Usually, as if it's dry there's nowhere to breed/lay eggs. But you can assist in reducing their population by not having stagnant water out. Replacing pet water often, etc.

They're colorful, and they don't tend to bite. I'd say that's a win in my book. Praying Mantis are cool too.

I prefer butterflies. They don't scare me as much. Most of the scare with them is suddenly seeing something flying by.
