I enjoy shaping and developing characters, training in specialisations, prestige classes etc. Building up a blank slate into the character I envision way back at the start of the game when I choose their appearance. But once you reach the point where you're only developing for the sake of developing, grinding for the sake of unlocking larger grinds, I generally lose interest. A lot of JRPGs fall into this category at some point, although often it's in the form of post-game content or new game+ content so I can still find a game to enjoy.
I haven't been able to get any wifi for my DS here so I'm unable to access the DQVC, which is annoying because having finished the main game now it would be nice to have access to all the specials and work in filling out my wardrobe and alchemicon. I'm still on the hunt for metal king slimes so I can train my characters up quicker, but I've just gotten a level 68 treasure map so there's a good chance I'll find some in there. My main character is now a level 70 gladiator and with double up and raising his tension to 100 I can one hit kill a lot of the current grotto bosses.
I'd like to get my hands on some legacy maps soon, although I haven't played prior Dragon Quest's and won't recognise the bosses from them, they do provide the hardest challenges in the game. They can even level up to 99 which I suppose is technically the end of the game if you can beat them.

Wow you are so lucky :( I oinly wished I had my game. I'm hoping the cartridge pops up again somewhere. this is so sad. So I have been playing less active games that I really have not played so much in the past. I can only hope it turns up soon. I didn't really get that far into the game :( If only I could have at least beaten it first....
Im really thinking seriously about buying another copy of the game, but my funds suggest otherwise, especially since I'm not getting any frigging hours at work this week. I'm going to apply for some other jobs this week because I can't do all of this. I want to support my gaming habbit, but unless hours pick up or I'm able to find another source of income, I will have to recycle the games I have... good thing I'm a pack rat when it comes to my games.

I just got this game and I absolutely love it, it's bursting with hundred and hundreds of colorful creatures and scenery, although I have to agree with Kole Locke, that the graphics aren't quite as good as it's predesessor Dragon Quest VIII. But, hey, it's the Nintendo DS, what can you expect? I was more than just a bit disappointed when I did hear that they were going to put it on the Nintendo DS reather thena the Ninetendo Wii itself; but I believe that the game has really climbed to the top. I noticed at the mall not too far from me that thhey had possters posted all over the place that changed with every angle that you stand from. They are really quite cool as they have one for if you chose to be male or one for if you chose to be female. A monk, warrior, mage, are the main outfits they show. I feel sorry for you Kole for losing your small nintendo ds cartridge whereas they are very difficult to locate once you misplace them. I would do a serious serach of your car and tear your room to pieces to find the game lol, I have actually managed to play forty hours of the game already and I have only had the game for just one simple week lol. I haven't had to work too much so I have had time and time to play and truly enjoy my new game. I can't wait to unlock all the secrets.

40 hours in a week sounds like when I first got the game, but then it was a day before I was leaving on holiday. It's a shame I didn't get here sooner because then I could have attended the DQIX event at Best Buy and received the special map they were giving away.
I might have to try turning tag mode on and walking around with it in my pocket to see if I can get any hits, I think you need 30 visitors to unlock everything in the inn and hopefully one of them will give me a high level treasure map as well.

I finally found a grotto with Metal King Slimes, and on my first encounter I managed to kill all three before any of them fled. My main character acquired over 110,000 experience from that single fight, and the rest of the party received over 80,000 each too. Now I can finally speed my characters through the various classes and build up their passive bonuses, perhaps get in a few revocations too. Then I can start hitting the end game/legacy bosses that actually level up and get stronger as you do.

That's cool, because I'm a level up freak, if I don't find my game soon I may just break down and buy another copy... oh well, what am I going to do? I want to play this game so badly.

Maybe you could borrow a handheld metal detector and sweep it over your car seats and stuff...
I suppose you could always sell it if you buy another copy and then find your original one later.

Well, something tells me I may not find it. I have been playing Disgaea and drowning my sorrows there. I really don't know anyone that has a metal detector, and plus I have a lot of spare change that has fallen between the seats of my car and then there are metal bars that hold the seat in place so I'm really not sure that would work, it was a good idea though. Oh well, I may buy another copy if my hours pick back up and of course I will have to start from the beginning, at least now I know all the good places to go level up and it won't take me too long. Just having to sit through the long introductions at the beginning. I really wished there was a way to get the Nintendo DS to transfer on a television screen, I really think that would be so frigging awesome, until I decide to break down and buy one of those bigger screen Nintendo DSIs, I guess I will have to settle for that,...lol
By the way I just noticed your gold went down below one? Did you go on a shopping spree on here or something? It takes forever to earn gold on this site especially now since they have lowered the gold cap from five hundred gold to two hundred and fifty gold instead. It kind of sucks but the did increase the amount of gold you can get from posting on here from a max of twenty gold to a max of thirty gold which is pretty cool.

