A 'bump' button. I've seen other sites with them. So if a thread falls off the front page of a forum it can be nudged right back up. :x Without double or triple posting to keep it up.

I disagree. If you posted last, 5 hours ago (or more), you can post again without it being 'double posting' or necroing. A Bump button would just lead to chaos and abuse...

I don't like this idea very much. I think it would get abused too much, and the actual good and creative threads would not get noticed.

I don't think it would be a bad idea for forums like the exchange or quest. It wouldn't be an extra post, so no extra gold and no actual spamming. Just lets people know you're still buying/selling and returns it to the top of the first page. Preferably something that can only be used for threads that are no longer on the first page.

I think it would be nice to implement this with a timer. So that we're allowed to push it once every five hours or whatever time limit is thought reasonable.

I agree that it would be nice for places like the quests or exchange especially since people tend to use the exchange as more of a hang out and people that just made threads or have few people posting in their thread tend to go unnoticed.

Would people actually bother looking in a "bumped" thread that had no new posts though? I don't think that I would.

In the exchange yes, because they would mean they have new stock, or are now buying something else.
Or are still buying and o hay I just remembered they are buying x item that I'm selling so.

In nations and the GD, yes. Because maybe I hadn't gotten to read the previous posts in the thread anyway, because maybe I'd never even seen the thread before.

We don't want to be so strict that you can't even revive your own threads with a post. It's not really that spammy, and any gold you get isn't ill-gotten. Could you better explain the problem you see with posting to revive threads?

I would. If I wander into the exchange looking for a June 10 CI set, I'm just looking at which immediately visible threads have June 10 CI sets. I don't care which threads have been posted in recently.

If you're bumping because you have new stuff, then all you do is post about how you have new stuff.

I do it all the time in my exchange thread.

And by all the time, I mean, whenever I get new stuff. As it is now, it's perfectly within the rules to do, and doesn't require a bump button.

I don't think it means new stuff, I think it's when you've had stuff for awhile, it hasn't sold yet, and no one has posted.

Then using the same method, just bring the thread up with a "Still selling!" or something to that effect.

Ooooh, and I'd like to be able to bump my thread in the role play forum.
But there's really NO WAY that I can bump it up, without spamming because no one has even joined yet!!! :(

I agree with the timed button... or heck... a timer in general to count down how much longer till you can repost

I mean personally as a former major thread killer... it was really annoying when my quest thread had 6 posts in a row... ALL me

In the quests or exchange forum, this might not be too bad. I don't see adding it otherwise, however.

Hmm, I can see it being useful in the RP forum, but not really necessary anywhere else.

I agree that it's not really necessary. But it's not a bad idea. I figured it was worth defending.

@ Jelly - Try looking at how many times my quest thread died =.= you might just change your mind... I've had threads drop off the front page within minutes before... and having to repost feels pointless

In regards to necessary... the dice... MAC... shop preview... just because it isn't necessary doesn't mean you can't spoil us with it XD

Yeah but...a quest thread isn't quite the same as an exchange thread where trade is actively going on, or an RP with an active story, is it?

I'm not sure that I can verbalise what I'm thinking here, but I can't see quest threads needing a bump button, that's all.

Nevermind......ignore my post lol, totally irrelevant.

EDIT: I do think a bump button would be useful in the exchange.

The Wandering Poet - This isn't completely relevant to the discussion at hand, but have you tried linking to your quest in your signature, or asking your friends in other threads to pop over and chat with you there? I don't think people just browse the quests forum as much as they do other ones, so it can be difficult to get people to join you in a chat, I agree. Then it's all about strategic advertising.
