okay, ignoring the Christmas stuff[screams internally], much of the stuff on the next 4 or so pages (at least in mobile)
http://m.target.com/s?sortBy=newest&...accents&Nao=48 It's not comprehensive, it was an assortment of different items off the main aisle in an eye catching collection of different brands/labels.
I really loved some of those candle holders, and the stone/wood vase. I did by a vase, because I was looking for something in green glass for a seasonal arrangement, plus it was cheaper, but I can't find it on the website.

This is literally just a hunk of marble BUT I NEEEEED IITTTT.
And, oh shit, wicker animal heads. Aaah!
Neato stuff! I'll have to pop into my local store to check out the displays. Although, Ikea did just open down the street from me today.
Unrelated: Yesterday my friend was telling me something rather disturbing, so I kept replying with the good ol' soothing kittens in a barrel

As they continued to tell me of the horrors of hyena birth, I sought out a gif of Howard stapling the picture to his forehead. While I couldn't find it (eventually made a shitty one myself), I did find a lot of other Boosh gifs and, man... I miss that show. I feel like we should organize a rewatch or something. Assign a few eps and then gather back to discuss them. Or just our favorites or something.
That episode is actually my favorite. It has all you could ever want. The soothing kittens, the bit with Vince bothering Howard, rave mouse, the ponchos, a great animated sequence, and the Charlie crimp. Who even needs the rest of S1 when there's Charlie?

I talk to my friend way too fucking much, let me scroll for a few mins and find it...
I just found a clip of it on youtube and used a youtube-to-gif maker. It's imperfect because it only let you create it from one second mark to another. So it starts with a few pointless frames I couldn't edit out and ends a bit abruptly. But I only had a couple minutes to get it sorted out before it would no longer be relevant to the conversation, so it had to do.

Alright, I drug Preston along to went to Target to see the displays you were talking about! Definitely up my alley, and I saw a lot I liked. Better yet, a lot of it was on clearance! They were out of the faceted marble I had been ogling, so I opted instead for the marble house. Also picked up this neato weathered jack for a sweet $3.98. There were a couple of other pieces I was eying - mostly large vases, but there was this fabulous bookend I can't find on the website. It was a huge hunk of blue agate (?) with one rough natural side, and one front-facing cut and polished side. Absolutely beautiful, even the boyfriend loved it.
I'm going to share the vases I liked just because. This faceted stone one was very interesting, I'M ALWAYS A SLUT FOR GRAY, me + natural wood 4evr, and... I actually can't find my favorite one online! It was a dark faceted wood that I'm seriously considering going back for once I pick up a little bookcase to house my video games. I think its height would well complement the shortness of the bookcase, as well as balance the gargantuan TV and TV stand it will be next to. I actually set my jack and house on that TV stand, thinking that their oversized nature would look good on it... they're completely dwarfed. Such is the nature of 48" TVs, I guess. Might have to do some rearranging and move them to the coffee table. We'll see.

Aw yissss that's what I'm talking about. Ah, I know that bookend. They were on clearance? I'm going to have to go back. Current list of places I have to go back to: target, walgreens, daiso, West Seattle antique store, West Seattle bookshop?, uwajimaya's? urban outfitters? better get moving.
48 in tv? I don't even know how to incorporate my 18 in one :0

Some of the pieces were on clearance. Others weren't, but they were grouped with the clearance items like maybe they were trying to move them as well. For example, the marble house was full price, but there were only 2 left and many of the other marble pieces had sold out.
Further in the department there was a Nate Berkus display that I thought really complemented this collection and it drew me in too. I always love Nate Berkus' line, the man can't make anything wrong. But there was a lot of brass with dark grays, masculine minimalism... My shit, essentially. I can never afford his stuff, sadly... Boyfriend and I were only able to ever find one shower curtain we liked, but it was Nate Berkus and we both agreed $30 for a shower curtain was fucking ridiculous at our income levels. So we just have the $2 white liner and nothing else because we're adults. ( Here it is, though. Either the price dropped, or I'm misremembering. Either way, still don't feel good about $20 for something that's gonna get moldy in a year. But! so nice! Don't even get me started on the gray quilt I found)
My list of places to go is pretty long too. And it just grows longer, since I can't afford to being going out shopping for cute stuff much. But of course a coworker had to tell me that he moonlights at an antique store specializing in 50s-70s upscale furniture and decor. Dammit, Donnie, you know I don't get enough hours to afford this knowledge! But with a picture like this on their website, how am I supposed to resist, exactly?
EDIT: Well if the cast of OITNB loves it, how could I not go there

Nice!
ha, it's the same for me with a shower curtain, I haven't been able to move past liner stage for whatever reason.
I saw that urban outfitters seem to be selling some of their better house goods for cheap at the moment. Like $15 dollars or less. Not that you need a new towel ring or miniature planter. But I noticed.

