Pearl: xDDD

The same prof would purposely emphasize the word "breasts" and go out of his way to point them out in a lecture (at this point, I ought to mention that this was Art History, and there was quite a bit of nudity in... everything, honestly). I don't know if he did it to make us may attention or if he got off from saying "breasts" in public.

He did seem very bemused by the whole thing.

Everything about Sachsgate was stupid, the act itself, as well as all the debates and anger afterwards.

HIM had a moment and wondered why Russel Brand was in a homeless shelter.

Yes, I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion.

I had a feeling it was an art history prof, Hyena xD

That's quite awesome.

I turned the TV on, then moved out of the room to fetch something, and as soon as I heard the TV come on I realised it was an episode of Red Dwarf, and I knew exactly which part of which episode xD

Or maybe it was lame?
Yeah, lame.

I'm lame. ):

I could see that happening.
I shouldn't talk like a gossip-monger :x

Psh. Gossip-mongering is both expected and accepted. :talk2hand: Don't act like others don't do it! :illgetu:

I was just talking to a friend from high school last night about how I feel bad about talking about all of these people from school... But we agreed that they deserved it, especially since they all did the same crap. It's a high school mentality, I tells ya, and it never stops after high school!

I'm watching classic Dwarf on TV - Gunmen of the Apocalypse, series 6.

Nice. Very nice indeed. Now that I've got Blackadder, Red Dwarf is the next acquisition on my list. Do they have a boxset out yet? Preferably with the Dave production included?

You're telling me! :P

I had a downright terrible high school experience I'll never go back to that hovel willingly, and I'll only be able to talk to two or three people from that place without concealed resentment. But yeah... I'm oddly interested in going to reunions and seeing who has ten kids, craptastic significant others, and no sense of their former self. :ninja: I'm sadistic!

Gossiping about people is how I figure out where I stand on an issue, honestly. Like... this guy that tried to evangelize at me. I talk about him so that I can figure out a worst-case scenario. Considering how bad it could have been, it wasn't really all that offensive until he said that my homosexuality was a direct result of being a heathen... but I didn't really know where I stood on the issue until I talked about him and verbalized my way through what bothered me.

Gossip is good for you. Also, brings a good catharsis.

@ Bigsy - the Dwarf DVDs are great, and have been very cheap for a while. Back to Earth was released ages ago too.

Amazon has all 8 series for £22. (Not including BTE)
Red Dwarf - Just The Shows [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Andy DeEmmony, Norman Lovett, Robert Llewellyn, Craig Charles, Ed Bye: DVD

@ Facade - it's a bit different in England, secondary school is ages 11-18 (years 7 to 13), so I was in the same place for 7 years.
Year 7 was good, year 8 was bad, year 9 was alright, years 10 & 11 were confusing and stressful (exam years), and years 12 & 13 were a big improvement because of the move up to 6th form. (It's complicated... xD)

I couldn't imagine being in the same place for seven years. :insane: A school environment, I mean. :P

And Hyena, I couldn't agree more. Gossiping is very cathartic... Helps to vocalize where you stand on an issue, especially when said issue involves those around you. And group analysis sometimes brings better insight than just stewing over an issue in your own head... Hell, I'm willing to bet it always brings better insight. :ninja:

It's all about gossiping properly (and not pettily), and with the right people. :P

Those are region two discs, yeah? Not that that's really a problem, because I have a region free dvd player, but if I wanted to take them with me somewhere....

@ Bigsy - I dunno, it's up to you what region you want to get. I think they probably offer region 1 DVDs, but they might cost more.

Honestly, I don't think I really have a proper stance on something until I encounter someone with an opinion that greatly opposes mine. For example, when a friend of mine left us high and dry I gossiped relentlessly about him and his girlfriend breaking up. (It was a violent breakup. It was pretty fitting, actually). Up until then, I was all about 'forgive and forget,' but that changed pretty fast. We've since made up, but there was a good six months where I was pretty vindictive about his relationship... and it helped me realize that my previous attitude, while probably morally right, was not NEARLY as healthy. Having gotten it out of my system, when I went to meet him I didn't feel like I wanted to punch him in the face.

Though, he was pretty scared that I would slash his tires...

I only really think gossip is a terrible thing if you're spreading lies, half-truths, or secrets. But if you're saying something that isn't a secret or your personal opinion... *shrug* Just make sure you don't say anything you'd regret. Plus, like has already been stated, it helps you work through your feelings. I'm much less bothered by the people who were jerks to me now because I've gotten a lot of the hurt and anger out of my system rather than keeping to myself and stewing. I don't know, would that even count as gossiping? I never completely understood the whole "anything regarding someone else is gossip and all gossip is bad" thing. I'm socially awesome.

Well, a rant can easily turn into gossip, whether it was intended or not. That, and a lot of times the subject of my gossip would post something on facebook that would just make me laugh because it was kind of pathetic. >>

But what I was suggesting was painting someone in a less that stellar light. Someone I don't know, or have much information on. And therefore, it's not right to comment in such a manner.

Good point. ^^

Admittedly, I do gossip quite a bit at work, but its mostly centric around one person and its usually only after I've conferred with other people.

And everyone KNOWS I hate the second shift supervisor. They take what I say pretty lightly.

Yes, when I talk about someone I know behind their back, I consider it 'conferring'. And that's alright
