THE STORY

Daemon Games has come out with a new gaming system, one that will literally put you into a different world - a virtual reality. The game is called "Dead Life."

In the game, you can accept quests, kill monsters, and even start businesses and get married. The game was a huge success, but unfortunatley, someone hacked the game and infected it with a virus.
The virus made it impossible for gamers to log out, meaning they will remain asleep and in the game. Fortunately, someone from Phoenix Games caught the virus and destroyed it before everyone could be effected by it, but there are still some trapped in the game without being able to wake from it.
Worst, the NPC's are getting even more violent and are starting to attack the towns, which they had never done before. This is bad for those who have little to no battle experience (which is most everyone due to the fact that the game is new, so everyone is pretty much a noobie).

You are one that is "lucky" enough to be caught in the game.
The only thing you can do is fight to survive. If you die (lose all HP), you go back to the rebirth point and lose a level of experience.
If you reach 0 of experience, you will automatically log out and wake up...except, because of the virus, you will not wake up. You will remain in limbo, so to speak. You are stuck at a white page until the virus can be solved.

----------

Setting

There are four different countries: north, east, south, and west.
Each country has a large central city surrounded by walls. Monsters are outside the cities, and small villages are run by NPC's for healing purposes.

North
Cold, icy, land, but there's a large city in the center of the country. It is surrounded by huge walls, and on the other side of those walls is a cold, barren ice land with huge mountains.

East
Similar surroundings to ancient Japan and China. Outside the walls are some mountains and a lot of forests. There is also a large river running through it.

South
Tropical city. Surrounding area is the ocean (watch out for sharks - they jump out at you from time to time) and a jungle.

West
Modern western city. There's a lot of skyscrapers and is the busiest, most crowded city. Outside the walls are the slums in which monsters teem and attack anyone who trespasses.

----------

NEWS

8-26-10
THE GAME IS INFECTED!!!! BEWARE THE VIRUS!!!
Please note that we are still accepting characters :)

New special attack: Rage
Rage slowly builds up from being attacked and attacking in turn. It is activated by a voice command (a war cry) if the bar is completely full.
Advantages: greatly increases the amount of damage against a foe and, depending on the weapon or any augment on the weapon, will activate the weapon's special power (cheaper weapons do not have special powers)
Disadvantages: very slow to fill, generally can only be used once against one enemy, wears out the player more quickly and actually takes away a bit of HP from the player

But we're now open!!

Feng Li wandered the Eastern countries, talking to some vendors and buying more healing potions. "I need to find a healer soon," she thought, fingering the hilt of her butterfly swords at her hip. At her back rested a huge broadsword with a pure white blade, which matched her long, white ponytail and white wolf ears. Her tail twitched from the hole in the back of her black pants as if it were of its own mind. She sniffed the air, then grinned rather wolfishly as she recognized the scent. She hurried into a restaurant and bought a bowl of ramen from a rather attractive elf.
"Back again?"
"Yup," Feng said, slurping down the ramen happily. "I just leveled up to thirteen and I need supplies. I would be a twenty already if I didn't have to go to class," she said with a sigh. "This is more fun than classes."
The elf just chuckled and served more food.

The hulking brute that was Dero was making his way through one of the Eastern cities. He honestly didn't know where he was, his character had started in the North and he'd manage to find his way down to the East SOMEHOW. He grunted as the other characters gave him angry looks. After all, the giant couldn't help but take up half the street he was walking down. All around there were vendors and consumers, but he payed them no mind. The street began to get narrower, as stalls and players crowded the walkway. He stopped in his tracks.

"OI!" Said a small elf who had run into the giant's rear. Dero was probably one and a half times his size, and the axe he carried on his back was probably heavier than the elf. "What are you thinking you gigantic dumbass?! Some of us have to get through here!"

Dero turned around slowly and glared at the tiny creature with yellow eyes. "Excuse me." His deep, rough voice shook the elf to the core, despite it simply being the Giant talking politely. Never-the-less, the elf was looking for a fight.

