It's probably because I can't think of anything to talk about!
Hmm...
Harry Potter movie is coming up in a bit! Who is going? I am fully determined to go see it on opening night -- getting tickets will be a chore.

Haha, it's true! I'm going to see it on opening night too. I need to get tickets. I think it's going to be awesome! But I still don't entirely grasp the whole "part 1" dealio

It's just to span out the whole Harry Potter fandom because, after this film, the series is going to be 100% done; therefore peoples' interest will naturally die down, even more than it did after the seventh book. Also, it's probably to ensure that they cover everything in the book... since pretty much all of it is important. But, in a way, I'm kind of glad they're doing that... because I want Harry Potter to survive as long as possible. I cried for the ending of the books, so the ending of the movies will mean the end for good... and that's heart-breaking to me, since Harry Potter played a huge role in my childhood.

Oh yeah of course, I am glad it's stretching out too. I mean, the Harry Potter franchise is something of a shared love of everyone vaguely in our age range. It's a wonderful and moving series. I just didn't really understand why they wouldn't make one monster movie re:Lord of the Rings style. I've also heard tell of a timeskip-ed 'next' HP series that JK might be working on. Two vague internet articles, of which I doubt the validity. Still, fangirls can always dream.
Of a universe with more Snape and Draco that is T_T

I'm pretty confident she's not going to touch the Harry Potter series again... but at least we have fan-fiction and role-playing!

Yeah, that's what I think too but hell, I wish she would. She creates such rich characters. I love fanfiction, it makes anything possible. I have a friend that ships Lucian x Hermoine so hard it hurts. That really can only happen in fanfiction. Oh and roleplaying! A great love of mine!

So we're going nuts over Harry Potter?
I'm torn between wanting to see it end and dreading the end of an era!
Poor Ron, he's so underloved...he's one of my favorite characters!

Ron's pretty great, but I love some other character's more, Luna and Draco are two of my favorites (Luna x Draco = yummy) along with Snape, Hagrid and Hermoine. Honestly, I love them all so much that pretty much any of them could pull to the front depending on the situation. Generally though, Draco's a personal fave.

-Ron
-Hermione
-Draco
-Neville

Mind you, that's not in any particular order.

My two favorites would definitely be Hermione and Draco. Emma Watson and Tom Felton seem to be lovely people in real life as well. They all are really, those two just stand out more to me.
Can someone explain RPing a tad bit more for me?

You're basically writing a story in a given storyline--usually pretty loose--with multiple people.

RPing? It's Role Playing a specific kind of creative writing that developed through the internet. Traditionally, RPs are pairs or groups of people in which a general plot or story type is predetermined and every person involved acts as a set character whose actions they control. RPs are generally either fandom based or original, and both are fun.
An example would be an RP in which my partner and I have decided pirates are going to rob our town, and we'll try to join their crew. We'd each have a character to play and the action would progress from there (this is not a real RP this is just an example!)
I'm sure the other guys that hang around this thread will be able to embellish upon what I've said, I don't know if that's a good explanation.

QFT.
Also... Taiyo, that just makes me cringe. I suppose some people can get away with doing that as long as the expectations are mutual... but I, personally, cannot stand it when my role-play partners don't put thought into their writing. I believe that if you don't put thought into it... then it's just going to turn out all wonky and boring. There are several things you need to consider for every single post... 'where do I see our characters going?', 'what can I do to feed the situation or create an interesting twist?', 'how would my character really react to this?'. You need to be able to look at both the big picture and all the small pictures, and especially be capable of adapting your ideas to whatever your partner supplies. It's an ongoing challenge... and that's why I love it.

That's actually not what I meant; what I was actually saying was that I never really thought about the process. I try and put thought into what my characters are doing (which is sometimes hard when you're just writing a reaction) when I'm posting. That, and it's sometimes fun to throw a monkey wrench into the plot, just to add a bit more depth. I've just never thought about the process that goes on when you're RPing. Which is weird, because I've started several RPs myself.
