Damon smiled softly and yet earnestly sadly. "Someone who would love me back, I guess," he said as he then shook his head and cleared his throat.

"Unlucky in love?" She asked. After the story Stefan had told her, she was guessing that was the case after all it was what made the most sense, it had to stick to go through something like that.

Damon just nodded As he then sat down on the other side of Elena. "Pretty much. I mean, I'm over my last love," Damon said as Stefan snickered. "and I'm just waiting, I guess," he finished as he shrugged his soldiers. "So, Elena, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself," Damon then added.

"Well, love has a way of finding you when you least expect it" She said with a soft smile "What ever do you want to know?" She asked. What was she supposed to start with? That she wasted hours writing in her journal, after her parents death, or that her parents where dead, her brother was into drugs and other bad things, her life didn't seem like a good one to talk about.

"Well, Stefan tells me that you recently lost your parents," Damon said, sincerity in his tone. "I'm sorry to hear that," he told her. "Well, Stefan and I never knew out parents so...yeah," he said.

"Yes I did" She said "Although I got the feeling you two, didn't talk at all, I'm surprised you knew that" She said. Then again everything got around in a small town so him finding out honestly wasn't that surprising "I'm sorry to hear that" She said

Damon shrugged. "It doesn't bother us. We didn't know her, so we don't miss her," Stefan said.

Damon glared at his brother. "She gave birth to us, Stefan," Damon corrected him.

"Bu look at what we are, Damon!" Stefan said, raising his voice.

Damon sighed and controlled his anger. "Stefan, we have guests. Can we not talk about this now?" he asked politely.

Stefan sighed. "I'm going up stairs to my room. If I'm not down here by the time you leave, then goodbye, Elena," Stefan said as he ran upstairs to his room. He needed to vent.

Damon raised an eyebrow after him. "All...right. Sorry about that, Elena," he told her.

Elena watched as Stefan went upstairs "Should I go attempt to talk to him?" She asked as she glanced back at Damon. She felt kind of bad, that he just left like that, but then again maybe he just needed to be alone, a lot of people wanted to be alone when they were mad "I can leave if you want" She said

Damon looked at Elena and gave her a soft smile. "You don't have to leave," he said as he shook his head and twisted around so that his elbows were leaning on the smooth granite island. "I'm sorry you feel un-welcomed here. We really do love having you around," Damon assured her.

"It's not that I feel unwelcome, I just feel like this is a family matter I shouldn't stick my nose into" She said with a soft smile as she looked at him. He certainly was very charming, and good looking, he probably got a lot of attention from girls, which just made her wonder why he hadn't fallen in love yet "You know, I'm sure with your looks you get a lot of attention from girls, and yet your still alone, I think the bad looking guys have a rather lonely future awaiting them if someone like you can't find someone" She said

Damon chuckled at her comment. "Thank you, Elena," he told her. "I'm just looking for someone I can feel the same about. Someone who can see past my history," he said as he shook his head and chuckled at his own words.

"And what history would that be?" She asked "Does this involve the girl Katherine?" She asked. Stefan had mentioned her before, and how they bother had loved each other and how she had died, must be hard to move on from something like that, a girl who's messing around with both brothers, horrible women she sounded like.

Damon froze at the name. He then sighed and look down. "No...it doesn't have to do with Katherine," he said in a voice just above a whisper. "It's just a family secret that can only be unhidden under certain circumstances," he told her as he then looked at her, unable to stare away from her neck that was so open and exposed to him.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought her up" She said softly. Now she felt bad, it was probably something he didn't want to remember and she had brought it up, smooth move. "And what circumstances would they be?" She asked. She couldn't help but be a little curious, it seemed like some deep dark secret "What are you staring at?" She asked

Damon felt hunger hit him hard and his inner-demon fight to get itself forward. Damon turned his back to Elena as he tried to compose himself and tried to hide the darkness that grew within his eyes. He could smell her blood and the fact that her pulse was in his ear was invasive to his mind. He shook his head. "Don't be sorry. It's a fact in life Stefan and I have to face when we have to," he said. "Why do you wanna know anyways?" he asked in a dark voice that was struggling to sound harmless.

Elena watched him carefully, there was something odd about what was going on, and there was almost a threatening atmosphere in the air, but she shook it off. It was probably just her imagining things "Are you okay Damon?" She asked as she almost got up and walked over to him but decided against it, maybe it really was time for her to leave "I was just curious was all" She said

Once Damon had shook off the vampiric rush he had just gotten, he turned his head back to Elena. "Head rush, don't worry," he assured her. "I understand that you're curious," he said as he shrugged. I'm thirsty and I need to drink now or Elena will see that side of me. And I don't want her to leave....

Elena stood up and walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder "Are you sure your alright?" She asked as she looked at him. For some reason she was really worried about him, even though it appeared like he was fine, for some reason she didn't believe him something was wrong, something he couldn't tell her maybe. "Maybe I should just go, I'll see you again sometime" She said

Damon sighed. He just didn't want her to leave. Yet. "Elena, I like having you here. But if you want to go home, being that it's getting late, then go ahead. I'll see you soon," he said with a tired smile.

"It's not like I want to leave, I mean I'm enjoying myself here, you just don't look that good" She said rather honestly. He seemed tired and like he was trying to force himself from doing something, there would be other chances for them to run into each other and for them to talk and hang out, in fact she wanted to run into him, she wanted to know more and more about him.

Hunger hit Damon harder than it had hit him in a long time. Before he knew it, the Vampiric rush hit him fast and his arms were wrapped around Elena, looking down at her as he then bent his head to her neck and sunk his teeth into her, drinking what blood he could. But he did know to only drink a little, to keep her alive, and he's done that so many times, it'd be easy for him.

When he had sensed he had drunk enough he retrieved his fangs and took a step back as he let out a relaxed sigh and wiped the blood off of his mouth. He then looked at Elena with fear, searching for her response.

Elena was about to say something else, when he did what he did. What the hell was going on? She didn't scream, she wasn't sure how to react to it, she had no idea what was going on, was he a vampire?

Once he finished she took a few steps backwards and stared at him "What the hell?" She asked.

With a weird fear Damon hasn't had for a long time, Damon worked his magic on Elena. "You will tell no one, alright?" he asked. He then sighed and rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm a Vampire. Does that answer your questions?" he then asked her.

When Stefan smelled the blood, he hurried out of his room and down stairs to the kitchen where he sensed a massive confusion wave coming from Elena. He hurried into the kitchen. "What the hell did you do, Damon!?" Stefan said in a cold and dark voice to his brother.

Damon looked at Stefan. Great. Not this now.

Elena stared at him and then looked over at Stefan. If Damon was one didn't that mean Stefan was one to? She looked back and forth between them, not sure what to react if she ran, they would catch up to her, so running wouldn't work "I think it's time for me to go" She said, and almost added a 'and never return' but decided against it.

Stefan ignored what Elena said as he then grabbed Damon's shirt and threw him up against the wall. "You. Keep your teeth off of her!" Stefan growled.

A growl erupted from Damon's throat as he then pushed Stefan off of him, never taking his eyes off of Stefan. "Goodbye, Elena. See you around," he told her in a calm voice.
