~Coming Back~
A Harry Potter/Severus Snape Role-play

Harry Potter, former Boy-Who-Lived, Chosen One, Vanquisher of Voldemort, and every other name the press had come up with for him, found himself looking at something he did not expect to see again so soon in life--Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the castle in which he had spent just about seven years of his life.

After destroying Tom Riddle at seventeen years of age, Harry finished his schooling and went off to play Quidditch professionally. However, in the most recent season, he fell and broke his left arm. Although the arm was still usable, it never quite healed, so Quidditch wasn't much of an option anymore.

Harry--although he did put much more effort into his schooling nearer the end and performed fairly well overall--only excelled in two areas: Quidditch and Defense Against the Dark Arts. So, naturally, after applying for a teaching position, he was hired right away by his old Head of House, Headmistress Minerva McGonagall. Headmistress McGonagall was still having trouble finding a decent DADA teacher in any case; the previous professor, Archer Washburn, was actually a surprisingly competent Auror filling in until she could find someone to permanently teach the course. She had asked Harry to come in early August in order to set up his quarters and classroom, as well as go over lesson plans and other such requirements, but his arm had been giving him trouble and instead McGonagall met him at his flat to go over lesson plans and fixed up his room for him; he could change it later.

Looking up at Hogwarts, which was as glorious as he remembered despite the renovations done after the destruction from the battle six years earlier, Harry hoped he had made the right decision in coming back. He would miss his friends terribly, and Hogwarts did not offer many romantic prospects; however, he refused to just sit around all day at his flat in London, and he couldn't deny that although many terrible things happened there, a tiny part of him had missed this castle, and certain people currently residing in it.

Taking a deep breath, he walked through the main doors and into the Great Hall, where the Welcoming Feast was just beginning.

All of the teachers were beggining to sit and soon Dumbledore would begin to speak after a few moments when all teachers were seated. Harry's opened seat was near Severous Snape whom used to always apply for the dark arts spot but never could really get it, so he stayed in the potions area.

Later news was said and heard that Mcgonagall taken over with being headmistress as Dumbledore asked when he was still alive at the time before the whole battle like war had began. All the other teachers were still there waiting to start the opening ceremony for the new first years and couldn't wait to see where each of them were placed.

Snape watched as Potter walked through the doors and down the asile and wondered what he was doing here since he already had left Hogwarts and was off on his own and yet now here he was back in the castle but for what reason. Snape looked to where Mcgonagall was sitting and noticed she caught his eye knowing Snape had seen Harry and she smiled at Snape then faced the the new teacher whom had taken over her spot and began talking about something that seemed to have involved Snape.

Snape was tired of protecting Potter for anymore reasons that Dumbledore had 'This time if anything happens, I won't be there to help out Potter' he thought to himself. He was always running into Potter when Potter was out and about with his friends Hermione and Ron whom also became an item. Ginny went off with Malfoy later on, tired of waiting for Harry to notice her.

Harry walked into the Hall, feeling Snape's eyes on him as he strode to the table. "Why the heck is he looking at me?" he wondered to himself. It felt like his first day at Hogwarts when Snape's eyes were on him and his scar pained him--of course, that was because of Quirrell, but he hadn't known at the time. Today, though, there was more curiosity than malice in Snape's stare. He saw Snape turn and followed his gaze to the Headmistress--"Oh, wait, I'm supposed to call her Minerva," Harry remembered--who Harry could see looked worn out but happy. She motioned with her head that Harry should take the open seat near Snape.

"Seriously, McGonagall?" Harry thought. Why in the world would she place him near Snape, of all people? Then again, Snape didn't know he, Harry, was going to be there today and probably just wanted to have his privacy or something by leaving an empty seat between him and everyone else. That man probably had no friends, considering how bitter and sarcastic he was always acting. He wasn't much to look at, either, with his hooked nose and greasy hair, although Harry could get lost in his eyes--"I did not just think about how amazing his eyes are!" Harry thought to himself, forcing himself to give up the train of thought. Thinking about Snape's eyes was probably a sign of insanity. Really, what sane person would?

Harry sighed and sat down next to the man in question.

(I'm having fun reading this fanfiction lol)

'He looks more grown up than he did when he left the final year' Snape thought to himself and looked down to the potions book on the table about the time Potter had chosen to come up and sit down next to him. If he had to call him by his first name then we would probally rather never to speak for the rest of the year instead. "What are you doing here, Potter?" Snape questioned to a low whisper but was soon ignored with the fact that a tapping on the glass could be heard and the new headmistress stood in front of the entire audience of magical students.

