Disgaea is a tactical game like Final Fantasy Tactics that really requires some strategic planning and lots of patience coupled with lot's of willing time of grinding over and over some above level one thousand.
The story is rather slap stick, and tongue and cheek. The main character is a demon overlord's son named Laharl, whose father choked to death on a black pretzel. He is also half human since his mother was human. At the beginning in the Netherworld his suppossedly most trusted servant Etna (who tries to kill him at the beginning) are on a big quest to become the overlord of the entire netherworld. A young angel trainee Flonne is ordered to go down to the netherworld and assinate Laharl's father, but when she finds out he's already dead, she's confused as to what to do. Laharl goes after her not understanding what she is doing now. They all become allies and end up in several episdes of Laharl prooving his lordship over all who oppose him in the netherworld including humans and then angels? Flonne can't believe it so she and Laharl with Etna, and a few other characters are on their way back to Celestia to figure out why Master Lamington(the main head angel over Celestia) ordered the angels to attack.

The game is hours of fun and if you like anime, it's a must have, but also if you like strategy tactical fantasy games it is lots of fun.So by all means if you come across this game check it out.

I've heard about it, I've seen it all over PS network, and I have no idea whether or not its worth buying. It seems fun, the art for the game seems awesome but I dunno - maybe I'll look into it again when d.l new games on my psp go.

I just realized that they have this game on the PSP which was odd, I don't know if they have more content than the one that is on the Play station two. If you like tactical games than I must say that it is worthwhile and the story is just absolutely hillarious! Watch some videos of it on youtube, I'm sure you will see if is your kind of game.

Also there is a second installment and a third installment in the series. They are both just as good and require just as much time for the grinding slash aka leveling up countless characters. Yea, it's that type of game lol. It's not for the feint of heart if you know what I mean lol. I'm currently playing Disgaea II Cursed Memories. The game versions for the playstation two shouldn't cost too much, but there for awhile it was a well sought after game and was quite expensive. I guess some new games have come out since then to warrant the price to fall some I guess.

I've played the game, and I really enjoy it!!

The problem is I always create too many characters, so it takes awhile to go from level to level. However, the main characters make it enjoyable. I'm a fan of the silly banter between Etna, Fiona, and Laharl. (The penguins are a bonus, too.) :)

I'm like you, I create way too many characters trying to level them all up and it just ends up taking forever. The story line is funny and really emotional at the end. I think Laharl saw Flonne as his mother and maybe even had feelings for her. He was willing to give his entire demonic existence to save her, the whole time the rage he was feeling towards Master Lammington was his anger wanting not to be separated from Flonne.
