My parents have long-haired dachshunds who are alternately unhappy while being brushed and unhappy when their luscious locks are full of snarls and twigs. Our husky sheds her undercoat twice a year - and there is enough fur for at least 2-3 largish dogs. I feel like we need to start a Hairclub for dogs and use her fur for donations.

I kinda overheated the vacuum because the hair was clogging the main tube. We had to take a broom handle to shove it out the other end, and wound up with a foot-long clog. That was after we were able to pull that much out of the tube before resorting to the broom handle and what the canister picked up. We even brush her regularly - when she will sit still long enough! My mom suggested sending it to her so she could card and spin it, then turn it into yarn. My family is not exactly typical.

Oh gosh. When a husky blows its coat, it is a TERRIBLE thing to behold. SO MUCH HAIR!

Oh, and I'm doing an art a day challenge. I made a siren for "something from the ocean" for today. I'm kind of really happy about how it turned out.

We have an upright vacuum canister type of beast and I had to unload the canister 3 times in the room she hung out in because people kept plucking her and dropping fur everywhere. My husband, the main perpetrator, shuffled off to bed because he works nights while I vacuumed. Let's just say he was not happy to deal with the hose. Or me bellowing about the burning odor from the vacuum because of the hair on the floor - following his de-furr-i-fication of the dog. LOL!

Hahaha, I can only imagine. I've worked kennels during shedding season and the ones with huskies were always a bitch to get clean. I don't think I could handle it in a pet.

Oh, girl... you have my sympathies!!

Her personality is very small happy dog. In a 40lb body. When she's outside, she stays in her huge kennel since she is very prone to running and we discovered this after having her out on one of those plastic-coated wire runners. She'd slip out of her collar and even broke through two harnesses. Fortunately, she didn't get too far. A friend who trains dogs and raised border collies told me huskies are among the least loyal dogs to their owners. I am finding this to be true since she tends to jump on people to kiss and sit on them when they visit and seldom barks. I think a chihuahua would have been a better security system!!

Interesting. Most vets would tell you that huskies are single person dogs. But they're a primitive type dog (closer to a natural wolf), so they really do prefer to take orders from other dogs and not humans.
But they're sweet and gorgeous and hard to resist. And their singing cracks me up (when not in a kennel that echoes, of course).

We'd love to get a friend for her, but with our living situation being so bizarre, I will just be happy to wait until we know for sure. Their singing is awesome!! She also talks to us, and we had no idea huskies did this when we found her at our local animal shelter. I wanted a little dog, similar to yours Steel, but I was outvoted. Otto sat in front of her kennel and said "THIS is MY dog" and she agreed, so she came home with us!

Haha, well, you can't argue with that. I've picked out every animal this family has had.

Come to think of it, I've seldom selected our pets. Yes, I'm usually the one who takes care of them most of the time, but the kids find some very charming pets. Our cats just showed up here. One walked in our front door and said "I'm home!" and I think he encouraged the other two to stay.

Are you still involved with dancing or is that off season for now?

I'm the pet whisperer.
I had to take a two week break during the end of school insanity.
But I started back up today. I'm a hurting unit.

Okay, updates on the egg prizes.

It is taking a while, but I'm slowly but surely getting the golds up to buy the items that are going in each eggie! Please bear with me; stuff will be in them and they'll be revealed, even if it takes a century and a half.

I would be terribly happy for any Joss Whedon show to come out. Haha. I'm a little bit of a Joss fanatic.