"Good evening everyone and welcome back to Hogwarts for another exciting year of learning, I am Headmistress Mcgonagall" Minerva spoke up and everyone became silent as the first years entered the room in a huddle like pack. "First we will seat the new students and gradually welcome them all to each their individual tables." She added. The stool and the hat sat in front of everyone including the teachers.

"The first to come up here is Ameila Tanalia" a girl with short brown hair, glasses, and freckles sat upon the stool with confidence. Though there was something behind her smile that not many would see very well. "Ah, intresting, quite, a quiet life and always something bad happening, not the best I would dare to say. Very proud with your pride and knowledge, new things have yet to come and yet you know you'll suceed no matter what....Slytherin!" the hat shouted and she jumped up smiling going to her seat.

After seating all the students which took almost a complete hour itself the head mistress stood behind the podium and spoke "We have two new teachers this year, former student Luna Lovegood has gladly taken my spot in teaching Transfiguration. And of course the dark arts class will be taken over by Harry Potter another highly exceeded wizard that went to school and graduated from here. Please do not give them any trouble if you can try to behave. We do not tolerate bullying or using forbidden spells. Not only that to be said but Mr. Filch has asked us to keep the students well informed not to go into any unknown areas without a teacher and permission. We wish not for any reason to bring anything bad to this school. You may now eat and enjoy your meal until we release you." She spoke and went to take her seat while sitting down and smiled at Harry and Luna whom both had grown since the last time she saw them.

(Hah, nice xD Well if you need recs after this one, I've read a lot of Snarry)

Harry had unfortunately never been particularly interested in watching Sortings. He tried to peek at whatever Snape was reading, but the man's hair blocked out all viewing paths. Then he thought about the plausibility of leaving a bottle of shampoo on Snape's desk with a secret admirer note attached.

Well, on second thought, maybe not if he wanted to live to see next year.

Harry smirked at the man sitting next to him. "That's what I'm doing here, Snape," he said.
Minerva's speech, though it was concise and informative, had the unfortunate effect of reminding him of Dumbledore's quirky speeches. He wondered if anyone else in the Hall was thinking the same thing. The Seventh-years would have been First-years the last year Dumbledore was Headmaster...

Thinking about Dumbledore just made Harry remember all the other people who died in the war. Fred, Remus, Tonks... he frowned, wondering how George was doing these days. He hadn't talked to him in months, despite being friends with his younger brother, Ron and sister Ginny. Then again, thinking of Ginny made Harry think of Malfoy. He might not understand that romance, but at least he didn't have to explain to Ginny just why he wasn't interested. Females just didn't excite him much... but hey, why would Harry Potter ever be normal?

(so sorry looking something up)(just to warn you if I don't type for awhile or automatically get off-it's about to storm over here)

Snape sighed inside his own mind wondering 'what did I do to deserve this' adding 'Dumbledore was bad enough to keep me at this position but now I'll never live it down and Minerva just wants to make sure of that as Dumbledore wished' he kept his eyes on his potions book without even looking up. He could hear Potter smiling and wondered why he chose to come to Hogwarts, you'd figure he wanted to get out of it.

Several of the students and non-students had chatted and ate, some didn't talk and some didn't eat, some didn't do anything but sit there. 'At least when Potter first arrived there was more enthusiatic students' he thought and wondered if he complimented Potter with that last thought. 'Maybe we should create another student like that' he continued to think but sort of shook it away. There was no need to create anymore terror and this time he had more control over his life since the dark lord had been destroyed.

"Alright, it's been well over an hour. Time to send the students on to their rooms and classes the next day" the headmistress spoke standing up going to the podium. "May I have your attention please" she spoke rather loudly and the talkking had died down. "Thank you, now that meal time is over with, we are going to send you off to your house common rooms and your escorts for first years. Please don't push or rush out and have a wonderful evening" She watched the teachers leave a little after the students and walked over to Harry and Snape.

"Now, I know how you two hated eachother in the past. But I will remind you this is a school and we are here to teach not get revenge on other teachers. So I want you two to behave this year." She spoke adding "And it's wonderful to see you all grown up Harry." She smiled and then walked away as Harry was hugged from behind "Harry it's so good to see you. You haven't changed one bit...except you look older than we last saw you." Luna spoke smiling. She had the same innocent face just a bit taller and more mature looking for her age now.

