Her name was Rabbie and she was infinitely better. I'd take pictures, but I'm lazy and she's camera shy.

I had to stop playing with Robbie when he ate my friend.
Now I only do his bidding.

it's so irritatingly infantile.

okay, so guys, have you guys seen last year's production of Great Expectations (only now being shown in the states)? I've only seen the first part, but I want to talk about it. Tiny bit spoilery? I don't mind so much that they collapsed parts of the plot and left out some characters (Except Biddy. YOU DO NOT LEAVE BIDDY OUT. YOU DO NOT) and other small changes like that. There are some issues with the characterizations though. I more or less quite enjoy this Miss Havisham, in some ways she's more the Havisham I always thought she should be (I think Dickens could have done a bit more with her, you know? But we can't be too hard on him, after all he originated that type of character when he created her) And I think I'm going to enjoy Jaggers, but some of the others... man. I don't understand why you would make young Herbert a jerk, I can't see the benefits of character development going that route. And Estella seems too symathetic. If it was just at first, I could absolutely get behind it, it would make the transition to cold-hearted snake more engaging, but she's still got too much awareness of human compassion when she's about to leave for Paris. After that point, she will not feel Havisham's influence as much, and it's Havisham who makes her what she is. How can you have a remorseful Havisham if the destroyed Estella isn't her creature? Mrs Joe isn't pleasant, of course, but she's not as bad as she should be in this production. Telling Pip she's proud of him? That would never have happened. And I'm very put off by the fact that Joe is at least twice as bright as he is in the novel.

I enjoyed it, never read the book.
I've read most of Bleak House (500/800 pages)... didn't have the time to finish it due to other schoolwork, but I thought the BBC adaptation was better than the book xD
It's just so long and unwieldy.
Dickens is all about the characters, and the characters were just so so good in the adaptation.

Welcome back, Cass.
I need to enlist the fancypantsers help. I'm having a hell of a time finding Victorian/granny boots that meet my specifications. I've been looking high and low for (the above type of) boots that are vegan/all man made materials, in my size (10 US, with great height comes great responsibility large feet) and which DO NOT have a zipper on the side (you have the laces, why would you ruin the look with a zipper?) Ideally they would be a brown or a tan, and wouldn't have a thick, patterned sole. Do any of you have any leads? Please oh please?

Hm...I'm afraid I don't know anywhere that would sell them. ;O; Have you looked on costume sites. They may have some for cosplayers.

Speaking of boots, I need to get rid of a bunch of things before I go travelling in May (one suitcase, you see) so to start with, I posted my hiking boots for sale on the university "marketplace" forum.
I've already got someone interested which is nice!
Get some cash in pocket ;D

I don't really have anything to sell except my body so I can't earn extra cash that way sadly. I need to look for an actual job.
Where are you going in May? C:

I'm going back to England after studying here, but first I'm travelling with a couple of friends.
If I was just going on one plane straight home, I'd get another suitcase.

@Pearl: Oh, fun fun. (: My friend was planning going to college in Hertfordshire. I don't think she's going to anymore though. I'd love to study in London if the tuition fees weren't extortionate. I'll stick to Edinburgh.

Aw, I'm sure that's not the case. *snug*
I need to do another year in college before I go to university. I tried this year, but I have four rejections. Just waiting to hear back from Edinburgh Uni, the most high-brow of the lot. They said I'd get a response by April 10th.
