"I don't talk to many people in this town either. They're still very superstitious about witches and other life forms they don't understand too well. I've been avoiding them like how my family would after that year afraid something bad would happen to me."

"Well, maybe we don't need to fear from each other, seeing as how we're in similar situtiations." he said a gently smile on his face. She was a very nice person. He found himslef looking into her eyes, to her soul, it was a bit more difficult to find it than for a humans, he could see it was a pure enough soul, didn't do half of what he did. He then looked quickly away and out a window, then he looked at the outside world, compared to inside this cabin.

"Probably not. I could feel that for a while now." She paused as the kitten returned and jumped on the couch. "In a forest anyone could cause harm to another and just leave. No one else would know there had been an event there. Therefore wouldn't have reason to go into the forest. They don't anyway. I'm the only one who goes there. Unless there are hunters around here, but I've never seen any. Anyway, point is, instead of causing harm, you helped me. That's how I can tell there's no fear."

"I didn't sense that you meant harm, I only defend myself." he said.

"I was just saying in general. One can never tell in this area if there's harm intended by others or not. Could be why I edged away on that tree... I get really shy around people I just meet, but afterwards I figured everything was going to be okay." She hadn't explained herself right...

"It's fine, I'm kind of shy myself, but I don't like others getting hurt, so I tend to help them out then just nod when they thank me and walk away, if I encounter people" he says. he then looks at her. "Would you like to try a recipe I learned in my travels, it's simple and really good."

"I've been watching my mother make healing potions since I was young. I've even tried a few myself even though it wasn't allowed. I just wanted to help people who were ill... But I almost got her in trouble with the elders. It wasn't good..." She paused as she finished the last bit of tiding up. "Sure I'll try it. What kind is it?" She had a whole section in her thick, faded, beige-pink book to try anyway.

"it's I believe spanish but I'm not completely sure" he answers. He thinks about where he learned it. " yeah it's spanish."

"Spanish... From Spain?" She'd read a few atlases, but didn't know much about Spain or the Spanish language. They sounded similar which made her believe that would be the most logical location. "What does it do? This recipe."

"Well, it does have a tendency to improve health, and make you feel full longer, and it's kind of like an english dish that I've had, It is from spain, I've been all over the globe at least twice."

"Ahh I see now." She felt dumb now. He was talking about a cooking recipe! While she was thinking it was an old fashioned potion recipe... It was embarrassing and she could feel it on her cheeks. "Anyway, it sounds good. I do use up a lot of energy throughout the day... Could help."

"Yeah." he smiled at her. He liked being around her, it was peaceful.

Tejina smiled back shyly. She wasn't used to talking to anyone for so long while feeling calm. There were times where she was always afraid others she spoke to would judge her or plot something without her knowing it. Her kitten returned and mewed, indicating lunchtime. "Okay okay. I'll get that right away." Tejina made her way to her icebox while almost tripping over the kitten. Happened every day.

He smiled contently. "It seems like your cat knows her time." he says chuckling.

"She knows more than that. She'll give me signs whenever she wants something one way or another." Tejina giggled as she fed her then returned to the main room to leave her in peace. "Didn't get tripped this time so that's good."

"Sounds like it." he says. "She's a very smart cat, your lucky."

"Eh..." She made the iffy so-so gesture with her left hand. "She's smart alright. But sometimes she doesn't always behave so well or follow rules very well. Seems your arrival has made her polite today or at least for the time being. So sometimes I'm not so lucky. Guess that's what I'm trying to say... Other than that she's the cutest thing I've ever had as a friend." She smiled.

"I once had a cat as well, a black cat with a small tuft of white fur on his chest, I can't remember his name to well anymore, he was a hell raising, but he could also be the best bud I had at that time, I don't remember too much detail about him, it's a more recent human memory so it's a bit fuzzy." he says smiling. "I can remember though that I ha taught him how to steal food, and he almost got caught doing it."

"So you had a cat, too? That's interesting. Cats are very good companions, but yeah. They can be troublemakers, too. Even my own kitty goes around to the village to seek things she craves, but it's by instinct. Usually she craves freshly caught fish. Though... She's gotten caught many times doing that... She's always escaped, but I'm always afraid for her safety whenever she disappears and I can't find her. The people around here aren't very witch pet friendly either..."

"They don't seem to understand vampires very well either." he says agreeing with her. "Yeah are exactly that, I used to have my cat go everywhere with me, it was trained well enough to stay with me no matter what. I kind of miss him now, I could use his company."

"Miko only follows me into the kitchen... During mealtimes... Seems all she thinks about is food." She had to giggle at that. "I wish she'd follow me everywhere, but then I'd worry about her as she'd probably wander off... I'd probably feel the same way if and when something happened to Miko." She knew what the guy meant about missing his companion. It probably happened many years ago. No one could live forever...

"It's true that no one can live forever, but after a couple of centuries it gets lonely, I trained him myself, I knew he wouldn't wander off, I could train your cat to do the same if you like." he says offering to make someone else happier. He found that helping people made him feel less lonely. He then cheered up a bit, not wanting to worry Tejina.

"She's actually a bit different than other cats... I don't think she'd be trainable even if she's young enough and easier..." She didn't want to say so, but there really was something different about her. Something very secretive and unexplained that she wanted no one to know about. At least not this soon... By accident maybe...

"Yeah, I can sense a difference in her, it's....." he tryed to find the right words. "I can't really describe it, but it's like she's more human than other cats." He felt that that was good enough to be clear.

"That's a good way of putting it. More human than other cats. It's pretty much true to an extent..." Out of habit she started boiling water for coffee or tea as it was around that time of day, but she forgot about the shortage the town was having. Boats didn't come by very often during these months as it was starting to get colder from heavy winds. The boats had trouble steering during those times as they were more on the old fashioned side. Not row boats, though luckily.