"You look great too, Luna!" Harry responded. He noticed Snape lingering around, but had no idea what his deal was and just left him alone. "How've you been?"

"I've been lovely," Luna said, only somewhat dreamily. Harry could tell she had matured.
"Have you heard that the crumple-horned snorkacks are finally extinct?" Well, maybe not as much as he'd thought.
"No, Luna, I wasn't aware of that," Harry said, smiling at her unique personality. "Oh, do you know where my room is?"
"Sorry, Harry, I have no idea, as I'm in the Ravenclaw wing near Professor Flitwick."
"Ah, well, I'll see you around then!" he said.
"Bye, Harry!" she responded.

Harry sighed and turned to Snape, the only other person standing near the doors of the Great Hall at this time; he wished it were any other person--besides Filch, Death Eaters, or Umbridge, of course. "Professor Snape, would you, um, happen to know where my rooms are located? Minerva must have forgotten to mention it to me..." he inquired.

((I'm seriously going to fall asleep at my computer, so I'm gonna head off for now. I hope the above sounded decent, as I'm not sure how well I strung sentences together, haha. xD))

(Don't worry about it and I have 20 mins before I have to stop typing)

Snape looked at him just about the time he was beggining to leave and yet he still had his book opened just to a different page. 'This will never end, he sounds just like a student at that' Snape thought to himself "If I didn't know you were coming then how would I know where your room would be" even though he did know and Minerva had heard that. "Severous, do me a favor and show Po...Harry to his room now will you. Here it is" she spoke and went to greet some troublemakers "You are not allowed to do that" she scolded.

He looked back at Harry and then the paper and sighed. He knew if he didn't do it and just handed Harry the paper, she would never let him be in peace which is all he wanted right now. "Come Potter" he still used his last name but didn't feel the need to show Potter respect after everything that had happened all those years of teaching him.

((Ah, mkay (: ...and, um, would you mind terribly spelling his first name "Severus" not "Severous"? xP))

Harry supposed it made sense; why would Snape know? Then again, Minerva was standing, not too far away, busy with miscreants. He waited as she told Snape to take him to his room; although he loved the castle like a home, the renovations had changed the layout of some of the parts of the castle. So, he could possibly end up slightly lost, if the path to his quarters was in an unfamiliar place. In any event, he had no idea where they were. Anyway, wasn't Snape Deputy Headmaster now? He should really be informed of the goings-on in the school. Well, maybe Minerva wanted it to be a surprise. Taking in all the muttering as he Had been introduced as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, it certainly was.

Harry was snapped out of his contemplations when Snape said, rudely "Come, Potter," in a tone of voice that made Harry feel as if he was an annoying First-year, again. He frowned. If Snape had a parchment with the exact location of Harry's quarters, could he just show it to Harry? "It seems," he thought to himself, "as if Snape relishes the idea of leading me there just as much as I want him to do so. Great." Then, Harry realized he didn't like Snape calling him Potter--"Professor Snape, please call me Harry," he told the man, following him to his quarters.

(sorry it's outta habit I think)

"Here is your room Potter. Not that far, don't get lost" he said dryly. He looked at Potter and then added "I only say names to those I respect, you are not on that list Potter" and then he walked away 'Professor? And he just told me to call him his first name. No sense of manners as usual' with that thought he turned the corner and several kids were walking by around that time which in any case the kids edged away from him.

He saw some children playing with magic and made the magic dissapear and continued on walking. This was like any other year just less exciting, 'without Potter being a student, there should be more relaxing time than to chase after him at all hours of the night' "Ah, Severus, did you see Harry to his quarters?" Minerva asked coming over to him. "I did and now if you'll excuse me, I must prepare for tomorrow's lessons in potions headmistress" "Of course, thank you for showing Harry his room" 'I had no choice since 'you' were the one who asked me' he thought silently to himself while she went yelling at some more of the first years.

((Ah. I don't mean to be nasty about it, just... >.<
Oh, and another thing. I used some bad language in this post because that's how I see Harry thinking/acting. If you don't like it, I won't do it again. Just thought I'd mention it.))

Harry was about to cordially thank Snape for showing him to his quarters when the man in question told him he had no respect for him. "No respect! He taught me for seven years and we worked together in the war against Voldemort!" Harry was outraged. He was happy Snape walked away because he would not be responsible for what he said if the man were standing near him. Just when Harry had thought he might miss the man, Snape had to be a total bastard. "Greasy git," he muttered, deciding on a password for his door, which was guarded by a portrait of a kindly-looking wizard who introduced himself as Arthurius Temestus. He decided, in a fit of childish angst--really, he'd thought he was over that period of his life but Snape seemed to bring out the feelings in him--to set the password as "Snape is a wanker." Hey, he could insult Snape every time he wanted to enter his rooms.

He walked into the room, seeing a separate living room, bathroom, and bedroom. There was a small dining area at one end of the living room. "Ah, professors do not always have to eat with students in the Great Hall," he remembered. Most teachers made an attempt to eat with the children to enforce proper manners and being on time to meals, but it was not a requirement.

Harry was pleased with his rooms. Everything was tastefully decorated--by Minerva, he presumed--in shades of blue. He found his belongings all in trunks in the bedroom, waiting for him to put them away. So, he spent the next half hour organizing all his belongings. Afterwards, he decided to firecall Ron and Hermione, as he knew he would be extremely busy with schoolwork after classes officially began.

He went over to the fire, calling them. "Harry, is that you?" he heard in Ron's voice. Harry soon saw Ron's head. By now, he was fairly used to firecalling and it wasn't like in his fifth year with Sirius. "Hey, Ron!" Harry said, happy to see his friend. "Hey, Harry! How was your first day back at Hogwarts?"
"Well, it wasn't so bad. Everyone was pretty nice...except some people, who are as snide as always--"
"Ah, you mean Snape. Still a greasy git, then," Ron interjected.
"Yeah, he is that. Gah, he makes me so angry! Anyway, all the students look so small, but some of them seem so bored by all of this. I hope I can stir up some interest!"
"I'm sure you'll do wonderfully, Harry," Harry heard Ron's girlfriend and his other best friend, Hermione say. Ron and Hermione lived together in a small house near the Ministry of Magic, where they worked. After the war, Kingsley Shacklebolt became the Minister of Magic and the Ministry became much better and less corrupt, so the two liked their jobs.
"Thanks, 'Mione!" Harry smiled. Although she was still a bit bossy and overachieving, she usually knew what to say.
They talked a bit longer, until Harry's arm started to hurt a bit and he realized he should probably go to sleep so that he would not be a walking zombie the next day. He said goodbye to the two, and they promised to talk again soon.

As he lay in bed and stared at the ceiling, he remembered what Snape had said about his lack of respect for Harry. This bothered Harry more than it probably should have, and he wanted to figure out why. As he thought, though, he drifted off and ended up falling asleep.

(I'm fine with anything that happens, I'm gonna be 20 in november anyways)

After night took over the castle and everyone was in their dorm rooms, Snape had a quick bite to eat and then took his wand with him as he patrolled the halls at night to see which student or students were going to get house points taken away from him. He heard some laughing that quickly died down and glanced around the corner he noticed a group of troublemakers from Slytherin were out late in their usual school attire which meant they had planned to meet and there were four of them.

One seemed to be supposed to look out for the rest as the other three were talking. They had something that they were messing with in the courtyard of the school 'What are they up to?' Snape wondered in thought seeing the kids and then something lit up 'They're really going to set off a weasly product? How naive of them and at this hour' Snape walked over to the kids and took the weasely product as it then exploded into a black puff of smoke that turned to ink. All the kids stood in fear and then Snape shouted at them "50 points from Slytherin each and detention for 2 weeks! Get to bed!" he yelled.

He shook his head and pulled out his wand saying a spell to clean up the mess. 'These kids were worse than 6 years ago when Potter was originally a student here.' Snape was surprised at the thought and after it came close to midnight he went back to under the dungeon where a room was located and got ready for bed and slept. The next day came and he was up early getting more things ready for his classes and writing out detentions to those four who deserved it.

((Alright, just making sure as I know people, no matter what age, are sometimes against certain things, y'know? I'm glad you're not like that (: ))

The next day, Harry woke up surprisingly early. He took his time getting prepared for the day, and headed out to the Great Hall to have breakfast. Since he woke up so early, not that many people were out and about yet, so the halls were fairly empty. "At least it's quiet," Harry thought, "it's pretty peaceful this way." He walked on until he got to the doors to the Great Hall and pushed them open.

