pages is going to be more of a pain because they are so long.

I think it could be that people are just upset because of the sudden change. It could be a positive thing but we will not know for awhile. But as of right now it is a negative since they didn't tell anyone.

I completely agree. Just a quick word would have worked.

I know what you mean. You have a thread for so long you wish for it to do good. And then bam your back.
Well at least we didn't lose actual posts. It is all still there but in a different spot. At least it didn't reset back a day like that one time and everyone lost the pages.

Yep, well I'm just not good at the super pretty stuff. I can put up banners and I can change the colors. I can even change sizes and underline/bold different things to make it slightly better but that is where it ends.
And half the time I don't care to as I would much rather spend that time chatting.
I hope she comes back. She's great.

Yeah, I gave up on roleplay because on here it is so slow and everytime I join one it dies. And on other sites they go to fast or become super retarded. So I just stopped.
Here lately I've just been going around and reading in threads and just posting in here.

I usually just read and every hour or so coming on here and checking.
I agree, and it is one of the reasons I started up this thread so fast (coughduringcough) after the other event. It is a nice place to chat and keep people involved in an event like mentality.

And I know some people are more active because they have a break from school/work but still the promise of new items and chances to win stuff helps.

It doesn't look like the snow will stick but the temperatures look to get super close to zero, which is kinda a worry. I would rather the pipes not freeze.

Lol
Isn't that always the case though?
Drama always finds you no matter how hard you try to avoid it LOL

Exactly -- and scrolling down is a pain in the ass --- ESPECIALLY when people have conversations that are long like ours is right now -- or when you have to respond to multiple people at once, ya know?

I honestly don't see it as becoming a positive -- it's not going to bring people here just because they see 25 posts on one page lol
And just because it pops up in the search engine more due to picking up words, doesn't mean people will look at it~
And when they do, it doesn't mean they'll join because looking at the page numbers? It looks like a slower site than it is, and right now it's slow enough. It probably looks like a snail site to people who don't know the site :(
Who knows -- maybe in the end it'll be something good -- but right now it sure ain't and I don't foresee it being one in the near future because of all the hassle it's creating for everyone -- ESPECIALLY once events roll around :/

Exactly -- it doesn't take much effort or time to write up a quick summary of what's going on, what's going to happen, why, and when :/
A simple message would have sufficed -- even something that pops up like when events end to give feedback -- or when the month comes to a close and they give a notice that the CIs are going out of the shops in a few days. If they can do messages like that, they can surely do something for something as big as this :/
I mean, it may not seem big to them -- but increasing by 10 pages is a lot and it affects a lot of people and a lot of threads, which they don't believe it does. They think the amount of people it affects is few and not worth the bother, so to speak :/
At least that's the impression I get from everything, ya know?

Omg I know. I would have legit through a huge fit about it because the last time it did it, I lost 5+ pages in almost all of my roleplays. It was NOT fun rewriting those. Not to mention the fact that the roleplays hadn't turned out the way we had them before :/
It was then that I started saving all of my roleplays. I've got all of my roleplays, except for two, fully backed up in a word document.
DEFINITELY not going through that again >.>

Exactly. I like my threads pretty, but there's only so much you can do with coding etc. It's not like you can make your posts look like a website!
I have colored font, some bolding, titles, and a picture and that's it lol
Other than my request thread -- and that's only because we're spending weeks on fixing it up 'cause we're redoing it completely :3
Had to start a new thread and get the old one trashed because they couldn't rearrange a few posts without deleting tons of posts and pages in order to get to our posts >.>
Sooo we have like, no pages in our request thread now xD;
It looks pathetic page-wise 'cause no one ever chats in our request thread to begin with~

I honestly don't know her that well -- she was a friend of a friend lol

I know what you mean :/
I have 2 active roleplay partners -- but one only does it while at college (I know her IRL and she hangs out with some pretty ridiculous people in my opinion -- drama filled back-stabbing a-holes to the core xD) and doesn't bother doing much with it at home due to always being with said "friends", and the other does it when she can but she's hardly on the computer much anymore lol
She's on more than she was, but she still has a hard time getting on haha
Other than that, I gave up on roleplaying because of the same reasons :3
I had a group RP going but people were quitting left and right, people weren't even notifying of quitting, etc. -- it was just terrible T_T
And then the only other person who was very active in the RP lost internet connection :gonk:
Sooo that RP kind of ended LOL