Yeah, I had 1300.86g and I bought this sword for 1300g. But my outfit is complete.
I think if you blew the DS screen up to TV size it might look ugly since it would be stretched out so much. I'd definitely like an XL but with the 3DS coming out next year there's no way I'll be spending any money on one now. I still haven't connected to DQVC at all since coming here, but I've noticed a lot of places nearby that advertise free wifi so maybe I can jack in through one of those.

I've seen that sword, but I think there are a couple nicer ones in the older donation items that I may get when I finally decide and break down to spend the hoard of gold I have been hoarding away for a day I feel bad and just want to go shopping. I have connected to the DQVC a few times and you aren't missing too much really. 3DS? Tell me a bit about it, as far as getting free wi-fi, you should go to mcdonalds and try it there, I'm pretty sure every McDonalds has free wi-fi.

3DS is the successor to the DS, it's due out in the first half of next year. It is, as the name implies, in 3D. But you don't need special glasses or anything. It seems about as powerful as the Wii and there's a whole bunch of developer support already. I know it's launching with a new Kid Icarus, and Konami are making a MGS for it. I'm sure if you google it there will be a bunch of information.
As for swords, I did trawl through a bunch of event items but I didn't find a sword that suited my outfit any better than this one. I'm still keeping my eye out for one though.
There are other things to get from the DQVC; there are also downloaded quests (some of which extend the story a little) and special guests at the inn, which I understand are cameos from previous DQ games, that give you a special item.

I will have to look into it before too long. I saw a trailer for the new Kid Icarus game and it looks kind of cool, I remember playing the original Kid Icarus game for the Nintendo and it was long and difficult like so many other Nintendo games that were long and arduous and luckily most have a good fun factor to them. As powerful as the Wii, I guess we will see lol. Well I kind of liked that new Sword of Justice that just recently came out in the donation itmes. By the way are you on Gaia as well?
Damn I really want to find my game so bad. I guess I need to get some more hours at work so I can buy a new cartridge. I have been playing Disgage II lately, yesterday I worked fourteen hours but that was the only day this week I worked so I got to conserve money, because if the hours keep up being shitty I may have to save money from months when things were good so i can continue to make ends meet. Times are still not all that good. I'm hoping I get more hours this week, even if it is just four or five. I applied at a Chilis restuarant here in town and hoping that they call me up and tell me to come in. I really would like to get a minimum of twenty hours of work a week.

14 hours a day doesn't sound particularly healthy, but I understand that sometimes it's the only option when you're trying to get by. I hope one of your other applications works out for you. I did check the sword of justice, I quite liked it but the problem is it's colour scheme, the blue really doesn't match well with the rest of my outfit. I'm not on Gaia, Menewsha is my first avatar community.
And yes, every game back in the NES days was hard. Apparently Kid Icarus was different though, it started out brutally difficult and got slightly easier as you got further through. Still, that was a scrolling 2D game and the new one seems more like the 3D Zelda games, so it isn't going to be much use comparing them.

I really love this game, it is one of the best games hands down for the Nintendo DS yet, with so many different things you can do in this game, who couldn't like this game!

No, it wasn't a very healthy day. The last couple of hours I was nodding off on my feet. I had a mountain pile of dishes from two different banquets, luckily my friend who lives with me clocked in for an hour and a half to help me and I got done right at three am that morning. I'm going to wait another week and then I'm going to follow up on that application I put in. The other sword I saw was the dragon one but I don't think it would fit the color scheme you have going on with your avatar. I'm on gaia-- It's just way too big for me, but I do go on and buy and sell -- as my account is worth almost over a hundred million gold with all the old donation items and pure gold it has.
Yes there will be no comparison from the old to the new version of Kid Icarus-- it looks quite good and I look forward to it. Hopefully it will come out on the Wii itself. So far no announcement for Dragon Quest X nor part VI which is weird. Part IV and V came out relatively not too far chronologically from each other. Part VI is already out in Japan I believe-- I wonder why it's taking so long to come stateside. Oh well.
@Blueberry Flavored Syrup ~ Yes, I know... lol :(

I never, got that far :(, I lost my cartridge and never got to finish the game when I beat the over loving lizard and beat the Equinox horse creature. I did level up quite a bit. I had eight characters created. It's depressing for me to think about this game :( I had my Celestrian leveled at level forty one warrior thirty minstrel, level fifteen thief and level twenty monk. So I had done some serious leveling up so my characters could utilize the benefits from other classes, especially the pysching up skill that you get from the monk class like in Dragon Quest VIII you could do automatically without leveling up to get that skill.

I hope part ten in this series really turns out to be really good, this game is truly a lot of fun and there is so much to do it in. I wished they would bring Dragon Quest Victory over Stateside, that would be so cool.

Yes, that I agree with you whole heartidly, I just watched the trailer on youtube and it was such an eye candy for me as I got to see all of my favorite past Dragon Quest Heros in Akira animated form. It was so frigging awesome. I couldn't get enough of it. Now I just need to play it. I think it is funny how they made the Hero of Dragon Quest V's kids the main heros it seems which I heard his given name was Able which was weird because they never ever name a Dragon Quest Character which is cool in some regards but annoying in others;
I hope part Six comes out really soon.