In the Great Hall, there were about fifteen people, which was a very small amount. There were three young Gryffindors, an older-looking Slytherin, five Ravenclaws with texts in front of them, four Hufflepuffs chatting amicably and looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, as if being up at six thirty AM was just a happy, normal occurrence. There were also two teachers sitting at the Head table, Luna and Professor Flitwick. They were sitting to each other, having a nice, light conversation. Just then, Luna saw Harry and waved him over. He took a seat on her right; Flitwick was to her left.

"Good morning, Harry!" Luna said, with Flitwick echoing a similar greeting.
"Morning Luna, Professor Flitwick!" Harry responded amicably.
"Call me Filius, Harry. We're colleagues now, remember," Flitw...er, Filius --that would take a little time to get used to on Harry's part--told him.
"Well alright," Harry agreed to do so.
"Did you find your quarters alright, Harry?" Luna asked, remembering that she had no idea where they were.
"Yeah, Professor Snape helped me," Harry drooped a little, remembering that although Filius had given him permission to use his first name, Snape hadn't even started using Harry's first name. Great.

"What's wrong, Harry?" Luna asked, noticing the slight drop in mood.
"Nothing, just Snape being Snape, you know," Harry answered.
Luna nodded, understanding, and Filius said, "You know, Harry, beneath all his layers, Severus isn't actually as bad as he may seem. He does not trust many people, but I should think that those he does would have a much better view at the man he really is."
Harry thought about Filius's words. "He could be right..." he thought, deciding to think on it later.

"Anyway," Filius said, "are you two ready for your first classes?"
"I'm a little nervous," Luna said. "What if my students don't give me respect?"
"Well, Luna, you have to earn their respect. Don't act as if they can do whatever they'd like, but show that you know what you are talking about and that it is in their best interest to pay attention and learn, and make it interesting, and you will most probably earn their respect," Filius answered.

Harry was half-listening at this point. Things that had been said were flitting through his mind... "You have to earn respect"...."He does not trust many people"..."You are not on that list, Potter"... He suddenly had the intense desire to get Snape to respect him. He didn't know what it meant, except that it was a challenge and he would get the man to call him by his name.

(WOOOOW I need to learn to write alot more & makes two of us. All I ask is never to steal my Mountain Dew and we'll be fine...or Dr. Pepper-otherwise theres issues XD lol)

Snape had gotten up and got dressed while taking an advanced potions book with her to the great hall and sit there until all the students showed up and ate. He found his seat next to Potter and sat down opening his book to the last page he left off before last night's round a bouts and the incident that occurred.

It was an early but beautiful morning as the room itself was bright with a rising sun but not too bright. Minerva had yet to arrive which meant she was busy or she was sleeping in still as usual and that's when, if she was late they wouldn't start the morning greeting.

'Wonder why Potter is up so early for once, he was always late to his classes before in the past whenever he arrived here at the school. What was he thinking all those times when he woke up and it was time to get up' apparently Snape was half asleep which didn't help much when Filius was saying "Good morning Severus" and Luna "Yes good morning" she smiled.

He looked over to them and nodded turning back to his book and thought 'Good morning? what is so good about the morning?' he wondered sleeplessly to himself and wondered what was the point of having a book except to make it look like he was doing something. Minerva walked in and took her seat a few minutes later. "Morning Potter" Snape said not looking over, he wasn't the morning person, that's for sure.

"Oh, and speak of the devil," Harry thought. He found himself looking over at the man, sweeping his eyes over him. Good thing the man was not looking his way at all, since Harry somehow couldn't stop looking at him. He looked the same as always, so Harry didn't understand it at all. He pulled his eyes away, answering "good morning" to the man in question, and turned back to Luna and Filius, who were talking again. "Oh, Harry," Luna said, "did you hear Neville recently discovered a new species of plant? He's being lauded for it."
"No, how recently?" he asked.
"Yesterday," she answered, smiling dreamily, "he sent me a letter."

If he, Harry, didn't know better, he'd say Luna had a bit of a crush on Neville Longbottom. He'd proven himself in Herbology but also DADA when he helped Harry, Ron, and Hermione destroy Voldemort. It made him a much more confident person, and Harry was glad. They corresponded occasionally.

Harry glanced at the Potions Master, looking at a book. "Reading, of course, what else is new," he thought to himself, but after a few surreptitious glances, he realized that the man wasn't really reading, but staring at the book. Something about that greatly amused Harry, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

Food started being served at six forty-five, so Harry was only marginally surprised when he stopped thinking about Snape and found a plate in front of him and food around the tables.
Everyone else (though there weren't many more people there, since breakfast ended at seven thirty AM and one could come at any time in between) took food but refrained from eating, looking at Minerva for some reason. Harry just followed suit.