Precisely :3
Plus, thinking about the new event gets you excited -- especially when the planning and prizes start coming together :3

Exactly -- and that's a sad part of today's time on Menewsha in general -- not many people post and chat anymore :(
And if they do -- it's for a few posts, then hours or days go by, and then they post again~
Or chatting goes like this::
"Hey"
"Hey"
"What's up?"
"Nothing much, you?"
"Not much -- kinda bored."
And it's just kind of a boring conversation that really goes nowhere 80% of the time in general :(
I really hope it picks back up after my mini-hiatus :3

It sure is.
That's why I try to find it first before it finds me and kicks me in a tender place. lol

I know, exactly what I was just thinking. "man, this is going to be one super long page"
Yeah, quotes are going to make some really long pages too.

Well from what I saw was they changed it so that search engines would pick up more because they only look at the first page in a thread. But I don't really see how this will help with that. It will give it more info to look at but in threads that have a point of conversation the main points should be in the first post or posts. There should be something totally new and important on post 25. Ya' know?

They might join or they might just read the page, get the info they wanted and leave. I know. I hate to think how slow getting through a page was before. Now it will be even more painful.

I don't even want to think about events. Threads were crashing like crazy for me last time next time I doubt I will be in any major threads.

I would have been happy with just a "hey, we're going to make every page have 25 posts instead of 15. Fix anything you need to it changes in two days (or whatever time amount). This change will hopefully help us get more users." Really for me I wouldn't have need anything more then that.
Well, I guess compared to Gaia we have very few people on here so maybe they are saying that any amount of people having a problem is small. I don't know.

I think they just changed it after thinking about it for awhile. They didn't think it would cause problems and when it did they just went with it. Kind of "its their problem now"

I was so sad when it happened that time. I had maxed out on the games, had ordered lots of art, started chatting in several new threads. I ended up never finding some of the artists again.
That is a good idea. I would do that too for that kind of stuff.

I just tend to get bored with fixing up threads. I only fix up threads that I've had forever. Like my art request thread, exchange thread, etc. Shoot my hangout still doesn't have a banner or anything.

She helped with art for the last user event and she was really nice about it. And I've gotten art from her before and she has always been sweet.

Over the time I've been on here I've been involved with lots of RP threads. And while it might start with 10 or more people it always ends with me and one or two people being active. Then the few people who are still trying in the thread get upset that know one else posts and they leave.
Though I was posting in one where it was just me and one other person (out of 20 people) who posted for like three months. We had gotten really far into it and suddenly one of the other members came back and started posting. But she tried to act like she had been there the whole time and had done huge things. She tried to rewrite what had happened and me and the other poster stopped going in there because of it.

I know. Everything is exciting about it. ^^
We can see it all coming together now and it's great.

I know. And I have to admit that I'm one of the guilty parties. I hardly post when it isn't an event. This is by far the most I've posted since the event.
I've noticed that is how the conversation has been on here for awhile.
And I do that too. But usually after we've gotten that out of the way we actually start talking about things.

I try to talk in my threads as much as I can. But I know there has been times that I've gotten on to chat and just been like "bleh" and really not wanted to post.

----------

look at this thread: here
it is a recruitment contest

Hahaha I bet!

Yeahh - it's going to be hell on slow internets -- I mean, it's already hell on mine!

Exactly. And it's about how many clicks a link gets for the search term -- that's how it moves up in the list or whatever -- it's the amount of clicks, not the contest :/
But whatevs -- we're not in the administration, we're the "small people in the community that don't really matter much" in the over all site :/
It's not going to change, unfortunately.
But we small people are the ones that keep this site from going under and all members should be considered, not just those who they think are more important than others and who basically gets a say in it, ya know? It's a bit frustrating when you're lumped in the "small group that it affects" category, when in retrospect everyone we have talked to either hates the update for the reasons we mentioned, or doesn't like it but will get used to it since it's how things are going to be :/
I mean without us, Mene wouldn't really exist -- it's a forum site, like my sister was saying when we were discussing it~
It's the pages, the posts, etc. that keep Mene flourishing -- not the little dollies you can dress up and the items you can collect. Yeah, they're a nice bonus, but dressing up an avi and playing games only get you so far -- it's the conversation that makes a site. And if people are having a hard time loading pages, etc. -- the conversation is going to decrease even further because people are going to say screw it and not chat much due to the lag in loading time :/

