The quality really isn't that bad. :/

I just don't like how it box outlines the images in the pictures, makes syra's work look sloppy compared to the adobe files.

Well, what are you guys using to make the articles?

I use Adobe Illustrator, and then transfer everything into a PDF format with Adobe Acrobat

I have not worked in that much. Really need to get my friend to put it back on my laptop, along with the entire adobe suite. >.< I LOVE lightroom. I could ask her about that. She is a graphic design major and is pretty good with all those programs.

I personally would have used, despite the winces I get from it, Microsoft Publisher or word. But only because I do not really have any need to for graphic design programs :/

I spent the last year in a '2 year course crammed in one' Graphic Design and New Media course. If it deals with design I've played with it.

See not only do I use it for the paper, but my mom owns her own business so I make posters and business cards. I designed her website. It's what I do.

Yea I'm lucky to have syra, she not only does the design but even adds her own horoscope column.

Just finished reading the paper! 8D The first page didn't take to me all that much this time but everything else was pretty interesting. May I just mention that I remembered that my friends invited me to a frisbee game when I read the horoscope (I'm a dragon)? xD I really enjoyed reading the Guinea Pig section. I do hope lavida can find a cure for the storm. xDD

The gossip column needs a little work I think. Just the grammar part. Just some small things like run on sentences and forgotten capitalization.

And the rant! I can totally relate. People who are above the obese scale of one to ten annoy me like there's no tomorrow. I know there are those that have a condition that makes them gain weight (I understand that) but for those those that don't...come on. More than half of the world is starving and they're stuffing their faces full of food (mostly unhealthy food at that) AND complaining about it. Ugh... ~_~

I just know my friend sometimes complains about the converting. She just designed her bf a faceplate and when she transferred the image, it brought some of the hidden stuff to the front. x.x

But it is cool. ^^ I am happy people can do this on the site. The Herald is a lovely addition.

@Pacific: I didn't have anything really worth writing about other than that first page headline, as it is at this rate i'm gonna have to do some digging to find something for this week, it's already sunday and nothing good has showed up yet.

One thing in the gossip thing..wth is this about a certain newpaper owner NOT getting enough loving? I don't know if I should take some insult to that or not. What do you think Gary? As far as the rant goes its starting to become one of my favorite articles to read even though YES! I have heard his rant and WAAAAAY before he even prints it much less writes it and YES! his mom actually gets a kick out of them also.

Well I've been thinking about it for a bit now and i've decided that this weeks paper is going to be postponed for exactly one week.
Some of my staff need a recharge and that's really all the explanation I feel like giving.

If any of the columnist have work done, go ahead and send it in to the appropriate person and it will be added to the next paper.

I guess I kinda felt sad reading the rant a little bit because of my mom. She was one of those obese people in a motorized cart at stores, but she became obese after being disabled first. She had major back surgeries, then became overweight from not being able to get around. I'm not upset by the rant though, just made me think about it...

Ooh, that new article sounds like it'll be interesting! I don't mind having a break though. I'm starting to have trouble deciding what hang-out to do next!

yeah, trying to get through last sundays gave me some issues. Especially since this today was the Grand Opening for my moms business. *sigh*

yes. Very greatful for the week off from the paper. But the Grand Opening is going amazingly! After 5 hours of constant people it's finally starting to slow down.