"Excuse your ass!" He yelled up at the giant, who was now turned around completely and attempting to make his way back through the crowd. The elf stood in front of him. He was a lightly armoured class that Dero didn't recognize. With a sword on his back and short black hair. Whoever played the elf had poor style. The commotion was beginning to draw a ring of onlookers, hoping for a good fight.

Feng heard the sounds of a fight and instantly perked up. She tossed money at the elf before running outside (still holding onto her ramen bowl) to see an elf yelling at a giant. Her wolf ears were perked and her grin was wide, exposing her fangs. Moving quickly, she jumped on someone's shoulder and pulled herself up onto the roof of a nearby building. She sat cross-legged and watched the fight. She loved a good fight, but it was even better when she was involved in one herself. Still, she wasn't so arrogant as to steal someone else's fun. She watched while eating her ramen noisily.
"Hmm, could go either way. Giants are known for their strength, but elves are pretty damn fast. Warrior versus mage?" She thought, eying the two with an experienced eye. Part of her wanted to be an unofficial announcer of the battle, but the other part was too busy eating ramen. She bounced happily as she watched and ate.

The crowd had now pushed outward, so that there was about a ten by twenty box for the two to fight in, with onlookers on the edges. The elf, exhilerated by the growing crowd, was growing more and more gutsy. He jumped up and pushed the Giant's chest. Instead of causing the desired effect, the Elf ended up underestimating Dero and fell backwards. He stayed on his feet, though. "Come on, tough guy! Let's do this! RIGHT NOW!" The elf drew his sword and charged the Giant, his hand beginning to glow blue. Dero's hand moved out in front of him and caught his reckless enemy's face, lifting him up by the head. The elf flailed and kicked, slapping the hand with the flat of his sword. "Hehe... I did it." The giant grinned with teeth almost as yellow as his eyes.

Feng chuckled at the elf's antics. Unless the elf was faking, he was just a noobie trying to gain street credit by defeating a giant. "Aww, no fun," She thought, until the giant grabbed the elf's face. "Pfft..." Feng laughed as the elf flailed. She set down her ramen bowl and began cheering for the giant, mostly due to the fact that he was an excellent source of entertainment. "Give him the chair!" She yelled jokingly, and continued cheering for him. She scooted closer to the edge of the roof for a better view. "Shouldn't've picked a fight with this one, eh?" She thought of the elf. "Apparently no one told him how to check other player's stats. Noob," She thought with a knowing nod.

((... That makes sense. I was wondering about the whole "Better than classes" thing xDD))

Dero turned his attention away from the elf for a moment to listen to a voice he had just heard yell something about a chair. "A chai--UGH!" He exclaimed as the elf smashed a blue, glowing foot into his chin. The elf kicked off his chest and did a backflip, landing on his feet.

"Who do you think you are?!" He screamed at the giant, breathily heavily. "You could have crushed my beautiful face!" His face was far from beautiful, but compared to the ragged giant, he wasn't bad.

Virtual blood flowed from Dero's lip in the place the elf had kicked him, right where his helmet did not protect. Ice began to form over the spot, and a little bit on his hand. "What the hell..." Dero stared at himself, then at the Elf.

"Hah! That's my specialty. I'm an Ice Battlemage, you see! The best in this game!" The elf pranced around triumphantly until a massive axe nearly chopped off his backside, landing in the space just inches behind him. Dero's mouth was now completely frozen over. He needed to kill the elf quickly before his whole head was frozen!

((haha, yeah, I figure I'd wait until a few more people joined up before the virus hits :P))

"Ooh, an interesting development. He's not a noob after all!" Feng said, beginning to narrate the fight now that she had finished her meal. "Well, he's still a noob, but he has some skills after all. And an ego. Not so much a pretty face. I've seen better," Feng said quite honestly, enjoying herself. Part of her felt bad that she had distracted the giant, so she felt it was only fair that she distract the giant, even if only for a moment. She chuckled, amused with herself. Her tail wagged against her will, expressing her excitement clearly. Someone looked up at her and yelled for her to shut up, but she merely stuck out her tongue at him. "Bite me, if you can!" She gave him a growl and flashed her teeth at him before turning back to the fight.