And I agree completely -- the front page of our thread has NOTHING to do with how people see the site. They're not going to join or not based on one freaking thread. They're going to look at the site as a whole, not go into each thread and go "Oo, pretty front page. This is cute! I'm going to join!" -- if anything they're going to be "This site is slow.. crapload of writing on the front pages, image heavy, loading is ridiculous, etc."
I honestly don't see this as being a positive thing at all :/
But who knows, I could be wrong.
Hopefully it'll turn out alright, though I highly doubt it will.
I think they'll see that comes the next event.

Exactly. It's our problem now and they're going to make it look like it's our issue and it's a wonderful and glorious thing, when it's really just a pain in the ass hassle the could have been avoided with a simple poll. I mean, they're polling about the event commons for crying out loud! I think that's a little less important than the lagging and hassle etc. that this new update is causing, ya know?

I don't think it's that we're smaller, I think it's just that they were talking amongst themselves and didn't think of the userbase as a whole in this decision process because they made it so we can directly link posts. So basically page linking is "a thing of the past" and it won't affect anyone if they do this.
Like I said above, if they can post a pool and announcement about event commons, they could have had the consideration to do it about something bigger and more important like post counts on pages in my opinion. :/

I would be pissed about that :/
Even more so than losing roleplay posts. Having lost all of that, especially on top of RP posts, would have made me go on hiatus from Mene so I could take a break before I dealt with all the mayhem it created lol

o.O
I hate people like that..
They really annoy me. I honestly would have just reported the posts and unwanted and gotten them removed or something 'cause coming back to an RP and doing stuff like that, when you basically left without notice and quit the RP, is just wrong :/

Exactly <3
I just hope I can get the game to go smoothly T_T

I wish my convos were like that -- most of mine don't go that much out of the basics unless I really know the person well or it's my sister XD;
Or I walk in on some discussion lol

I post a lot -- but sometimes it can take me awhile because I'm either busy IRL or it's hard for me to keep up with all the threads at one time or I'm replying to RPs while chatting :3

Haha I know what you mean -- I've been the same way -- especially lately :3

Oo -- it looks like a good idea!
I hope it works <3

Ah, I'm so not a fan of this weather, its so crazy. Ah look its snow, no wait its ice, and lets add some arctic wind. Bleah. Makes me wish my pants were made with that stuff they use in the arctic.

Um, I posted in the Valentines thing....now I kinda wish I had not. *sigh* I'm think I rambled a bit....hmm maybe alot. I think that was the longest post I've done in awhile. I may go into hiding....maybe. So if I suddenly disappear you know why.

I took a peek over a Bartuc's thread. Looks interesting. I think I'm not going to join though. I have suggested this site to friends but not all of them have time with school/work. But it would be nice if it helped the site though.

That's because the site's not turning much of a profit lately so they're trying to find ways to turn a profit lol
Which is basically why we're getting recolored commons as event commons now, instead of new commons :3
Maybe it'll change after they get feedback on it all?

They are :3
But they save money on pixel artists because they don't have to pay for new items, just recolors of old items, which I think is much easier than creating new items and lots of colors for them, not to mention less time consuming -- so it would cost less in "labor time" so to speak :3
At least that's my guess as to why they're doing it~
They started doing it around the time Inso posted the message about the site's financial status :3
So either a big coincidence, or it's a way to save money :P
Kind of like why we have events the way they are now -- because they would have to pay for site layouts, coding, event currency, coding for that, etc. :3
Now it's simplified and not so complicated - ergo, less money spent on it :3

At least, that's my understanding, anyways :3

Though what I don't understand, and that could just be because I'm not a computer whiz who does coding and such, but wouldn't it be easier, instead of hiring someone to make new coding for the events, reuse the old coding and just switch out images?
or would that be harder?
That thought just popped into my head while I was thinking about the old events and why they changed it lol

@Emma- Yeah, exactly. I don't see how this will really change the search engines but then again I really don't know. I think I'll go try searching things.

