Jessica looked at him. "Tomorrow..." she repeated. Seeing how sad he was, she sat up on her knees in front of him and wrapped her arms around him. "I'll miss you, Luke." She said giving him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Don't forget about me okay?"

Luke nodded and hugged her back. "I'll miss you too.... I will never forget you or my promise." And then he dove in for his first kiss. He pressed his lips against hers.

Jessica didn't even have a chance to close her eyes as their lips met. Although this wasn't exactly the way she had planned their first kiss, it wasn't a bad back up plan. The bell rang and internally she sighed. Standing up, she held out a hand to him. "Will you walk me to class, Luke?"

Luke pulled away and stood up. He nodded and held her hand. He walked her to her class and hugged her. "Be safe okay?"

She smiled and blinked back tears as he hugged her. "I will. Be good." She told him quietly before heading into class. She was really going to miss him and Jessica knew things would be different the next time she saw him. For same strange reason, she knew they would see each other again.

Luke was 18 when he moved back to go to college in his old home town. But his mind was too drugged to remember a promise from years ago. He smoked while he walked around the old town. Trying to remember stuff, but couldn't. He laughed. "Damn, my mind is so fucked up..."

Jessica was hurrying along with her nose in her book, when she bumped into what she saw as a cloud of smoke. The impact knocked her to the ground and scattered her papers and books. "I am so sorry." She said as she began to gather everything together. "I can be such a klutz."

Luke grumbled when he was bumped into. It was lucky he wasn't that messed up to fall over with the impact. But she did. He threw his smoke to the ground and stepped on it. He bent down and helped her out. "Yeah whatever."

Jessica sighed and rolled her eyes. "Look, I said I was....Luke?" She said as she looked up at him. Seeing the crumpled cigarette, she shook her head. "Never mind. I'm sorry." Gathering up the last of her stuff, she walked past the guy and hurried on. She criticized herself for thinking of Luke again. Meanwhile on the sidewalk behind her lay a forgotten bag of chocolate chip cookies.

Luke blinked when she called him Luke. How did she know his name? He watched her walk off, and picked up the forgotten pack of cookies. "You forgot your cookies!" He called and looked down at them. He opened the bag and stole one, stuffing it into his mouth. Sure, he'd feel bad about ti later if he remembered about it.

Later that day, Jessica saw the guy again on campus and sighed. "Are you lost?" She asked politely. There were certain things he did that reminded her of Luke, like the way he talked, but other than that he seemed like a jerk.

Luke shook his head. By that time all the cookies were gone and there was no way she was getting her cookies back. "No...... Yes?" He never liked to admit he had a fault at first but then he always did."I can't the cooking department..."

"The cooking department? I'll take you. Come on." She pulled on his sleeve a little. "It's easy to get lost in this place, so memorize landmarks. The cooking department shares a border with the elementary school, so just look for the tree covered with carved hearts." She explained, pointing out Heart Tree. "Just tell anyone, you're looking for Heart Tree. They'll know what you're talking about." She looked longingly at it for a minute and touched her lips with her hand, before jolting back to reality. "Also, don't be so fuzzy around your professor's. The cooking department is notorious for having the strictest professor's."

Luke blinked at her tugging on his sleeve. He flashed into the past for a moment. He stopped seeing the heart tree. Again he flashed into the past. He moved towards it without listening to anything else she said. He looked around at it's trunk. He found what he was looking for. He saw a flash of the past again. He stared at it amaed and ran a hand over it. Even as messed up as he was he remembered it.

Looking over at him, she followed him to the heart tree and saw which heart he was looking at. Coughing lightly, she knelt beside him. "You're going to be late for class and you'll get in serious trouble."

Luke shook his head. "I don't start until tomorrow...." He mumbled. He knew that for sure. Besides, he would gladly skip the class to stare at the heart.

Jessica nodded. "Well, I'll be late for class. By the way, I'm Jessica." She said extending her hand for him to shake. "And you are?"

Luke turned to stare at her. Jessica...... J... He shook her hand. Maybe it was a coincidence. "Luke."

Jessica's hand shook slightly and then she sat down. "Nice...nice to meet you." She said fighting tears and telling herself to stop. "Will you please stop staring at me like that? I'm not crazy you know."

There was no way it wasn't a coincidence. His mind actually cleared up and he could remember. He hugged her. "God Jessica. It's been forever.... I missed you so much."

Jessica sighed and hugged him back. "I thought it was you. You've grown up to be pretty cute." She teased him although her mind was telling her to just shut up and hug him so he couldn't go anywhere. Closing her eyes, she just held onto him for a little while. "I missed you so much." She murmured.

Luke smiled lightly but just hugged her. It felt wonderful to just hug her. It was amazing. He had missed her too. He rubbed her hair lightly. And then he coughed. He pulled away and brought out a smoke, lit it, and took a long drag.

Jessica pulled away and watched as he took a long drag. "What else is new?" She asked without judging him. Her cell phone rang just then and she groaned. Digging into her bag, she found it. "Hello. Oh, hi Derek. No I can't make it to the rest of my classes today. Take notes for me. Talk to you later. Bye." She hung up and stuffed the phone in her bag. "sorry." She said looking over at Luke and smiling.

Luke froze hearing a males name. He looked over at her and spoke. He ignored her question. "Whose Derek?" He asked, wanting to rip the guys throat out.

"Part of a study group of about 10 people." Jessica said plainly. "Calm down Luke. I waited for you." She pushed her braid over her shoulder. "I didn't even go to prom." She laughed a little trying to get him to calm down a little.
