Plurk is yet another social networking community site thingy. I know, we need another one of those like a hole in the head, but I thought this one was pretty interesting. It's sort of like twitter and facebook frankenstein monster. You enter short messages proceeded by a preselected list of verbs like "Forchancookie loves/wishes/needs/says/wonders ____." Then your plurk goes on a timeline. You can scroll through the timeline and see past posts from yourself and your friends. You can also post pictures, videos and links with the Shares option.

Unlike twitter, but similar to facebook, replies to your plurks are grouped in with your original message so there's no one-sided conversations. It also has a sort of instant messaging feel if you and your friends are on at the same time. Conversation back and forth can be quite rapid fire. It also makes a noise when a friend updates their plurk, so no switching over to the window every ten minutes to see if someone's updated. You know when they do because you hear it.

I've only had mine for a day and so far it's pretty fun. It was a little wonky at first, but I like it more than Twitter. But that's easy, because I hate Twitter ^_^;; The timeline layout makes for some interesting layout options. There's a lot of sites with templates, but I spent a few hours tweaking my own layout. Yes, hours, I'm not so hot with CSS. x_X

Anyway, does anyone else have one or has poked around the site? Thoughts?

This is the first time I've heard of this site. I'm not really big into social networking sites. I only joined facebook because my position required me to do so to post updates for them. I've never had a twitter account.

I think mostly because I view those sites as things people do on there Cells phone while on the bus or waiting for people. i don't have a cell phone so I don't really see the interest in those sites. The reason I like chatting on mene/avatar sites is because it's to dress up my doll. :)

I only heard about it a few days ago, but judging by all the templates people have created for it, it's been around and popular in other places for a while. I only got a Facebook because of peer pressure :sweat: Twitter is just annoying. All those one sided conversations. It drives me nuts.

But yes, cell phones definitely have something to do with it. All those people updating their twitter and facebook every five seconds with irrelevant stuff. We really don't care if you're in the line at Starbucks!

On Plurk, I only have two friends that I don't normally talk to and we're all updating from our computers and chatting a bit more than usual, so that's nice. :)

I've heard of Plurk before, but never checked it out or known exactly what it entails. It sounds kind of interesting, though. It's a shame that I don't know anyone else on it, or I would consider using it.

I'm not really into social networking sets but that site does look kind of cute ; though I don't plan on signing up for it anytime x'D

I love it! <3 Its like facebook only ALOT easier and less confusing for me :P Plus you can make it your own with different colors and such <3<3<3

Plurk is pretty much the only reason my facebook gets updated these days :rofl:

I have a cute Tare panda layout that I spent far too long making.

I use it for like my online notice board now XDD
I put it as my homepage then put notes on it about homework and random nonsense :P