I don't know. I think they care more about us then pretty much any other site. But it would have been nice to have a note about the change.
I guess we will see how it effects the site during the event. But yeah if it slows down things I can see people becoming aggrovated and not really joining in as much.

I agree. And shoot I've been in a thread before where the first page doesn't even match what is going on in that thread. The thread has grown and changed over time. And I don't think having everything pretty would make people join. I mean some people might like the fact that things are pretty but others would just think "man I don't want to deal with making my threads look like that"
And I've always prefered threads that don't have a huge dump of info and just get down to what needs to be said. (fan of bullet points lol)

I think the thing about the commons is important too. I would hate to find the commons become full price or anything.

Yep, I think it should have been an easy matter for a note.

Well when it happened I had been more active then awhile. I had a break from school and I came on here and posted a lot. But that is over and shouldn't happen again. And I did leave for about a week.

Well, I wasn't active in that forum. That was the only one I had ever gotten very far into it. So I didn't feel like I should do anything. And when I pmed the other person who I was RPing with about it I found that they just decided to leave the site as the RP forum here was too slow for them.

I'm sure you'll get it to go smoothly.

Sometimes they end up being good conversations and sometimes not so much but I guess ya get what ya get.

I'm the same way. Though for me it is usually I'm playing the games or getting distracted by tv.

I hope it works too.

@Silver- I know, the weather has been crazy lately.
I read your post and I kind of like your idea with the games, though I doubt they'd do it.
Aw, don't go into hiding. I think it was fine. We should be able to say whatever.

I don't think I'll join it either. Really since I don't know anyone really outside of this site. And anyone else I could bring to this site I know would not stay.

----------

And I just read that the AAs are the ones who do the recolorings and they don't make any money from doing them. So they don't have to pay coders to make them.

@ Emma ah, the whole thing gets confusing to be honest.

@ Lith-chan :glomp: hmm, might not go in hiding as much as go invisible? Makes stalking easier *nod nod* and yeah I highly doubt my ideas will go anywhere as well. Ah well. What do I know anyways, hmm?

ah you know a lot Silver-chan
don't put yourself down

ugh... I guess I should go play the games
I have a long way to go. Need 15k on this account and 50k on the event mule
and I really should go update
maybe I'll do that now while everyone is napping.

----------

ok the main invo is updated
I still need to update the charity invo.

I have been thinking a lot about maybe selling (or seeing if we could) the hooch. I don't know.
On one hand I would love to keep such a nice prize.
But on the other hand it will be used in the lotto and it seems like a waste. We will have the fan in there and I think that is a great prize. But if we tried selling it I know we could get at least 50k out of it. We could get the rest of the gold for the task game. Or we could get loads of smaller CIs and stuff to give out. And then it would be more prizes for more people.

I just don't know.
What do you think?

Ah, hmm, I'll try?

If you can find a buyer that would be will to do 50k pure or 30k pure plus 30k plus in CI's (no EI's) that would be a great help. The O. Fan as the biggest prize I think is a great draw.

shoot if I could find that 30 30 deal that would be beyond great

I think I'll go pm everyone and see what they think, and then find out from a mod or someone if that is even possible

Then why not try? It can't hurt. You could say that is what you are looking for. Let it run for a bit? But have a time limit of some sort? That way all those that have been looking can see it? Also with school having started up it gives peoples a chance to see it. Its kinda no fun trying to hop on between classes. I would know.

Our event runs 7 days? Right? Well I was thinking on the page prize thing that have money prizes kinda random. Like page 247 post 8 wins a gold. And for the item prizes have it go up to page 2000 just to be on the safe side? Will we have 25 posts per page or 15?

Yep, and I will also have an opition of not selling too if I don't get what I want.
I wonder if there are any CIs I shouldn't take?
Yeah, I wouldn't want to run it more then a month but that should give everyone plenty of time.

Yep, it will be seven days. I like the idea of random gold prizes.
I think you would be ok with 1000 pages because of the change to 25 posts per page.
I really doubt we get anything more then that.