Oh, but I do need new towel rings and planters. Or at least want. But I'm a bit squicky about shopping from UO unless its second hand.
I've definitely had to further my love of masculine minimalism lately. Can't exactly talk the boyf into a flowery bedspread, but maybe I could convince him to sleep under a gray blanket, y'know.

Well the marble bit is well in that tradition. You know I love the victorian aesthetic. But specifically what I love is the Masculine victorian aesthetic: Marble, dark wood, and weird shit. Also some plants thrown in for good measure.
Ah, why do you feel that way about UO?

YOU KNOW I'M ALL ABOUT PLANTS, MAN. Preston keeps telling me "you don't need any more plants. No more plants. We have too many," and I just give him a smile like "ok sure baby whatever you say ok" and then I buy another plant.
UO has a long history of straight up stealing artists' work and putting it on shirts without permission and without giving any money to the artist. Basically find any artist on tumblr who created something that resonated with people, and they've probably had their work stolen by UO. They've also sold a lot of deeply troubling shirts with racist, pro-ana, and even tragedy-referencing messages. In short, UO can suck a smelly dick. They've got a cute aesthetic going on, but you couldn't pay me to set foot in their stores or buy their stuff directly from them (I have a UO dress, but it's second hand so whatevs).

They haven't been taken to court yet for theft of intellectual property?
In similar news, I heard American Apparel filled chapter 11 the other day.

As far as I know, they haven't. They target small-time artists who can't afford that sort of thing. But maybe they have, I don't really know.

Well their ceo was known to be gross and predatory, their modeling photos tended to be softcore porn-ish, but noticeably only with the female models and not the male, and they had had pretty gross things on their shirts before too (what you said about racist and pro - ana controversies I thought had happened with AA, not UO, because given one of the things they've done before it made sense) I had heard UO had had that trouble with designs before, but I thought that had tapered off some time ago. I had heard they offended Hindus by putting ganesha on socks, and while there are issues there with cultural appropriation, I thought that any religious disrespect there was down to (given the corporate context, rather unsurprising) ignorance. Hella dumb, their decision makers.

I think they fell out of vogue. It wasn't exactly a secret that their CEO was a sleaze wad (although wasn't he ousted a year or two back?), and their look just wasn't in fashion anymore. Too basic, I guess. Also its soft-core nature likely stopped coming across as edgy and more like desperate and sleazy. Just my take, though, I can't pretend to understand the opinions of hip young things. Apparently facebook isn't hip anymore, but I'm still on it compulsively.

I finally got my butt over to the new ikea! We didn't have much time, so we spent most of it looking through the showrooms. As a result, we'll be going back later for most of the shopping. But we did get...
Bookcase for comics + preston's books, my books that don't fit on my other bookcase
Sassy lil bookend to go with it
DOODLE BIRD PILLOW I AM VERY EXCITE
THESE VERY LOVELY SHEERS. You might remember I said I was looking for some cute sheers to frame my living room window. Well, Preston and I had our hearts set on the rug with this same design before we found our current one. So incorporating the design into the curtains makes everything perfect. Plus they're half the price of all the ugly sheers I've seen everywhere else.
IT'S JUST A CAN OPENER BUT I AM VERY IMPRESSED IT IS SO SMOOTH AND SO STYLISH
are you excited by ladles because i am
also a mesh garment washing bag for my underthings but who cares about that. Also some chocolates.
So not a bad first haul! There are other things we wanted to go back and look at, but they were paging us to get the fuck out of the store, so we had to grab the bookcase and hustle on out. I'd like some more pillows, maybe a throw, and some drawer organizers because my socks are out of control.
Other news, other news... oh, right! So the grocery store I work at is opening a Starbucks inside. Glamorous, yes. It's not a "corporate" Sbux but rather "licensed," which means it is staffed by employees of the grocery store, not people through Starbucks. Which means different pay and benefits, and we are union. So I wasn't really thrilled about the whole "Starbucks employee but for less money and no free online college!" but they managed to talk me into it anyway. Good thing, too, since very shortly into training they told me that they are eyeing me for, drumroll please... a manager or assistant manager position when they open another starbucks at another location of our store! Now there is some money. Honestly, it just feels really good that someone has finally noticed how goddamn hard I work and how much I care about doing a good job. Ten days from today marks my two year anniversary with this company and it has seemed like no one but my bakery department manager has ever noticed how thoroughly I bust my butt every single time I clock in. But I trained two days before someone was like "hey... whats ur availability... r u in school... do u wanna move up in the company... k cool... what no reason..." and then later asking me.
I do feel bad for my bakery manager, though. The assistant manager just quit last month because she found a better paying job. The only other somewhat dependable employee just applied to be a manager of another department. The remaining employee is a 19 year old fuckboy who can't even manage to stock bread in a five hour shift. I straight up moved and transferred to another store. But I'm still helping out there a couple times a week + trying to train my replacement... But so far my trainees: 1) are said 19 year old fuckboy 2) was allergic to the Hep C vaccine, thus couldn't get it, thus couldn't legally work in the dept., thus was transferred to cashier 3) quit after three days when she was told she couldn't get enough hours to make rent. My manager is a really lovely person, but she's very high-strung. She gets stressed out so easily and takes it too much to heart. She's already said that if my coworker and I both leave around the same time she's probably just going to retire because she does not feel up to handling a suddenly un-staffed bakery. But she also understands that they don't pay me enough to stay (she's asked for a raise on my behalf, bless her), and she does want what's best for me, etc. Lost my train of thought, so ending post here i guess.

