I try not to get attached to any of the clothes I pin; it always leads to heartbreak. Like the adorable yellow flats that are no longer for sale. *sob*

You are probably right. I found some other yellow flats last night on ModCloth though, which are just as good. There is always something else.

Re: duvet cover: *screams* Idk if I could ever talk the guy into something that girly, though. But I do need to keep Society6 in mind when it comes time to buy such things. Much neater selection than a regular store.
Speaking of! The boyf and I closed on an apartment! It's blocks from the botanical garden, a library, and a charity thrift store (that supports an org dedicated to helping St. Louis neighborhoods). The bathroom is a shade of green I can only describe as "lush," and the living room is a brick red. I don't know how to decorate with that, but hopefully I'll figure something out!
The only pics I have of it right now are off Zillow. I don't want to post those, since reverse image searching them would, well, net you my new address, and I don't want that out on the 'net. But I'd gladly share the pics via PM to my friends, since I trust y'all. Just not the internet at large.

I'll have to check that out Biggles XD I get ideas that I want to sew, but then I just never get to any sewing cause little things pop up.
Chex-- I love modcloth, but I tried to order one delightful thing there and it took months for them to tell me that it was over ordered. XD So I never got what I wanted.
Cherry!! That's awesome! Congrats! (I'd totally be into pictures! ;) ) I can't wait to see what you do with the place. I bet you can tame the brick red. The neighborhood sounds amazing too. I'd be at the library (and then reading at the botanical gardens) constantly. When do you move?

Getting a library card will definitely be one of my first orders of business. Granted, I already own tons of books I haven't read yet... but man! Libraries! I went to my current local one recently just to use the printer since mine is on the fritz, and I ended up borrowing a book on chocolate cakes. Just chocolate cakes. It had so many great recipes, tips on making ganache... ugh. Great book.
Move-in date is June 13th! That's also Preston's move-out date at his current place, so he has exactly one day to get all his stuff moved. So the 13th is probably going to be focused entirely on making sure his place is cleaned out, then I can focus on getting my stuff over the next day.

That's a really lovely space! I see what you mean by a lush green too. I was thinking the brick red room would look really dark, but it's got a lot of light filtering in. I can't wait to see what you do with the space, like I said. But it's got tons of potential (even empty it's nice).
That sounds like a dangerous book. I'm the same with books. I have so many. But I've been on a kick where I read a book a day, so I need to get to the library, because I've bought way too many recently.
Wow. Well good luck! I'm sure you guys can tempt a few friends/family with the promise of pizza to help.

Here it is!
Woody - Yeah, it has so much character! so many places we saw were just beige, beige, beige. Not a hint of anything even remotely "offensive," and that in itself became offensive. I just hate beige! But the landlord certainly wasn't afraid of color, and I'm going to have fun with that. I just have no clue how to work with a warm colored wall! I'm all cool colors! I guess I'll just continue to use only cool colors in my decor and just hope it works out well.
Yeah, my parents and a UHaul van will be enlisted for the task. The guy's dad might be helping too, not sure. Hopefully we can get everything in and unpacked as quickly as possible. Moving is pretty stressful for me... bare walls, rooms empty except for boxes... it stresses me out. I can't really explain it, it just feels alien. Last time the guy moved, I stayed the night with him and, i don't get it, I just started crying. I couldn't explain it, it was just overwhelming and the walls were so bare and beige. Made him hang a poster the next day. So the quicker I can get some familiar things of mine in the place and get it feeling like home, the better.

Moving is stressful for everyone, I think.
I've moved three times in the last three months. Definitely stressful.
The cake book would have only made it worse, as I've had no way to bake a cake this whole time.
*currently lives in a house with no oven or stove*
*considers going out for cake now*

Yeah, it was a big balls-up, all around, but for now I'm semi-stable. This is the first I've even really had internet access for months, so I'm doing pretty okay, all things considered.
I've been through worse; I'm from New Orleans. I'm sort of used to riding on waves of catastrophe now, lol.

Hi, Biggles. You already know me, you just might not know it yet.
Baking with chestnuts sounds awesome! What kinds of things have you been baking with them?
I'm quite the cooking/baking fan myself, even if all I have right now is a hot plate... Well, there's a barbecue pit, too, but it's not the same. I can't bake much of anything in it.

Er mah gerd! Perderders!
True, you can always berk perderders in it, but that only gets you so far...
I'm actually considering learning how to bake bread in a barbecue fire, you know, like old-school, third-world, baked-in-the-cinders kinda bread? That would be amazing.
Cake is right out, though. Chocolate and charcoal? No way! They do NOT mix well!

Naan... I should make naan. That's decided it. Simple and good, and I can wash the charcoal off with melted butter. XD

We sell naan at my work and it's so good. Have you ever made it into a personal pizza? You must. It's so good as pizza crust.
Glad to hear things are more stable for you now!
Sent you pics, Bigs!

So, when I first saw the listing I fell in love with that bathroom. Then I saw that it said "no pets," my heart broke, and I went on to look at other places. But every bathroom was white or beige and I couldn't get the green bathroom out of my head. I had already fallen in love with that place. So then my lovely boyfriend emailed the landlord and asked if he'd make an exception for a declawed, neutered cat that never goes outside the litter box. And here we are and I get my green bathroom!

I saw that and was like "but no pets=no cherry ????" so I'm glad you got that sorted out. I can't believe the difference in real estate markets, though. Here we have a bunch of "footprint" apartments popping up. They're basically like, fancy dorm rooms. And they are considered financially frugal at $900/month.

I am the same way. I feel really anxious in an undecorated place. I can't even sleep properly. First thing I do is make sure to start putting things on the walls. First thing I did at college moving into whatever dorm room too. There's nothing to look at. O.o
Also, I'm glad you get your cat! That'd be a deal breaker for me too.

I usually don't feel settled anywhere until I've accumulated at least a modest amount of clutter, myself. I tend to make little piles of my things and sleep on them, like a dragon sleeping on a pile of treasure.
But yeah, I'd lose my mind in a place with blank beige walls, too. Things like that just naturally cry out for wall hangings and stuff, the way bread cries out for peanut butter and jelly, or ham and cheese.
Crap, now I want a sandwich...