((Sure, sure. Makes sense))

Dero faked a failed effort to lift the axe, which was stuck in the ground now, attempting to draw the elf in closer... It worked perfectly. "Having a little trouble there, big boy?" The elf chuckled and danced over the axe. "Why don't I help you wi--HURK" As he stepped over, Dero pulled the axe upward, along with the unsuspecting elf, hoisted them over his head and sent them both down into the dirt. It was far from graceful, but it caused massive crushing damage to the elf. Dero scowled, somehow he was still alive. Maybe the elf wasn't all talk after all. Of course, the actual axe head had barely missed, and the elf had merely taken damage from the fall, but still. He must have been a relatively high level mage to take THAT much damage. Out of respect, Dero waited for the Elf to pull his head out of the ground. The ice had wrapped around the back of his head now.

((I was going to post when I got up, but I better post now. I was wondering about the virus thing too. I was reading the posts thinking...wow this is pretty peaceful for a virus ridden world. Makes sense though to wait)).

Breathing out a sigh of discontentment, Crystafare began the long process of healing and reviving her fellow party members. They were on the 10th floor of the dungeon. The final floor before the final boss. This was taking way too long. She buffed everybody with status boosting buffs, and then they headed into the final battle. Crystafare stayed towards the back as the fighters went and began attacking the boss with renewed vigor. She sent heals to them once in a while. To be completely honest it was a pretty boring job, but it paid for her repair bills, and it helped her level faster since everyone was looking for healers a.k.a. "healbots." The monster gave one massive roar, and then fell to the ground dead. Collecting her loot, she ended up getting a better staff for healing.

Warping out of the dungeon Crystafare found herself in the main town of the Eastern Countries. She was running low on almost every single potion she had so she left to go find a merchant shop. Passing quickly by an alleyway she heard rather than saw a fight ending. Intrigued she cut through the alleyway to the other side to find a giant fighting an elf. An Ice battlemage at that. From what it looked like the giant that the elf was facing lost. Feeling a little sad that she had missed the majority of the battle she watched in anticipation to see if she was going to see anymore.

The Elf had finally pulled his head out of the ground now. He turned and stamped his foot, pointing at the giant. "How dare you! My perfect face!" The Elf screamed and grabbed his now dirty face. Dero shrugged and hoisted the axe onto his shoulder. "You done?" The elf glared at him and sent a small bolt of ice at his chest. Needless to say, the weak attack merely bounced off his chest, leaving a tiny mark. Dero chuckled to himself before swinging the axe in a wide arc in front of him, sending the Elf flying as his health drained away and he was warped to the Rebirth Point, one level less. The crowd cheered and laughed, embaressing the elf and praising the Giant, who's face was coming back to him now.

Crystafare was beginning to lose interest, but then her interest was peaked again when she saw that the elf was coming back for more. There was a flurry of movement that sent her head spinning, and then there was riotous cheers for the giant had defeated the elf. Usually she tended to stay out of these kinds of things and ignore them. However, this time was apparently different for she soon found herself cheering for the giant as well as the elf warped to the Rebirth Point because he lost all of his HP.

Dero grinned, as he finally could, and hoisted the axe above his head. "YEEEAH!" He let out a great roar and everyone got even louder. People clapped and laughed and all around it was a good time. The onlookers closed in to examine the massive competitor, who, despite being just a level five, had just massacred a level 12 elf. People patted him and offered to buy him drinks, some attempting to drag him around, but he simply sat there and enjoyed the attention. Honestly, he had no idea what he was up against. Dero was still new to the game, he did not know how to check the statistics of another player, he knew no one, and he had been using the newbie gear up until a King Frost Wolf had dropped his new axe. It was nice.

