The Compulsive 90s Pop Star Band Thread!

(this needs to be reconstructed to include ALL 90s popstar groups)

Admit it. You were, at one point, especially if you're a girl, in love with a certain boy band, and/or you were a follower of the 90s bubblegum pop music culture. I certainly was, and still am.

For those of you who know me well, I'm probably the biggest Backstreet Boys fan on here. But that doesn't mean I'm one-dimensional. Not at all. There were so many boy bands out there and it's like, "where the heck did they all come from?" Fans of this genre were hearing these songs on the radio ten years ago and even further back, say about, seventeen years (trivia: when the Backstreet Boys were formed).

Around the middle of the 1990s decade, a slew of singers and other bands popped up during this era. From Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, to Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson (waaaaay before Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift) -- oh wait, wrong thread, this isn't the 90s female singers room! Well, you get the picture, right?

These artists were part of the equation that defined pop culture that came before the music we heard today.

Will I let it die out? Hell, no! These songs are always still fun to listen to! Don't you remember the MTV VMA's some years ago when *N Sync's "Pop" was performed and Michael Jackson had his own dance session with them onstage? Or when LFO started singing about New Kids On The Block and promoting Abercrombie & Fitch. Seriously have you heard of A&F before then? People today wear A&F and Hollister, but don't you remember the days of Fun Dip and Cherry Coke?

Come on, it's gotta bring back some good memories right?

Or the classic Hanson, with "MMMBOP" as their top single? Yeah, all of the guys in these bands are all grown up now, leading different lives. They're either together or they've split up, but their music still lives on in YouTube, iTunes, Rhapsody, and heck, I even catch a few of these on Pandora.com!

Wasn't Jesse McCartney part of Dream Street or something? And look where he is now? All sexy and whatnot, hah! But no, his album (and I'm referring to Departure because that's the only one I have) is pretty catchy and I don't mind jamming to it in the car.

I will seriously blast these oldschool CDs in my car every chance I get. I don't care if I'm annoying the people around me. It's time to bring back some good music!

P.S. Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block are planning an upcoming tour together. Whatchu know about that?

Remember, this is a 90'S POPSTAR BAND THREAD. So don't come up here askin' for Justin Bieber to be listed, Jonas Brothers, 3OH3, Gym Class Heroes (although I love GCH), etc. I don't wanna hear about that here.

tl;dr - Boy Bands still f-ing rock. WHO'S WITH ME?!

I am not afraid to admit it, I really like Backstreet Boys. I like a lot of their songs. They're pretty. My little brother used to be obsessed with them, so we saw a Backstreet Boys concert in the New Orleans SuperDome years and years ago.

I also love Boyzone. Not so fond of Take That, but I love Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow individually.

Anyway, Hanson put out some good stuff. I was surprised when I went back to listen and realize how good some of that stuff was. And their new stuff is catchy!

I was absentmindedly singing "MMMBOP" earlier while I was talking to my BFF earlier tonight.

Ok seriously, I'm going nightnight now. Because if I don't, I'm gonna be talking about BSB nonstop and then where would I be?

I remember they were suppose to have a secret show in Vegas and I got all excited so I went to this place because they said they're giving away tickets but no one was there.

ROFLMAO you bought it too? I still have it but it's not Vista compatible. XP on the other hand...

Anyway I wanna see if other people still listen to boy bands. I was listening to NSync's original CD in the car today for a change.

I always found it kind of funny that touring Europe was the thing for Boybands to do. Like they were more accepted over there, so they'd do Europe first and then make a splash in the US after they'd gotten some hits in their pockets.

Yeah I noticed that too. For BSB it's because their Europop-influenced "flavor" wasn't widely accepted into the U.S. yet. And then French people spoke with Canadian people and gossiped about the music, which eventually leaked downwards into the U.S. And there you have it : )

Sorry to hear your birthday wasn't productive! D:

I absolutely love boy bands. I don't care what anyone says, their music is amazing, their voices are amazing and their lyrics are amazing. AMAZING!!!! I feel young again whenever I listen to these types of songs. It takes me back to the day where I had a Justin Timberlake marionette and a little bookbag full of Backstreet Boys items, and also a whole 98 Degree's board game. I miss those things to death xD Boy bands = awesome <3

Aww noooo I hate when that happens. I lost a LOT of stuff in the past two moves over the years : ( Totally hate it!

I still have my Victoria doll and her dress, but they got separated. Some other Barbie doll is wearing her dress, but Victoria herself is somewhere in the garage, last I checked.

Aww xD I never really had Barbie dolls. I had Bratz. Those things were awesome lol The only doll I have is a porcelain, my memaw gave her to me when I was two so I could never let that go no matter what! That and a bible my memaw gave me are the only things I have left of my childhood pretty much lol

OMG my favorite song off that album is "I Drive Myself Crazy"

Seriously I will LOOP that thing driving to school or back, listen to it all the way home. Same with "I'll Never Break Your Heart" if I have BSB in my CD player (which is basically all the time).

Hahaha, gosh I'm glad I found this thread, this is bringing back so much! :D You should make like a weekly playlist or something with a song from each of the bands :o
