You probably won't need many. Welcome post, rules, maybe one for what your giving out, maybe a post to put who you donated to (that way we don't all give to one person over and over) and since three people are giving we might all have a post to who we gave to, and one for the lotto.

@Silver- Oh for sure. Which worries me a bit. My step-dad is really picky about food. I've cooked before for the family and he is the reason I always stop. I cook chicken and he complains about it. I cook fish, he complains. It also means we'll be eating a lot less hunks of red meat. I can't stand to eat big hunks of meat and ever really eat chicken, fish, and some ground beef.

Chicken and fish are healthier than chunks of red meat though.

And I agree with all of that. I definitely want to keep track. I think we should keep track separately too. Like I will have my donation track list on my post..and then you on yours..and Clair's on hers. What do you think?

So much of the best writing is largely about defamiliarization. Thus, with that in mind, I am down to a few theme ideas now and want to know what you lot think. (The idea here being to give folks as much leeway with the topic in question as possible since themes are often a tad restrictive and the writing contests on Mene tend to be more or less ignored for that reason...among others). Here's the one I'm leaning most heavily toward at the moment.

1. The New World - This isn't necessarily referring to the discovery of America, a brand new island nation, or even a world we've necessarily heard of (though it can be, as I do love me some historical fiction). It needs only be aabout the discovery of some new and different place, that place and its culture, inhabitants, etc. being entirely up to the writer. The goal, to create the most rich and interesting new environment/interactions between the discovering person or persons and those discovered (if any).

Also, in conjunction with this would be a poetry option based loosely on the concept of 'Martian Poetry,' a minor British poetry movement from a while back that focused on describing an object in a new and different way, as though the writer were just seeing it for the first time and needed to explain it. For example, here is an excerpt from one of Craig Raine's poems detailing an old time phone.

In homes, a haunted apparatus sleeps,
that snores when you pick it up.

If the ghost cries, they carry it
to their lips and soothe it to sleep

with sounds. And yet, they wake it up
deliberately, by tickling with a finger.

Cool, I would hate to give one person all the big items since one person will post the most and be the nicest. That's a good idea. That way we won't be spending all our time pming the person with the donations post. Should the be called Name's Donations or just Name's Post?