With the duel over and won Crystafare went back to her original task at hand and went to a nearby potion shop on the street. Going into the potion shop she bought what she needed. "Since when did these potions cost so much?" she pondered to herself. "At this rate, I won't be making any form of profit for repairs on my equipment or any money for future weapon/armor upgrades." Looking to the new giant champion, Dero she checked his stats. So he is a level 5 still in some of his newbie gear. Feeling obligated to help him, since that was why she decided she wanted to be of the healer class in the first place she opened a trade window with Dero. "I wonder if he is going to accept it the trade."

Dero stopped as a surprise trade window opened up. "Ehhh?" The Giant stared for a few moments, checking the name on the trade window. He sighed and whispered this Crystafare person. "I'm sorry, I'm only level five and I just started. I don't have anything to give you. That duel was complete luck!" At least he had figured out how to check his own stats. He sighed again and was about to close the trade window.

Crystafare waited patiently for a response to the trade when she received a whisper from Dero saying," "I'm sorry, I'm only level five and I just started. I don't have anything to give you. That duel was complete luck!" She put the potions that she had just bought into the trade window, and whispered him," Don't worry about it. We were all at this level at one point in time. Take it, seriously, I insist. Also if you ever need help with healing or anything don't hesitate to send me a whisper." She then added him to her friends list.

Dero sighed again and accepted the trade, feeling the weight of the potions sink into his pack. "Thanks..." He whispered back. Dero made sure to remember the name. "Crystafare... Eh?" He thought to himself and began to walk forward, completely ignoring the crowd again. He stopped suddenly. "Oh! I completely forgot." He turned around and thought for a moment. "Er... Wait... She said if I needed help with healing.. Right? Guess that means she wouldn't want to train with me.." Dero had no idea that he was still whispering Crystafare. "Huuuh... Too bad. I could really use some help in learning this damn game!"

The trade window closed as the transaction was complete. Crystafare was about to go and buy more potions to continue some of her gathering quests. She suddenly got a whisper again from Dero that said," She said if I needed help with healing.. Right? Guess that means she wouldn't want to train with me.." Chuckling to herself a little she sent back," You know you're still talking to me right. Do you need help training?"

Dero nearly fell backwards as he got a return whisper, he realized he had been whispering her this entire time. "I.. Uh.. Sorry..." His axe had been placed back onto his back and he was now scratching the back of his giant, muscular neck. "I do kind of need help... But I think training's okay. Just grinding, aye?" He was out of the crowded street now and into a much more open street. He sat down on the curb and sighed. "I'm honestly not sure what to do in this game. I might have chosen the wrong class..."

((Going to go and watch Gone with the Wind with my Dad after this. Will respond when done))

Walking back over to Dero Crytstafare sat next to him and gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Like I said, we all had to start from being a newbie with little to no experience. It happens to the best of us, and with practice you will be great," said Crystafare. "Yes, we are going to go grinding around until you are okay with all of your skills and what not. You also can complete some quests with me, and such in the neighboring towns. As for your class, warriors are pretty hard to learn seriously. They are the powerhouses of the game, and with that comes the knowledge of great control over your character. Due to the lack of your speed, you have to rely on teammates support to help you keep the enemy busy while you are charge your attacks. You will also rely heavier on enchants for speed and haste. Healers, while not being physically strong, can provide a large array of buffs and enchants that can boost speed and reaction time." Hopefully Dero understood everything, she didn't want to have to repeat herself. "Come on lets go. I'll take you to my favorite place."

((This RP reminds me a lot of the .hack series and World of Warcraft [WoW]))

((Actually she based it off 1/2 Prince. Which, in turn, is based off .hack. And WOW is based off both of them xDD And have fun.))

