There are WAY worse ways to ruin childhood memories....I'm thinking of Technoman anime...I ruined it by rewatching the first episode as a teenager...

Technoman had a deep plot ,from memory...but I watched it when I was very young, at an age where I could not fully comprehend the story...and over the years because I had n't even looked at pictures from the anime since my very fond memories of the anime were skewed and twisted to the point where the visuals of it as it actually is, were far superior in my mind compared to the reality.

So when I rewatched the first episode of the anime many years down the track, I could not get over how retro and old style the art style was and thus could not appreciate the plot because the disappointment from the animation was too distracting.

That seems to happen a lot with old animes we watched when we were kids. I'm halfway afraid of what would happen if I rewatched Digimon now.

I grew up on vintage technology so poor graphics doesn't bother me at all.
I played games with graphics that rivaled pong

I grew up in the 90s...if I were still a gamer I'd happily play the original Mario on the original Nintendo console or Donkey Kong on that orange handheld thing back in the days before gameboy...when one handheld gaming device only had one game.

The thing was that unlike the 00s where the internet was easily accessible to look up images/pictures or screenshots from anime, when I watched Technoman I was probably about seven or eight years old and I watched it when it screened on TV...and because it was not a popular anime/cartoon among children my age it was one I only discussed with my older brother who I watched it with. And most of our discussions was him explaining what happened.

There were no posters, toys or merchandise relating to Technoman...ever ...throughout my life and that is how my mind altered the imagery of it as I got more exposure to modern anime and manga along with my vague memories of the plot...

So now, in order to maintain the good memories of the story itself I must not rewatch anymore of it.

---

Slightly off topic...I liked the Digimon anime...my peers said it was an imitation of Pokemon but I thought the plot in the first 4 seasons that I watched were way more interesting than Ash Ketchum's neverending quest to be a pokemon master.