(Well dialogue between us means less lengthy posts. And, understandable. I'll keep that in mind, hahaha.)

(ok and I also have to say that I won't be on much until we fix my computer cuz it crashed on me one day)

'Why is he constantly staring' Snape thought to himself and wondered what Potter was up to this time. Usually Potter had always gotten himself into some sort of trouble even on his first day when he attended Hogwarts for the first time. "Is there something wrong Potter" Snape asked adding "It's rude to stare" apparently even though Snape was staring at his book, he still knew that something was up. And he didn't really like to be stared at by someone he thought had grown since the last time he saw him...'No wait, can't think about that' Snape passed the thought aside and waited for the lame excuse from Potter this time.

(sorry it's been a bit since I last typed and am low on inspiration)

((Ah that's fine. Writers' block and computer crashes happen, lol.))

"Uh--I--er..." Harry stammered, feeling like an idiot and trying not to blush. What would he say to his ex-professor? Not something stupid, like admitting that Snape intrigued him. Anyway, Snape would call him an idiot or a dunderhead or something for that illiterate display, so it probably didn't matter what he said. "I mean, you're not reading your book!" he said. "You're just staring at it. Why?" he asked, wondering what in the world possessed him to do that. "Ask Snape a question? Who does that?" he thought. Seriously, what deity had he offended recently?

(lol I got my dad's pc for now, I hope I can stay on it all night-I WISH mine would get fixed or something)

"You still can't answer a simple question is seems and wether or not I'm reading is none of your business" Snape replied "Severous, did you get that message last night from Lupin?" Luna asked in her usual tone (I love the way she speaks, accent wise) "I did, it was 3:30 in the morning" "Did you understand what he meant?" Luna asked one more time "No, nor do I really care about those two and their relationships" Snape replied turning a page in his book and actually reading it. Luna shrugged and watched Harry and Snape carefully then turned to face Minerva speaking to her.

Harry huffed, since he mostly wanted to continue the conversation with Snape--he was annoyed at how the man brushed him off all the time. He wasn't sure what this message from Lupin was about, since he had taken a Sleeping Draught the night before and wouldn't be woken up until it wore off unless in extenuating circumstances. He thought to ask Luna, but she was conversing with Minerva, and he didn't really have a wish for Snape to snark at him some more, so he didn't ask him. Instead, he just wondered, rubbing his arm a bit because it had begun to throb gently.

He wanted to watch Snape again because the man mystified him, but as the man seemed to be actually reading now, he figured he'd just let him be and finished his breakfast. Then, he got up, smiled at everyone, said "see you later, guys" and headed to his classroom.

Once there, Harry made sure he had all the syllabuses in order for the first years. He'd never gotten any in DADA as a student, but he felt that it would eliminate some problems, like in Snape's class when he gave pop quizzes on material that nobody knew had to be read in the first place. Harry had one for each level and he had made enough copies for everyone. He'd thought about how to differentiate it from normal parchment but then it had hit him--he'd just charm it lime green! That'd definitely do it. He'd tell the students how beneficial it would be for them to have an outline of what he was planning to teach, and he'd just tell them if they had to change anything.

Today, he had just decided to do an introduction and have a quiz for everyone--except first years--to see what they already knew and would make their syllabuses when he tweaked his lesson plans to teach everything they needed to know. For the first years, he'd just give a speech and show them expelliarmus. He didn't really expect them to be able to do it, as it wasn't the easiest spell, but he wanted to show them an example and also see if he had any extremely powerful wizards or witches in the class.

Today, he had the seventh year NEWT class, fourth year Slytherins and Ravenclaws, second year Gryffindors and Ravenclaws, first year Gryffindors and Slytherins, fifth year Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, and third year Slytherins and Hufflepuffs. He wasn't particularly looking forward to the classes with Gryffindors and Slytherins together, but he'd make it work.

Soon enough when class was about to start all the teachers had left except for Minerva of course whom had now been watching all the late students come into the breakfast hall. Snape was in his classroom and used magic to tidy everything up since the rooms only got cleaned if the teachers did it and there was no use wasting time when you have magic at your aid.

Snape never gave out any syllabuses (can't spell) during any year for any reasons. He only had to send out a consent form to the parents saying:

'Greetings,

This is Professor Snape and I am only here to say that while your student attends Hogwarts academy that they are to take potions without choice. With that said, the only way your student gets hurt in my class if they purposly are not listening or are not paying attention of what exactly to do and with one slight off measurement could severely hurt them. You may or may not sign this but remember it is a must that they take the class sooner or later.

-Professor Snape'

And that would be the end of that since he didn't like putting too much effort into something that usually would be ignored and Minerva and Dumbledore were the only ones that forced that rule on sending them out. Soon enough the chime sounded and the rooms were to be ready as students came into the room chatting and ignoring their surroundings except for first years who looked it awe at everything around them.

All the other teachers were to give their introduction speaches and then test the new first years at a simple spell, potion, or charm that would be suitable for their yearly knowledge. And with that said, it would be something very, very easy in which Snape hated since he was always up for a challenge. "Settle down" Snape spoke out to the class like every year had begun and the only ones that didn't listen were the first years, "Settle down" Snape said a bit louder which caused everyone to become quiet.

Harry sat at his desk, waiting for the students to arrive. He looked up as he heard the shuffling of feet, indicating that they were beginning to pour into the classroom. He gave a few minutes and then, when it looked like nobody else was coming, he checked the time. Right, so it was time to begin class. As this was the seventh year NEWT class, it wasn't as if anyone was getting lost since they all knew their way around the castle by now. The students were, of course, chattering amongst themselves.

"Hello, everyone," he said loudly, and most people stopped talking. "I'm Professor Potter and I'll be your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this year. First, let me take roll call." He did so, and found everyone present. "Good, now, I am aware that your knowledge in this subject is...let me say...scattered. You've had four different professors in this subject?" he asked, and everyone nodded. "Well, I will attempt to fill in the gaps as well as teach you what is in the curriculum for NEWT Defense Against the Dark Arts. This class will not be easy, so if you took it just because you thought it would be, please go to you Head of House as soon as possible and request it to be dropped. Now, I'm not saying that if you are not especially skilled in the subject, you will not pass. Just be prepared to work, alright?" He saw the students nodding as he continued his speech.

"Now, I regretfully have to give you a quiz," he said, hearing groans from around the room. "Rest assured, it won't count for a grade; I just need to know how much you all know. Then I will give you each a syllabus based on what I think we need to cover in this class. Now, any questions?" There were none. "Then, without further ado, here are your quizzes." Harry handed out the quizzes, adding, "If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

The students started the quiz and Harry sat at his desk in the front of the room, realizing he had absolutely nothing to do. "During free period," he decided, "I'll take a trip to the library and borrow a few books." Astoundingly enough, Harry had realized, with Hermione's help, that reading was a lot of fun when it wasn't required. Now he read a lot of different kinds of books, not just Quidditch books, as some snarky professors might think! Oh, speaking of Snape, Harry sort of hoped he saw him at the library. Maybe he could manage to shock Snape yet. In fact, maybe he should borrow some books about Potions.

Occasionally during the class, while he thought about Snape more than he'd have liked to admit, students would come up and ask questions. He'd answer them to the best of his ability without giving them any answers. He checked the time again, noticing that it was just about time to wrap up. "Alright, class, please pass up your quizzes," he announced, walking around to collect them.

"Okay, so, I will take a look at these and decide what exactly we need to cover based on them. In the meantime, please read the introduction of your textbook. You do not have to take notes; just understand it," he instructed. "Alright, you all can go. Have a great day!" he said, smiling. "Well," he thought, "that wasn't so bad!"

His second year class went similarly, and then he found himself heading towards the library. When he got there, he said hello to Irma Pince, the librarian, who still seemed a bit wary of him. Yes, alright, he knew he was not kind to books during his school years, but they contained so much information. It was wonderful.

He walked around the library, occasionally checking the time so he wouldn't be late to his next class. He found the section of Potions journals, but they were not very current. "I guess I'll have to take out some subscriptions," he thought. He continued to walk around, looking at books and thinking about Snape again. It was, after all, the Potions section.

Snape looked at his students and then walked around to each one passing out a quiz based on what they knew. "You will take this test, you will not cheat, I am counting this as a grade, and you will pass it or you will lose points for your house. You may begin" and with a simple flick of his wand, all those whom had cell phones out or music players or even simply writing notes vanished from everyone's hands and there were murmurs afterwards.

"Absolutely NO TALKING" Snape was just as hard as he was back then when potter attended school. It was autumn which meant that soon they would have 1 week of autumn break to go home or stay with the teachers they would ask to watch over them but most kids would go home. Some could even use magic their and even though they couldn't at hogwarts they still did.

Time passed as Snape had remembered that he had some books on hold and decided after class to go and fetch them. 'Wonder how Potter is doing?' he thought to himself wondering if Potter was being to easy on the kids or actually being hard on them. Then again he couldn't see Potter be rude to anyone unless it was himself or someone who harms his friends and/or family.

The bell rung and all the kids had passed up their papers and placed them on Professor Snape's desk. Snape hadn't even realized that class was over and when he did that was when Minerva came in. "How is your classes going Severous?" Minerva asked. Snape looked up realizing she just came in and seemed to be in her usual cheery mood. "Same as ever" Snape answered.

"You shouldn't be so hard on the students" Minerva spoke out casually. "If I do not be hard on them, they will turn out just like Potter had. Thinking nothing about school mattered and only their precious friends" Snape spoke while looking at the students papers. "Is that really a bad thing Severous?" Minerva asked in a pondering sort of tone.

Snape stood and looked at her, ever since Dumbledore was killed and she took over, she had constantly been on his case with how to treat the students. He wondered why he never left the school but then he thought it was all he had left. "This is my classroom" he began starting to simply get annoyed "And as long as I am teaching, I will not change my way to teach, now I have to go to the library for more books" Snape replied walking past her.

"Harry might have been your student but do not take everything you did out on him just because you simply have mixed feelings" Minerva stated and Snape had already headed for the door and didn't stop. When he got into the library not saying a word, he was glad that no one came here and stppd in the back of the potions shelf for dark potions and scanned the books. 'Maybe I should show Minerva why students should be disciplined the way I teach' he thought to himself.

(so sorry my pc crashed on me)

Harry was thinking about Snape so much as he perused the books that he actually saw him. That was odd. Oh, wait, there Snape was, in the Potions section; namely the section about dark potions, but that was alright, since Harry now knew better the differences between light and dark, in a sense. In fact, it was a rather murky "line"; he could respect Snape better having understood this to a point. Anyway, the object of his thoughts at the moment was standing not too far away, and Harry wasn't sure what to do. "I guess I'll just pretend I haven't noticed him and keep perusing books. He must have a free period at the same time as I do," he thought, picking up a book called Antidotes to Poison Potions and skimming it. It seemed interesting because it talked about the different bases of antidotes and how they were related to the potions they cured.

"I wonder what Snape is looking for," he thought. The man hadn't looked terribly happy when he'd glanced at him.

Snape pulled out a book with red pages and a silver bounding, the book itself was black. He turned opening it and walking away with it. He began skimming the pages looking for curses and hexes to place on a certain person. Though whom that person actually was, was still a mystery. He stopped when he found something interesting; he wasn't too far from Potter but also had his back turned to him and didn't notice him since not many people were allowed in his section with the dark potions. "The Killing Curse?" he read out loud but more of to himself "Interesting, let's see if this'll work" he added and closed the book smiling a tad and walking out of the library as the smile faded and students veered away from him.

Soon enough an explosion was heard and Fred and George appeared behind Harry. "Hey there mate" they spoke in unision and smiled "How have you been, we haven't seen or heard from you in a couple years" and they were right, after what happened with Dumbledore, the ministry, Lord Voldemort, and the students at Hogwarts, everyone went along their own seperate paths. "You okay Harry?" Fred asked. George looks at Harry and to what he was looking at "Ah! You're in love" though the twins only saw a cape leaving, they didn't know it was Snape himself. Snape made it back to his classroom and into his office where he studied his book even more closely, taking down potions ingrediants.

"What the hell is Snape looking at here? I thought he wasn't actually evil?" Harry thought, confused. He stared after Snape as he walked away, a little bummed that the man didn't see him.

Of course, Fred and George would choose that moment to appear. "Oh, hey guys! Uh, why are you here?" Harry asked them. He hadn't seen them in some time because he, Harry, had taken some time to learn more about the world; he'd been annoyed at the limited knowledge because of living at the Dursley's, so he left Britain for a bit.

In any event..."I'm not in love!" he exclaimed, perhaps a bit too quickly. Of course, Irma Pince, the librarian, promptly shushed them; they were in a library after all. "I'm not in love!" he said, more quietly. "Anyway, I have to get back soon; my free period is almost over. Walk with me?" he asked, going over to check out a few books.