Dero sighed and stood up, shrugging a bit. "Alright... I mean, I'm not new to roleplaying games, but I've NEVER played a Warrior before!" He pulled the axe off his back and rested the staff on the ground like a walking stick. "I'm usually an attack-type mage." He waved his free around like he was casting a spell, but it looked odd on the Giant. "My friend told me this was way better! 'Yeah! The axe is just like attacking with a staff, but with more damage!' Tch!" He sighed again and slammed the staff of the axe into the ground, causing a loud boom and leaving an indent in the ground. "Sorry... Anyway. We should get to your spot."

((lol yeah i've only ever seen 1/2 prince, which i love 'cause it's hilarious XD
BTW, i'm out of town and my current internet kinda sucks, so I won't put the virus in place until at least sunday, just fyi. So, until then, continue kicking ass and if you know anyone who would be interestd in this, send 'em my way!))

Feng watched the fight and laughed and cheered with the rest of the crowd. At the end, she pulled up the player stats and was suprised that the elf was a twelve and the giant a five. "Wonder how he made it to a twelve, the dumbass," She thought, shaking her head. "Especially with that ego. Oh well, the better man won," she thought, and then jumped down from the roof to continue shopping. She waved at a few people she knew, winked at a particularly cute guy she had been flirting with for the past few days, and bought a few more potions. "And with that, I'm broke," she muttered. "Looks like I should go fight some more," she said, a wolfish grin spreading across her face.

Fang almost yawned, slightly bored as he finished killing off a monster. His blue hair was a little messy from the fighting, and he was scratched up on his arm from a bite the thing had given. Surprise attack. He wrapped it up quickly before moving to the loot that had showed up. He had gone to outside the borders of the Western city for a little change of scenery and some better monsters. He smirked as he picked up the loot. A couple of silver coins. Too bad the thing hadn't been a better level. He still had a couple of potions left, but he wanted to go and pick up some more supplies and get some better weapons.

He would be going to one of the high level towers later, and that would require a lot more items if he wanted to make it to the end. He warped out of the city, to the Eastern City. The prices there were much more fair to him. And, they had the supplies he needed without all the hustle and bustle of the western city. He looked around and raised an eyebrow as he heard some sort of talk about a giant or something defeating an elf. He shrugged, going to one of the shops and looking around to buy some healing potions.

( I love 1/2 Prince. <3 Meat-Bun's awesome. XD His giant fermentation thing was great. <3 )

ShadowedDesires sighed a little as she made her way into the Eastern City, she needed a little bit more money to get that new equip she wanted. She was a noob but she was a very knowledgeable one. She had played games like this before so most of the lay out for it was totally cool with her. Now if only she could stand to wait to level up. She knew that she could be pretty impatient when it came to that. She passed by some people talking about a fight between a Giant and an Elf... She figured that it had to have been a pretty entertaining fight for people to still be talking about it. What was she going to do? She could go check if there were any low level hits at the inn, bar or even maybe the church.

She needed a few potions but not too many, she tended to let herself rest if she didn't want to wait for any potions or anything. She then saw the Giant that had been mentioned earlier. Wholly cow the dude was huge! She knew they were supposed to be big but gosh! She felt knee high to an ant when she passed by him. He was talking to a Healer, which would be pretty useful in the long run. Maybe she should find a healer and go to a low level dungeon. She needed all the exp she could get to level. Maybe she should send her a whisper? She stood there debating for a little while, she didn't know what to do, it was rude to interrupt but it was also a good thing to have someone on her side if she needed them. She sighed and then decided to try it what did she have to lose?

She opened a little chat window to Cyrstafare and typed, "Um excuse me?"

(It would have something like a church right? Or would it be in a specific city? --; I've never seen 1/2 Prince, but I used to watch .hack the original... made me cry alot...)

((Apparently there are other night owl people that don't sleep much either, lol))

"Sorry... Anyway. We should get to your spot." Hearing that Crystafare took off into the air and hovered for a few moments, and dusted off her clothes before landing on the ground. "Alrighty then," she said. "Let's go." She was about to walk off in the direction of the travel portal when she got a whisper from a person named ShadowdDesires that said,"Um excuse me?" Stopping Crystafare responded with," Yes, what's up?"