Wow that's exciting Cherry, congrats! I hope it works out. I know it's clichéd but I do think Starbucks has a cool vibe. And cares about its employees. Come Christmas, if you're looking for a Christmas present for me you can send me some of their toasted chestnut frappechino making >.>
Speaking of Christmas, check out ikea at that time! They usually have really cute things to add depth to your decorating. I go every year. It used to be a ritual with my dad but my mom was nice enough to pick it up when he died. I'm glad you're digging it! They have good, consistent design. Those curtains look jazzy!
Also tell Brandon to come back.

WOW I WROTE LIKE THREE HUGE PARAGRAPHS AND THEN WHEN I TRIED TO POST THEM I GOT AN ERROR AND NOW THEY'RE GONE THANKS OBAMA. Well, I'll try to summarize what I said, but if I seem less chatty than normal it's because I hate repeating myself.
A frapp is probably the single most difficult starbucks drink to replicate at home, unfortunately! It uses our special Frapp Roast, a coffee syrup "base," and then all the appropriate flavor syrups. I don't know the toasted chestnut recipe, but it's entirely plausible that it would take at least two syrups (one is probably hazelnut because lol we just tell you a drink has a flavor in it but we don't actually use that flavor and no one notices. Caramel macchiatos? The only caramel is the drizzle on the top, shit's just a fancy vanilla latte). You could buy all that stuff from a regular starbucks so long as A) The employees know that's possible, B) They know how to ring it up, and C) They have enough stock on hand to be able to afford doing that.
So, we open on Monday and my first shift is Tuesday. I'm pretty nervous. On Friday we did a couple of "dry runs" in which we invited other store employees over to order free drinks to simulate normal traffic. It was... unmanageable? The way they teach us to make multiple drinks is based on maximum efficiency, so it involves a lot of multitasking. You don't start a drink and work it through to completion; you start a drink, get to a certain point where you have half a second of free time, and then start on the next drink, get it to there, go back and finish the first drink, start the third, finish the second, etc. etc. Now keep in mind I barely have down how to make these drinks in the first place. Trying to do it while constantly interrupting myself, with a growing line of customers and orders, well... let's say I nearly had a couple panic attacks. My immediate thoughts were "I CAN'T DO THIS, I'M OUT," but I'm trying to suppress that. I don't want it to get to the wrong person and have it kill my shot at management. So I'm going to talk to some of the department managers (all very nice, understanding, chill women around my age) about maybe not multitasking so much until I get the hang of things a bit better. I'm sure they could see I was struggling, so my hope is that they'll be like "OH YEAH SURE, OF COURSE!" I'm sure once I get the recipes down a bit better, I'll be able to move on to mastering the "sequencing."
Oh yeah, and here's a picture of our super cute (super tiny) kiosk!

Aw.
It's going to be hard for me to not go to Ikea constantly. I was able to go a little crazy, because I saved all the birthday/housewarming money my relatives sent me to use on furniture. I've spent some of it, but I still walked into Ikea with over $200 in my pocket. And I only spent $75 of it. So yeah, I'll be going back. A lot. Though I'm actually surprised to hear they do Christmas decorations. I didn't see a single Halloween thing. Granted, Halloween probably isn't a thing in Sweden.

Ooh, thanks for the tip about buying fixings, I'll have to see if I can get anyone at one of my locals to cough some up. by the way, this is what it was like:
https://news.starbucks.com/news/star...-praline-latte
SO GOOD, CHERRY.
Please keep me updated on how it all goes! I believe you can do it!
Yeah, not so much a thing in other countries. Though it is becoming one in Japan. Even Daiso is selling Halloween decorations now. I want to go to the international district one before then to see if they are selling them here. Like Christmas though, apparently it's seen as a couples holiday over there.
I just love ikea's Christmas decorations. In recent years my Christmas aesthetic has been sort of 'Medieval meets modern northern Europe served lowkey' and ikea helps facilitate a lot of that. Let's me emphasize light and greenery. World Market is usually pretty good with that too. But mostly ikea. Here's a generic look:
