Well I have this friend that is moving out of state and we've been friends since freshmen year of high school, and she has decided that shes gonna move to florida for the next two years. I mean we are like sisters and shes moving. I ,don't know what I'm gonna do, I don't want to say goodbye and I really don't want herto leave...... But her leaving and living with her grandma is probably a good thing for her.....

Well, when we graduated from high school, my best friend moved more than 1,000 miles away, so I know how you feel.

But it was in her best interest to move, and you have to understand that and try to let your friend go. If it's the best thing for her, you have to do your best to support her decision to leave.

Of course, you're going to be sad at first -- there's no denying that will happen. But eventually, you'll get used to her not being around all the time, and you can always use the infinite amounts of technology at your fingertips to talk to her: chatting online, emailing, skype, calling on the phone, etc.

And you can always go visit her! :D When I was in college and had more spare time, I'd go visit my BFF once a year. I'd either drive there or fly, and visit for a long weekend.

I see my best friend once a year, maybe, so I always try to get in as much time with her as possible, as it's very precious these days. This thread reminds me that I need to go visit her sometime this year... XD

Well, I have had a lot of experience with moving. I have moved my whole life so far. I am going into 10th grade, and this next school that I just moved to over the summer is going to be my 8th school. I know how hard it is to lose people, and someday you'll get used to life without your friend. You'll still miss them very much, but there are many ways you can communicate. You said it'll be for the next two years. Well then that'll make you that much closer when you finally get to see her again. be happy it is only two years and not forever.

I have moved several times and I still maintain a friendship with my friends in other states. As long as you maintain a window of communication then it should work out and if she ever comes up to visit you can always meet up with her then!

I know alot of people hate it but facebook is a excellent way to stay in touch with friends that are far away. I keep in touch with all my old friends from grade school (which was in one state) all my cousins that I like (which is in about 6-7 different states) and alot of my friends that graduated and went to colleges far away, through facebook. I at least know what's going on in their lives and can in a small way be apart of it.

It's never easy but if it's right for her you can find some form of solice in that!

I guess its a crime to spend time with your friends before they leave.... my friend that's moving to Florida is at my house and we are trying to get in as much time as we can before she leaves but my little sister won't let us be and she got an attitude just because my friend was holding the kitten and now my mother has stated that she needs to go home tonight and we won't be able to see one another till i get money saved up to go visit her in Florida. its not fair if her friend was gonna leave for another state and she wanted to spend time with her i would stay out of the way ........
