lol - yah. This is all very true. If I didn't subscribe though, I'd never remember all the places I've posted in.

Exploring is all well and good - but if there's no one posting in the place you just found, then a person gets bored and goes back to where they know they can get a reply. ^_~

Which is why I want to move these forums to see if they get more traffic... :)

Sometimes I wonder if the discussion of books and manga and media isn't looked down at as temporary. I mean, we'll set up a Nations thread or an Exchange thread all nice for the long haul. I tend to set up my discussion threads that way too, like a few images for a discussion about an anime, but not everyone does. They'll just post "Random anime Name Has anyone seen it?" And then wander off. I don't know how you'd go about encouraging more depth to such posts though.

Anime really does need its own subforum. ^^ And I play videogames and listen to music, but I suck at making threads. >.>

Those random threads are general from people who don't stay on the site at all though, aren't they. Those one sentence questions from people that you never see again.

I wish people would get more into reviewing movies because I hate the pretentious reviews that you see on sites like Rotten Tomatoes, the people on there love the sound of their own voice too much, and people on IMDB are way too easily swayed by media opinions.

But again all I can do is move stuff and see what happens...

With movie review threads, the problem is that once you've said your piece, that's about it. You can do a two or three page debate with someone even - but that's about as far as it goes. After that you're just repeating yourself, or you come in and three people have already said what you wanted to say.

So movie threads in general are short lived, because after the first rush, there's nothing much else to say. A true discussion keeps changing and morphing so there's always something to talk about. But a movie thread is forced to stay on one topic - the movie - which has a limited amount of things to say about it.

So of course they dry up after a while. Movie threads in specific are more short-term, because there's always another movie, which would require a separate thread. If it was one single thread where people could talk about any movie they'd seen, then there'd be more traffic. There aren't THAT many people online and chatting outside the RP forums at any given time.

I understand you'd like to see more people go in and make threads and discuss things, but people are inherently lazy. I don't want to set up a thread and have to repeat my views for months on end just so I can reply to new people who may or may not wander into my thread months later. Not to mention, months later - there'll be a new movie I've seen and want to talk about.

The book sub-forum has more discussion than the movie one, because people usually talk about a book SERIES or an Author. They have multiple things to talk about all in one thread. It's still slow in there, but good debate can be found if you're willing to dig around a bit.

But yeah, go ahead and move things. It will be interesting to see if more people see the change. I think I'm one of hundreds who goes to My Account page, to see if there are any replies to the threads I've already been to, rather than the main forum page anymore. I do step outside my small circle now and then though... when I'm bored or the forum is slow and I'm looking for a new place to post. So maybe others will do the same thing.

I think that bringing the subforums 'out' will increase the amount of attention given to them.

Well that's the hope, it certain worked with Nation, and a lot of people do have a bad habit of never "seeing" subforums.

I knew about the various subforums in the different main forums, if that counts for something. xDD;; I have some posts in each, but not a lot. :x I have to agree with whoever said that it was hard to keep discussions going in said forums after the first couple people post in each thread. ^^;;

Btw, I'm fine with scrolling down and all. xDD;; My only complaint would be the placement of this forum, the Community Discussion forum. I liked it above the General Discussion! D: It fits that spot more grouping-wise (or it could also be because I'm used to it, lulz 8DD). That way, you can also put the Music forum beside/nearer to its other "common icon" forums, the Computer and Gaming and Media forums. XP

This is exactly what I came in here to say. XD
Specifically the part about the CD Forum.

But, I don't want those all grouped together D: People will be more apt to ignore them then :ninja:

I know I'm probably fighting a rearguard action here, and what I'm doing is unlikely to have any kind of positive effect, but I'm not going to give up ><

I don't understand why people would ignore them if they're grouped together...? o_o;; Well, maybe people will notice the Music subforum more because it's out of place, I guess? xDD;; If Music gets more activity than the other media forums, then perhaps there's something to that spot. ^^;;

Whatever you want then, Jelly. XP My position still stands though. 8DD;;

I like to shuffle things around just to get people to look somewhere else. Especially if they end up doing that by accident because they're so "stuck in a rut" and always go to exactly the same places and never look in any other forums :)

I noticed. XP

I like this current setup better though. xDD;; Maybe it's just my compulsive need to organize stuff with the same icon/topic together though.

Now I'm paranoid. Every time I go to check out the forums, I feel like it'll all be written in gibberish or something random and confusing. xD

On a more related note: I think it's working. I personally have been browsing the mentioned forums more frequently, and have even found topics worth posting in. ^^

I like this idea But, I just think there is to much in the middle
Its like to much blocks and words jammed together
Maybe cutting it in half?

Thats my only problem so far, but I like how the sub forums has become its own

I think that the "blue section" is too big and maybe that there should be a separate area for media/books to help keep things looking nice. I really like that the subforums are pulled forward now though.

I might, once and awhile. I rarely go to all the forums though, some of them just don't spark my attention is all. I'm not really into media, so I really don't chat in games/TV type of forums. Only once in a blue moon do I.

I like change. Shake it up I say! Do what you feel.

I do usually go to my subscribed threads - then go roam the Exchange for a bit - then roam wherever else looks tasty. <3
